got it setup for backing up the 8 TB custom media centre i built some years agoas soon a i drop a file to the MC the seagate hub copies the file to its internal storage giving me peace of mind.totally silent, switches off when the MC is shutdown - setup and forget about ithowever it was a little bit of a pain to setup and no software can with the producti needed to use third party software to properly format it and it popped up networkssince then its just workedadvice, don't use the Seagate dashboard software instead use the Toolkit from Seagates site, setup constant backup and forget about it!i was going to buy another NAS but settle in this as it was cheaperyou can also access the drive from networks screen on any PC connected to my networkapart from the setup process,

I decided to buy this from Argos as I required additional storage space for my music and films as my NAS was beginning to get full. Having used this type of hard drive before and having no problems I went ahead with my purchase and as before everything went well with the installation of the product,there is little noise and it does not overheat, it does what it says on the box and a must if you are considering buying more storage space for your PC.The unit comes with a 2 year warranty.

Easily connects and sets up, the registration and backup software is saved on the hard drive, once you have registered the backup hard drive (internet required) you can then download the back up software.This is why I have only given it 4 stars, the backup software will only see the C:Drive of your Computer, any other drives fitted whether internal or external will not appear, so I am basically saying that the provided software will only backup from your computer to this external drive.

My poor PC was getting clogged down with files everywhere..so bought one of these.Seems like a good piece of kit with 8TB of storage within and a USB 3.0 Hub too, the design is maybe not the best looking but its functional & will sit on your desk horizontally or vertically. Now the one caveat I have found is that it seems slow (even on a USB 3.0 connection) a usb pen drive is much quicker, but if you want to archive a lot of files or just have a VAST space to fill this is it!

In short: If you want a decent external drive with a ton of space, this is a good buy.Is it one disk and does it power down regardless of OS settings? This is one disk and you can control when it 'sleeps' through its application which also allow you to turn off the white light on the front. The backup software is basic, but does the job. Drive performance is good, but unspectacular. The USB ports function fine. The drive is SCSI internally. It's a good well-made drive.

The disk seems to be working reliably and fast so far and it looks like it is a good purchase. Seagate have also updated their website and the registration of the product is now really easy and straightforward. Generally Seagate offers a lot, for example they offer the European adaptor in the box for free, while WD doesn't do that and they are more expensive than Seagate are. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and the price in Argos was unbeatable

I bought this to compliment my NAS. You need to have a backup as RAID is far from a complete backup solution. The USB 3 is fast and does its job very well. I like the fact that it has no buttons. When you plug it in and connect the USB that is it! It also looks good, runs quietly and auto spins down. The extra USB ports were ideal for backing up my USB pens and because of the vast size I won't be looking for more storage for a good while.

This trusted brand doing as advertised and its very handy having more than one so you can connect them all together with the incuded hub and have only one cable connected to your Mac / PC.I have 3 of these connected to a hub/home server and my PC's and Mac's connected to that. This setup is working a treat and would recommend you getting more than one if possible to cover all your storage requirements.Trust this helps make your choice.

I had trouble with this external hard drive due to it having a built in USB hub. It crashed my pc and I had to disconnect it. I eventually got it up and running correctly after deleting and reinstalling my USB 3 drivers. The problem arose due to the hub and my USB 3 hardware being the same manufacturer. Saying that it's now working fabulously and I have 8tb of space. The onboard hub is a good addition as I only have two ports on my pc.

Purchased this large capacity drive for use with the upcoming XBOX ONE X. It also works perfectly with the entire XBOX ONE family of consoles , whilst having the very useful facility of two USB 3 front mounted ports. It can of course also be used on PC. Handles large size data transfer without problems and so far, performs excellently. Plenty of space for those super large 4k patch downloads for the new console. Not suitable for PS4!

As I work with a lot of video and photographs, I required a storage solution that would require instant access, this 8TB Seagate drive has not let me down, being USB 3.0 it has fast access speed, although for large videos it can be a bit slower that needed but built with the Seagate features that I have come to expect does the job perfectly, I do have a number of these drives and having the USB hub in them is an excellent bounus.

These Seagate external USB 3 drive are very good fro backups and the like. I've got 3 of these and they are very handy with the USB ports on the front to connect extra devices. They come with Toolkit back software as well which is an added bonus. So just plug in to power and USB port and then install Software already on drive to your computer and away you go. So far so good. Best to use USB 3 connections for fast transfer.

Good product, easy to install, easy to use.Has a lot of storage but you might need a lot of time to copy everything to it.It took about a week to fill it with 5 TB data. This was caused by the operating method: USB without wire cache. Highest speed I've seen was 110 MB/sec, slowest was around 3 MB/sec. Average ~30.It is stable, i did not have to power cycle or tree-connect during the 1 week copy operation.

Xbox X compatible no problems. Small and easy to setup. Huge amount of memory (7.2TB) once formated. Comes with a 2yr manufacturers guarantee what's not to like . This is a must for any xbox owner regardless of what version of the console you own .work on all three versions faultlessly. Games load faster too as it's faster than the internal drive . Argos awesome . It's a win win you won't be disappointed
