TRIAL=====Over the years I have probably tried 30 different LED bulbs. Some have been exceptionally bad whilst some have been exceptionally good. If you're like me you want something that'll simply replace your existing bulb with a much more cost effective replacement.SIZE====These are the small little bulbs that can sometimes be in lamps, we have the principle light with this type of connection.CLAIMS======Some bulbs claim to last a lifetime or have the lumens (light) to shine to the moon.EQUIVALENT==========This is 320 lumens equivalent to a 25-30 watt bulb. (but it's quite bright.)CRI===80. What is it? Amazon: 'The Colour Rendering Index (CRI)describes ability of light source to reproduce the colour of an item as it would be seen in natural light or sunlight. It is measured on a scale from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best colour reproduction.'Less than 70 gives a grey washed out look. So 80 is fine.COLOUR TEMPERATURE==================2700 Kelvin. Which is warmBUILD QUALITY=============Very well made. No flaws, no rattling, no flimsiness. Looks and feels a quality bulb.PRICE=====(Dec 2017) These are about 2 times the price of a normal bulb. Given the lifespan and the saving on electricity it'll save money. Someone else can do that calculation.ENERGY======A++RECOMMENDED===========Yes, it's a nice, warm, cost-effective replacement.I will update this review if I have any failure or anything changes.

As long as you favour warm white, these are potentially excellent replacement G9 bulbs. They're certainly as bright as 40W halogens, according to my camera. The main problem is the size, of course. Even though I knew the dimensions, I was surprised at just how bulky they were. They may well be significantly superior to the much cheaper and smaller LED G9s I’ve been using for some years (without failures or other problems), but if they’re too big to go in the fittings they’re useless.I might be prepared to accept the high price, if they were smaller, even though we have at least 30 G9s in the house, but they’re too big for our lamps. The CRI isn’t great either, at 80, and they’re non-dimmable.On the other hand, they’re instant-on and completely hum-free and flicker-free.If these fit your lamps, you want warm white and don’t use a dimmer switch, they may well be worth paying for. You’ll save a lot of electricity – 36.2 watts. How they arrive at “energy consumption 5 kWh/1000h” in the description is beyond me but, assuming 3 hours/day average and a tariff of 13p/kWh, the cash saving per bulb is more than £5 p.a.. In other words, the bulbs pay for themselves in 18 months and then you’re in profit. And, if they last the promised 15,000 hours, it’ll be 13 years before you have the hassle of changing them.

The cheap halogen (and even LED) G9 bulbs that I have been buying for my kitchen lights blow with annoying frequency. As changing them involves getting out the step ladder (or talking nicely to someone taller than me!), if this bulb really lasts 15 years as it says on the package, then I will be very pleased. It gives the right level of lighting for me (slightly brighter than the bulbs I have been using), and has a nice warm tone. But really, £7.00 for one bulb? I might not even be living here in 15 years’ time!NB: be warned that this bulb is considerably larger than a standard G9 – you can see from the picture that it stands well proud of the light shade compared with the other bulb – only youcan decide if this is a problem for your particular light fitting.

I like Osram bulbs as I know that they’re going to be good quality. This one is as good as others that I have had, and it fits perfectly, offering a good light which is accurate with the description. For most lights my preference is a ‘warm white’ tone, so this bulb is just right. These G9 bulbs in LED form don’t look as nice as the old-fashioned halogen bulbs, and they’re also larger in size. Because of that they won’t suit every purpose, which is a shame. In some cases I haven’t yet switched my G9 bulbs to LED purely because they would look terrible, but as technology improves I’m hoping that the bulbs may be available in smaller physical sizes.

LED bulbs are absolutely the way to go: something like 10x more energy efficient than conventional equivalentsThis is another good example of the sort. It is expensive, but it is also certainly quality: a consistent light, a good equivalence to the halogen light colour (I've had cheap Chinese ones which are either very yellow or even violet shades) and a realistic substitute for a 40W conventional bulb. the long lifetime of these bulbs is also a significant strengththe only downside is that this is significantly larger than conventional bulbs so be aware of how this will (or won't) fit before you purchase

With 3 kitchen lampshades each using 6 x G9 bulbs, I have sometimes felt like a full time electrician, changing bulbs practically every day. In two years we have got through more than 20. So the promise of a very long lasting LED version is very appealing. At this price you’d need it to last a while but if you have a wear out rate of 20 per year a slow replacement campaign could be very cost effective. You need to look at the dimension though - the LED bulb is much bigger though it fits the G9 socket - so it won’t be suitable for everyone. And of course the lifetime needs to be confirmed...

This is great. I only have one G( bulb in the house in a light very high up in a vaulted ceiling shower room which was in situ when I bought my house a few years ago. It had a halogen bulb which I needed long ladders to reach to replace when it failed. I tried two halogens that both failed within days so has not been operational for a while but this LED light has been a success. It has a bright clear light with no flicker and is still going strong a few months on. It comes securely packaged and slipped into the fitting easily. It also feels safer as it does heat up like the halogen bulbs.

At long last, a bulb that does indeed light up as bright as it claims to (in this case 40W). That’s what you get when you buy established brands rather than cheap tat from elsewhere. Yes, they’re expensive but at least they work as advertised. A minor point is that the bulb is ever so slightly thicker than most others you can buy which might make it a bit trickier to install in your light fitting but they work as advertised and I recommend them.

I take any LED replacement bulbs as long as I have the lamp holder. This will Osram G9 will get me that bit closer to having 100% LED's in the house. The light is so much better, it uses less power for more light and this particular bulb comes with a 15 Year Warranty and all this for less than £8. Direct replacement, straight into the fitting - sorry, I just can't help myself this is BRILLIANT!

I've been trying to find a suitable LED version of this bulb for a while now. These are easily as bright as the halogen bulbs they replaced, possibly a bit brighter, with a nice warm colour. The best thing is there is NO FLICKERING unlike the cheaper brands sold by Amazon. The bulb is bigger than halogen equivalent so check the dimensions carefully before purchasing.

These are exactly what you need out of a G9 LED bulb, but £7 a bulb is a bit on the steep side. That being said they're bright, the light is of good quality and they don't suffer from any kind of flickering or strobe effect that I can see, probably one of few products of any description that actually live up to the billing for once, but £7 a bulb?

To be honest I am a fan of led lights just because my kids leave lights on in the house all the time, I thought that they will give out the cool blue colour but it is like having a normal G4 bulb. I will say they are quite big from the standard bulbs so I would recommend you definitely double check be for buying them.

4.3.2018

Only just fitted them so can't comment on longevity however I can say they give a great, even, and all round light. If I was being fussy I would say they are a bit looser fitting than the halogens or 300lm LED bulbs in before. I don't think that should be a problem, just an observation.

Excellent light output. Due to the design of the outer case, light isnt concentrated and its nice and even. These are a big jump over the 2.1 and 2.8W LED's you can get which are quite dim by comparison. It may seem pricey, but these are the best you can get.

4.1.2019

Replaced a generic 3w Led with 300lumen output with the Osram bulb. An extra 0.8w results in over a 50% increase in light output. Regarding the size of these bulbs. It’s more the circumference than the length that’s significantly larger than most G9 bulbs.
