I purchased the Samson SAQ7 as a back up for my SM58 as it had good reviews and was good value. After using the mic i found that the response and clarity were nowhere near to my trusty sm58,The highs didnt really sound that great in comparison but hey,it only cost £28 against the sm58s £100 so not really a fair comparison as in with most things and definately musical gear/instruments etc you get what you pay for.Having said that I have used it for backing Vocals and the Samson performed well and overall sounded pretty good.Nowadays I use it predominately for Mic'ing up my Guitar to my Amp and this is where it excells in my opinion.it doesnt pick up to much bleed and with a bit of positioningto find the "Sweet spot" it does sound very good. Its not as great as the standard industry Shure SM57 but as i said earlier you get what you pay for..in conclusion-The Samson is a good solid, robust well made mic that is great for a back up,or if your on a budget/starting out I wouldnt hesitate in purchasing.Deano

PLUS: I have two of these and I like these mics a lot, they are good value and are well made. Used with male and female vocals and while not up there with a Sure SM86 or even a Sennhiser 835 the response is good and pleasing to my ears. They are easy to EQ. The handling noise is not too high and would be, in my opinion equivalent to a SM58 but not as good as an SM86.MINUS:Possibly a bit heavy. the mic clips are not good quality and are a very tight fit. It is important to note that these mics are physically bigger than the popular Shure 57's, 58's and 87's so you need to use different stand clips. They come in a hard case but I would prefer a soft case like Shure or Sennhiser.OVERALL: Great value and a good solid touring capable mic with normal handling noise rejection.

I wasn't expecting much from a £30 mic that I bought when I just needed something for vocals and the occasional V.o. I must say that it is a lot brighter compared to a SM58. It sounds a lot brighter and also makes the 58 sound slightly muddy and low end heavy. There is a slightly hotter output than an sm58. In conclusion, this would be great for a budget vocal mic that won't break the bank but will stand up to the rigours of live sound and possibly some studio or podcasting. My one gripe with this, not neccaserliy a major thing if used in a clip, is there is a slight handling noise. This may not be as apparent in a mix but is still there. Possibly could be removed with some light gating.Superb overall.Would recommend highly.

Superb Super cardioid mic.....The SM58 is still my mic of choice but as an audio engineer this is a wonderfully balanced mic....slightly less bass than the SM 58 but more hf response....its a slightly biased mic more toward the hf frequency...great for vocals and instrument mic'ing...and a slightly hotter output than the SM58This mic requires less tweaking out of the box to sound great, but the sm can be eq'd for a multitude of environments and is the main one on the riders list for artistsFor the money this is a superb mic ...well done samson

Absolutely loved this mic until I had to return it. Unfortunately USB audio interfaces, especially the cheaper ones, have a very limited gain range; my Focusrite Solo only provided +46db when the mic was naturally at -56dB (if I recall). As you can probably tell it couldn't quite bring enough volume to the mic.But it sounded extremely clear in the time I had it, the super cardioid pattern is brilliant for voice work.Check your interface specs!!

We bought this mic to use for when others got up to join in on vocals as we'd had a couple of Shure mics damaged by happy but drunken crooners. Anyway, got to say that we've only used it once and it was excellent. I actually stopped it over for my Shure lead mic to see if there was any difference. Minimal. In fact, others in the band didn't notice I'd swooped them over.Comes in a chunky box, with mic clip.Nice one.

This mic is amazing value for money. I struggle with feedback because I need the mic to be loud in my monitor (I have quite a soft voice). I've tried Sennheiser 945 and found the SM58 better. This is even better though. I get a bit more level before feedback and the tone is good, and it's a quarter of the price! I am setting up a PA hire business and will be using these as vocal mics.

Really good Mic comes with hard case perfect for keeping Mic stored safely. Comes with mic clip. Mic feels heavy and sound quality amazing, such good value compared to top end Microphones, which don't sound any different to me. I sing in a band with two other members with different high priced mics and mine doesn't sound any different at all.

This is a good mic. It has very low noise. I like the tone on thismore than my AKG mic. If you want to sing and don't want to waste money....buy this.

This is a good quality mic and very good value. Sound quality is good enough for recording with my digital eight track (Zoom R8).
