First off, let’s get real – this is a budget game offered at a budget price. So let’s set our expectations accordingly. The first time I read about this game I knew that I had to have it – I mean come on, I get to be John Rambo in a video game! Being developed by REEF, and seeing some of the trailers, my expectations were fairly low. Even hearing that it was an ‘on-rails’ shooter couldn’t discourage me.Then it arrived, I eagerly installed it to my HDD (yes, all 2 GB of it), and loaded it up. As soon as I heard the music I couldn’t wait to hit start! Anyway, for the first 3 or so hours, I cursed my love for the Rambo franchise; I hated it. Even on easy difficulty it was brutal and I couldn’t finish it!But that is where some of the other aspects of the game kick in.While playing the story, you earn experience points which can be used to upgrade your health, light weapons, heavy weapons, grenades and wrath. Now even when you reach level 20 you still only have 19 upgrade points, so you cannot have all 25 upgrades activated at the same time. Luckily these points can be redistributed in the main menu to suit the level you are playing. As you level up, you also unlock extra ‘perks’. You start off only being able to equip 1 perk at a time, and by the time you get to level 10 or 11, you can equip 3 at once. The perks range anywhere from 5% health regain for headshots, to dishing out 25% extra damage, wrath burning 10% more slowly, or gaining an extra 10% XP to go towards levelling up. From memory, there are about 30 different perks. Again, you will want to choose different perks based on the level you are playing. In Addition to this, you also have Trautman Challenges, which you can unlock better weapons to use on any level. An example of a Trautman Challenge is to complete one of the levels using only the bow and knife (stealth style). You also have a level select where you can choose to replay any of the levels you have unlocked on either easy, medium or hard (Green Beret) difficulty. And let me tell you that without some of those perks, upgrades and unlocked weapons, Green Beret is going to be challenging! (on easy you get unlimited retries per level, on medium 5, and on hard, 3).You can also play 2 player couch co-op (didn’t try it myself) and there is a Leaderboard section showing you your ranking and giving you all of your stats as well (kill, headshots, KPM, time played etc).None of the achievements appear to be glitched (I managed to get the full 1000)The graphics are not the best, but they do seem to get better as you progress through the game from First Blood to Rambo III. There also seems to be a filter applied to First Blood Part 2 that is intentional and makes it look a bit more gritty. As you can imagine there is quite a lot of blood and violence. The sound is obviously excellent, with sound clips of the voices taken from the films, and the music is true to the films as well. Now onto the gameplay. As I said earlier, for the first 3 hours or so I hated it, then all of a sudden, something clicked and I just ‘got it’. I changed the aiming from automatic to manual, and reduced the sensitivity all the way down to about 20 (from 50!). Now I was getting somewhere. I was able to get through all of the levels on easy difficulty, barely. But then you start to look at your scores and question if you are playing the game right or not? I mean on the first level the first time I got about 250,000 points. The target score for 2 stars was 1,000,000 and 3 stars was 1,500,000!! And when you really start to look at it, the scoring system really is quite complex. You get extra points for headshots, and extra points for kill chains (kills within 5 seconds of each other). You get extra points for perfect QTEs and prefect reload combos. You get extra points for wrath combos, and not dying. At the end of each level you get multipliers based on the difficulty and you KPM (kills per minute) ratio. Taking all of these things in to consideration is the key to getting the best possible scores in the levels, and getting the magical 3 stars (even if it seems impossible to begin with). This game really is a lot more tactical than just shooting stuff.Once I had the full 1000 and thought I had got everything from the game that I could, my playtime read in at about 15 hours. Not too shabby compared to others here saying they finished it in 3 hours and n3ever went back.Granted, it is not the best game ever made, but I you are a Rambo fan, you will probably get some enjoyment out of it. As you can tell I actually quite liked it after I had given it a chance.I realise this is a pretty long review, but there were just far too many saying ‘OMG worst game ever!’ without every really giving it the chance. There is enjoyment to be had with this game, I can promise you that. What I can say for sure is that this game will make you want to sit down and watch the trilogy again at the very least ;)

Amazon purchase online excellent. Speedy delivery and packaging superb. The game is now reduced in price - date of release. Cheap game. Don't want to pay 75 pounds or 25 pounds. Sit back and enjoy. How to reach God Mode in Rambo: The Video Game. Why do I need to know this? The character Rambo has to improve skills and gain perks during the game. You need to reach a rank 20 in the skills and perks menu. Just complete the mission Chapter 1 - Jailbreak, Usa, Hope Town 1982. It is easy to complete if you press Private on the menu screen. The jailbreak mission requires pressing triangle, circle buttons. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete on easy mode. You watch the circle on the screen shrink inwards to the required button, for example triangle and press it. Wow. Perfect score for one button press. Try this on the other cut scenes in jailbreak mission and escape out the door. Watch the skills and upgrade screen. The bar moves across the screen to a quarter of the length required to upgrade to next rank. Try pressing restart x and complete Jailbreak mission four times. You don't have to go back and complete the first intro again and again. Surprise. Now Rambo has been upgraded to Rank 2. Continue doing this for like an hour and upgrade health, ammo, perks. Then go back to story mode and select private and you should be able to reach the missions involving Rambo firing a bow and arrow. As you can see, God Mode is achievable by repeating the jailbreak mission. Just select and press x to restart mission of jailbreak. Top up the long bar and increase rank. Pick the upgrades. Try improving extra ammo. As you can see there are extra grenades and ammo. Maybe increase your health. Change the perks before the start of every mission to improve your chance of completing it. Kinda Boring watching Rambo walk beside vehicles and the coffin scene and then press x after the loading icon disappears. Watch three police try to shave Rambo. If you don't do this simple cheat I suggest sitting for hours wondering why there are no extra grenades, health increased 50 percent, ammo increased 50 percent. Patience is all you need. There has been a new Level added on 24th April 2016 if you have the internet. Just download the update. What do I get? New Difficulty level John Rambo and a new Vietnam mission added to the game. What about graphics? Nice graphics and cutscenes. For less than 8 pounds. This game is a bargain. Use the dual shock to complete the game rather than move. There have been complaints that the game is too hard. Nonsense. Try the simple cheat above and you can be John Rambo. Round of applause for this fascinating review? Eighteen years old smiling again?

Yes, I am a huge Rambo/Stallone/ACTION fan. But, if you weren't, would you be here reading this? The game is an arcade style rail shooter. So, most of the bad reviews that are being written, people are playing the game with the analog controller. They are dragging around a cross hair with a control stick. Let me assure you that this was the "secondary" method of play and only if it is the only way you can play it. Then, I say skip it. However, this game was designed with the "Playstation Move Sharp Shooter" in mind. In my mind, this should have been a "PS3 Move Sharp Shooter" exclusive. Forget the xbox and pc. Heck they did eliminate the Xbox version in the US. The blasting action is non stop.It is much more immersive and challenging with this peripheral add on. The QTE's (quick time events) act as a nice violent break from all of the RAMBO AK-47 CARNAGE since you can rest the gun to your side while performing these. I was actually upset that there WASN'T a QTE for the epic knife kill on the gun boat in Part II. It took me 6-8 hours to complete this game on EASY. The 2-4 hour completion time people are clocking themselves at is with the mouse and keyboard. No "aiming skill" at all. Lame. The graphics are my only complaint. But, REEF took a risk with this game on a restricted budget. And, we are comparing it to next gen games already. The graphics are decent enough. As a RAMBO fan, I still love playing through some of the greatest action movie moments of ALL TIME. Riddle the police station with M60 bullets? check. Ride inside the Huey for the epic bazooka battle against the Russian? yep. Shooting helicopters out of the sky with the DShK Heavy Machine Gun accompanied with epic slow motion explosions. OH YEAH. 5.1 surround sound? DO IT. Turn it to 10. Make the neighbors complain like I did. The only mistake with this game is that they should have made this game 5 years ago with the release of the Playstation peripherals. The graphics would have been above average then and the Sony would have sold more controllers. Better late than never.

RAMBO the video game will appeal to anyone who likes on rails shooters , The ORS genre has been sadly forgotten by most developers. RAMBO the video game is a welcome addition to my collection of classic ORS, I won't say the GFX are awesome but please remember this title was released primarily for the last gen consoles. To have such a nice game on PC brings back some fond memories of this once very popular game type. GFX are still pretty decent , gameplay is fluid and challenging. This game deserved more praise than it got at the time of launch, mostly due to the fact the younger generation of CoD type gamers expected something similar..However Rambo offers something a bit different from the mainstream and credit goes to the developer for keeping to the storyline of the Films.r>The game is as good as any ORS I have played in recent years and has many redeeming qualities, I'm running the game on max settings without any issues and honestly having a blast.Overall a really fun game to play8.6/10.Read full review...

Well what can I say. This is actually a really great game! It's non stop action and a lot of fun.. Yes I will be honest the controls are very tricky to begin with. And I would recommend starting on the easy mode. But after about 10mins of sticking with it, they become second nature! Then the game becomes real fun.. The only down side for me is that it is pretty short. I've completed it now both on easy and medium mode. Just the hard setting left to try! Don't be put off by the other reviews. Yes the graphics are very 80s. And the game has been made like the arcade games of it's time... So there you have it gamers. That's my review. Short and to the point...So If you are looking for a shooter in the style of Call of duty or Battlefield then stay away from this.. But if you are looking for agood old 80s style game. Then give this ago. You might be quite surprised!!!

After hearing the bad previews i finally got this game and was pleasantly surprisedSo its a rail shooter which means no freedom to move around, you are taken to a location and its allabout taking cover and firing, and it works well, though the controls need getting used to.Start in nam, then it follows the movies 1 to 3The game should be cheaper for what it is, and yes it could have been done so much better, but as its all we got from an excellent franchise, so be happy if you are a fanThe graphics are a mix of good and bad, but you have to treat this as an arcade style shoot em up old school style.Rambo 4 is not in this game, it just covers the first 3, so I do hope that if all goes well, the next one will be much, much betterOverall all, a guilty pleasure, straight to the point shoot em up

This game is not for everyone as the reviews have proved but i love it. This is old school gaming where you only have a certain amount of lives to get all the way through the level. There are checkpoints along the way, but even so this game is tough. The style of the game and controls have been done in such a way to mirror it to the movies to put you right in the heart of the action, so this is more arcade style than your normal modern day shooter (think operation wolf).Graphics are not up to the standard of other games but that doesn't stop this being a fun game. Controls take a bit of getting used to and the voice acting is a bit dodgy but rambo's voice and the music are spot on to themovie. And remember all he wanted was something to eat..

This game captures the spirit of Rambo- you get to charge around being super hard and have a laugh doing it! The reload system adds sone variety to the rail shooter style and acting out the most memorable movie moments is a buzz! Sure there are some gameplay issues but there are glitches in Call Of Duty, so I say chill out everyone, remember the first time you saw John Rambo and plug this game in for some serious old skool gaming pleasure!

4.3.2014

While critics might hate the rambo game this is alot better than i thought it would be it does a number of nice things and plays quite well mixing up shooting and combat the one downfall is the awful continue system were after 5 failed attempts on a level you have to restart also can i just add on normal some of the missions are really tough so all in all a good effort with a few flaws

27.2.2014

This game is something totally different, in a good way! Bits of it are totally brilliant and once I had got the hang of the game style and got into it I became a bit addicted. The active reload function is awesome, it is a light-hearted tribute to the style of the films, doesn't take itself too seriously and is quite difficult in places which I like. I definitely recommend it :D

I bought this game for my boyfriend as we are both big fans of 80s action films... and we LOVE it!!!! This game properly captures the genius of the Rambo films!! It's super entertaining! The different styles of play are cool too (I like the QTE bits and he likes the old school style rapid fire/reload sections)It's perfect for a Friday night in with some beers!

16.3.2014

The game is a first person shooter . The good points are the movie tie -ins and of course the Character of Rambo himself. However its hard to play as you just get shot at and killed all the time. The controls are difficult to use - they could have simplified the controls and made game more fun.

The game is great and the product was a bargain. The two figures were pristine and came packaged in their own separate bags. The steam code worked perfectly with no issues. This is the best value way to buy rambo the video game since you can't buy it anymore on steam for some reason.

30.6.2020

Highly recommended.I was a little hesitant buying a used game but I shouldn't of been, as it came looking like new apart from there wasnt and film around the game.I have a happy person and a quite (ish) home.Would buy from these again
