Pyrex originally used Borosilicate in their glass product as my mother used her Pyrex dishes for many years, in fact for so long and at such a high heat that they ended up so blackened we couldn't see anything through them. Apparently Pyrex was taken over by someone else who used something other which caused the dishes to shatter if they were put in at too high a temperature (so sayeth the all wise Mr Google anyway). They now produce two types, one with Borosilicate which is expensive and one with whatever the other stuff is which is cheaper.Always buy the stuff with Borosilicate no matter the price, as you will not regret it; like

I'd forgotten how versatile Pyrex is. I did an aubergine bake in it, lots of mozzarella etc, lovely brown crispy edges. It washed up like a dream. Just the right size for two good-sized portions (could stretch to three). I'll look at the range and buy more.

I love pyrex products and this glass ware it's awesome. Easy to clean- aldo sometimes you need to presoak. Its glass so you can use sharp knifes or metal spatula and it won't leave scratches.
