Pre-ordered this game with Amazon and to my surprise it arrived today! I expected a next week delivery.I think my review is the first (Or one of the first) by someone who has actually purchased the game. The game is the no frills approach to console racing. Let's make this clear from the get-go, this is a simulation game in every way. If you're looking for a razzle-dazzle racer look elsewhere, however if you want to feel what it's like to actually drive a car on a console - look no further!Admittedly I have only had the game for a few hours, but first impressions are positive. The menu screen may lack the visual flair of say Grid or DiRT, but they are functional, clear and easy to navigate. As for gameplay,it plays just like GTR 2 on the PC (How I loved that game) Okay the visuals may not be on a par with games such as Grid, Dirt and PGR 4, but you do actually feel like you are driving a car. The way the cars look and handle, feels just right. It has that added sense of realism that the other games lack.It works very well with the MS Force feedback Wheel, you can even look around using the D-Pad in the in car view which is great. You can turn off the HUD with a tap of a button whilst driving and in the menu screen you are given the option to hone your skills on an empty track. Admittedly there are only a few cars at the start for you to do this with, but you can practice on all tracks. The track selection is good, and the amount of cars you can drive and disciplines will keep you busy for a very long time. The game will no doubt get criticism from fellow readers as it may not be seen on a par with more established racers, but for my own part I have been waiting since November for this to be released and for my money - it's been worth the wait.I highly recommend the game.

PAY NO ATTENTION to those complaining about the poor graphics (sure, the odd texture is a little muddy, but since when do you pay attention to realistically modelled grass when barrelling along at 150mph?), poor handling (sublime, accurate, with exceptional physics including damage modelling and tyre wear) or lack of music (since when was ICE a pre-requisite for FIA regulations?). This is as real as it gets on a console.I have been a fan of Simbin and their brutally realistic simulations for many years now, ever since the original GTR. I purchased an 360 back in October 2006 purely on the strength that GTR was being re-coded for Microsoft's machine...Well,it has been a long time coming (with GTR cancelled due to licensing issues with Take2), but I have to say that Race Pro has satisfied my thirst for a realistic racer on the Xbox. Well done Atari and Simbin. If you enjoy easy and fun racing games, then walk away now and pick up a cheap copy of Grid or PGR. But if you're a true fan of motorsport and the cars featured in this game (WTCC, F3000, GT classes, etc), then do yourself a favour and give this a look.Sure, there are a few issues with the leaderboards (impossible times) and one or two minor bugs and glitches with replays and online ranked matches, but I forgive these completely because of the incredibly rewarding gameplay experience this piece of software has to offer (online racing with friends has exceeded all my expectations). Besides, with Simbin's pedigree, I'm sure these minor issues will be addressed with a patch/update sometime in the near future. If you've read this far, BUY THIS GAME!

The main thing people seem to be slagging this game off over are the graphics. Okay they are not up to Grid's standard, but this is an actual game with proper gameplay, proper racing and proper championships rather than just a very long demo of Codemasters graphic programing abilities that is all Grid is. And the graphics are far from bad and the frame rates are pretty high as well. This game is by far the best racing game available on any console system. The career mode is excellent allowing complete novices an easy, fun way to learn the cars and tracks and also allowing the experienced racer the chance to turn the difficulty level up and get stuck in. The championships can be adjusted to your liking. You choose the cars, the difficulty and the number of laps. The difficulty level is completely customisable meaning anybody, whatever their ability, can get a good race. The sound is good, the handling is suberb, you can race the cars as standard or the serious racer can tweak and tune them as much as he/she likes. There really is something for everyone. I am quite experienced with racing games, mainly on the PC, and Grid took me 13 hours to complete at the hardest level. At the hardest level I doubt I will ever be good enough to beat this game.If you are looking for something to show off your 50 inch plasma screen then this game isn't for you. If you like your racing close, in the car you want to drive, in the track you want to drive on and at a level you are happy with then look no further. In short an excellent racing sim for beginners and pro's alike.

I have to come clean before you read this review, since I lived in Macau for 15 years and experienced the "Macau Grad Prix" circus non-stop in as many years.Race Pro is the most realistic racing simulation I have had the privilege to enjoy so far, the handling is true to real driving meaning excellent feel for acceleration, braking, cornering and race tactics (including overtaking & collisions, ie, YEAHH & OUCHH)!Other reviews available already tell all about graphics (not PGR4 or Forza but well good regardless), cars and circuits available (a good selection), game structure/options (simple & effective, no gimmicks).Going back to how this review started, having driven car/ridden bike in real Macau streets (along the track layout)I truly feel "in loco" when playing Race Pro at Macau and arguably there's no other track like it, the fast flat straights and up/down hill twists, both make for potentially "the most challenging racing/track in world motorsports"...and with Race Pro you gain exclusive/unlimited access!Simply choose Formula 3000 machine, cockpit view (sublime), and whether a novice or pro, buckle up and focus cos you're in line for seriously addictive racing experience!Any other machine/track combinations are as well challenging and rewarding, pushing you to best of your ability/drive.Ok, beyond my obvious enthusiasm this is a well good racing sim with many many hours of fun awaiting - see you in Race Pro/Macau 360 online (hopefully in my mirrors)>>

This is a game that appeals to racers, people who watch Touring cars fighting tooth and nail at every bend for position and racing is not a tedious affair of pit stops and leaving your opponent for dust because you happen to have dropped a V8 engine into your hatchback and it now handles like a Murcielago.Race Pro puts you on an even playing field with your opponent, you have to use your skill and tactics to beat him, it is the most complete experience of racing I have experienced on a console, and despite the criticisms of basic graphics (which are not as bad as some like to report) this is an Xbox 360 title that will stay in my collection for as long as I own the console, there are some little niggles,my biggest bugbear is AI cars overtaking you on the grass, but even so you will struggle to find a racing game where the AI will give you such a run for your money every race, and yes they make mistakes which are often spectacular to watch.Online is very good fun, people playing Race PRo tend to be very serious racers so the chances of racing agains idiots who barge people off the track at any given opportunity is a lot less in my experience, I have some fond memories of some great races, and yes that includes that wet race at Monza where I worked my way up to first place and messed up the parabolica on the last lap to finish in second place ...gahhhh...If pimping up cars and beauty appeals, get Forza, if white-knuckle racing is your thing, get this.

I play this game with all my mates on the UKOG forums. We are a bunch of motorsports enthusiasts and most of us have a keen eye for physics in any racing game we play. If you are a TRUE motor racing and console sim fan theres no better game out there for racing physics on the Xbox. I stumbled across this game late after having it recommended to me and thought there would be no way it would be able to better Forza 3, but it does. This game is not so much about tuning and then beating people because you have the best setup but more about the racing. Ok so the AI are a little annoying at times (they love rear ending you into slow corners) but i only ever raced them so that i can unlock the cars.Even so the AI is no worse than in any other game i have played and they have a good knack of fighting back the postition once they have lost it. This game is defintely at its best online though playing against buddies that know how to drive, the amount of close races i have taken part in i have lost count of.If you love realism and are fans of Touring Cars and other less know formulas/series then give this game a shot. Dont bother with any assists as you dont need them and have the AI at Pro, anything less and they are painfully slow. How anyone can think this game is rubbish seriously amazes me and obviously prefers the likes of the original NFS games where braking for corners is optional.

Race Pro is a sim based racing game with touring cars, GT cars , and single seaters. Its a great game but is let down by many bugs and flaws, but it does has a season mode alongside a career mode. Great physics and handling the best on console, and nearest you will get to a PC racing sim. Shift is more fun and deeper but this is the sim many race enthusiasts will go back to, even with its flaws!PROs=-Great car physics and handling through a game pad is perfect-Season mode with qualification etc is available-AI outside of career are challenging, but flawed (see below)-Replays look great, but long winded to view-Sounds are pretty good cars sound really authentic-Car setup is detailed and accessible-Track visuals are good, although look plain sometimes-Car cockpits are detailed with working dashboardsCONs=-Career a little long winded and sometimes boring-Ai "bug" tend to warp in front of you when pushed against, really deters the realism-Car Exterior visuals are poor and badly shaded.-AI are invincible like not moving off line when hit (even when hit very hard)they do seem on rails and make few mistakes if any.-Loading times can be frustrating especially with every restart.-Qualy times sometimes bugged, AI setting impossible times allbeit with normal racepace. Resulting you starting at the back of the grid for 90% of races

I have been playing Race Pro for through this weekend and bought the game through Amazon so I thought Id give my verdict on it.Race Pro comes with many options in terms of game modes, tracks and cars with a range options of difficulty. In terms of racing the physics of the car handling are amazing, and true to what game says it is very realistic. Menu navigation is very simple and tuning options very easy to alter. There is a good mix of real, street and track circuits and is very much aimed for the more hardcore player.Where Race Pro does fall flat is the most notably, the AI, graphics and online functions. The AI (computer operated cars) are very dumb i.e.braking in acclerating zones and usually go round the track in a big huddle. The AI can also throw you out of the pits in the most undrivable scenarios. The graphics are not the best compared to the likes of Forza, Dirt or even Project Gotham, and the screen can suffer from frame rate issues. The online is very annoying however, suffering from constant disconnections and poor gameplay.Overall the game is a good solid attempt at a hardcore simulation, although lacking in presentation and online playability. With a short time a patch or two may be able to bring the online upto standard and sort out the AI to bring Simbins racer upto speed.

Race pro is a great game, The handling of the cars is ultra realistic and with each dirrent car you must hone your skills to perfect the drving tequnique. One of my favorite features is the fact you can tweek your car to suit your own driving style. The career mode is good best played on the hardest level otherwise its just too easy and the AI cars have no chance. On the career mode you do have to play into it before it gets exciting. To start with its only 2 laps of the circuit if you make a mistake you struggle to catch back up, especially in the Mini. Thankfully you get more laps and better cars as you progress. The online play is brillint if you get all 12 people racing at the same time its a riot and hours of fun.On the downside the graphics lack. When compared to PGR 4 and Forza 2 it is left behind looking unpolished like it was pushed out to meet its deadline. On the whole if look past the graphics and concentrate on playing the game and not looking at the scenery then this is a must have title. Im giving it 5 stars becuse there is no 4.5 i can't cut a whole star for the graphics alone.

Race Pro is one of the best racing game available for Xbox 360 at the moment. It may not have the stunning graphics like the Forza titles, but if you are more of a sim fan you will definatley enjoy this. There is a good selection of cars and different classes, and the career mode will keep you busy for quite a while. You can customize the gameplay and difficulty settings so the get the perfect balance of fighting for positions during races, without speeding off into the distance. You also have the option of changing the number of laps....an option a lot of games seem to forget about, and I feel it is important to mention in a review. The overall gameplay is very good, the handling feels realistic,an the AI preforms very well. They will nudge you a little into a corner and try a sneaky overtake as they push you wide going out of the corner.Overall a very good racing simulation, probably the best so far. Good graphics, excellent AI, lenghty career & championship modes. If you like racing sim games and are ready for a challenge this is definatley worth a purchase.

I have finally found it... A game worthy of the good ol' TOCA games. I have been waiting for years to play a modern day game that is as much fun as the now very dated TOCA 1 & 2 games were. I am a BIG fan of touring car racing and ever since codemasters brought out "The Original" TOCA games I have loved playing racing games. I felt cheated/ripped off when they brought out the Race Driver games as they didn't seem to be up to scratch.Race Pro has everything you need in a racing sim. The graphics are fair, the gameplay is awesome, the computer AI is rather realistic as they bump into you, overtake you etc, just like in real life. The drivability of the game is great, they seem to have adapted the game rather well to the Xbox 360, it is easy to get used to.The only fault I can find with the game is the 2 player. You don't get the split screen option like you do with other games. Instead you have a race where each player has a set amount of time to drive whilst the other player watches. My verdict - BUY IT, it's one of the best racing games around.

Having played GTR legends and GTR Evolution on the PC I was expecting this to be pretty impressive, and on the whole I`m not let down, okay it`s not as polished visually as Forza 2, but to compare would be missing the point, for an actually driving experience I think its a notch or two ahead of Forza, and the handling more realistic. I found with the controller the cars easier to manage, although looking forward to playing both games with my new wheel when it arrives. The only really disappointing feature I`ve found so far is the lack of damage with collisions and crashes, for a Sim this is not good at all,as for the online game can`t comment as not tried it yet.If the damage was more realistic I probably would have given it 5 stars.I think the game was designed to be played on pro level, and although no expert myself I`m finding it tough but manageable with some success and some failure, there is no option just to keep upgrading your car so much that you eventually just blow your opponents away(e.g Forza,)

This game does look great and i will be giving it a spin but why as with recent releases such as GRID and Pure is there no multiplayer splitscreen mode included? All these games are great fun and look gorgeous in 1 player mode but then whoops no splitscreen. The 360 is well capable of delivering the goods as proved with Forza 2, yes the graphics suffer a bit but you just accept that. I can't help feeling the lack of splitscreen is a big step backwards in these heady next gen days (how many ps2 racers didn't feature splitscreen?) and down to shear laziness on the behalf of the developers.I know you can race against 10 other people online and thats great but sometimes all you want is to sit downwith a mate and rub their face in it big style when you pip them over the finish line by a lick of paint! Or is it just me?? Im sure this will be a good game but I also think "hot seat mode" is just a cheap way to dodge implementing splitscreen and the game will be worse for it. Any thoughts?

if your looking for a pretty on the eye game that you can have a quick blast on this is not for you.if you want a no nonsense sim, then it is fantastic!you have to put the time in on this one, but when you do it gets better and better.you can not just slam on the breaks into a corner and then slam on the gas out of it, this is a sim!you can make alot of adjustments not only to the cars but to the sound aswell to get the most out this game, you have to wack the tyre sound right up for instance.the graphics are not that bad, and you dont really notice them cause your mostly concentrating on your line braking & so on,there is tearing though which can be bad which will be fixed by a patch i would think.at the moment there is a problem with online play which atari are working on.also people are complaining about the lack of FFB with the wheel, but people have found a way of getting that to work.do not dissmiss this game, it takes time and patients, but its worth it in the end.

This is a valiant attempt at a proper console racing sim from SimBin, better known for their high quality GTR sim racing series on PC.The presentation isn't what you could call polished. But there are plenty of accurately modelled cars and tracks, and the actual driving and racing is solid, though the track environments feel somewhat barren and there are occasional graphical tearing issues. The usual racing game modes are present and correct, with hot lapping, career mode, multiplayer and online races to amuse you.Unfortunately, the experience is marred for wheel owners by an annoying force feedback bug that requires you to start the game with a controller, then sign out and sign back in with the wheel to get force feedback to work. And of course, nowadays there's hardly anyone to race against online. But if you just like tinkering with and tuning virtual cars, and fancy an alternative to the mighty Forza Motorsport series, you won't go far wrong with this.
