You often read that an LED lamp is a direct replacement for a 50W dichroic lamp and are inevitably disappointed. HOWEVER, this lamp is truly a direct replacement. Really good light and can believe the claimed 621 lm output. Don't be put off by the image of the lamp, it looks like the diffuser and number of LED's would combine to give a wide spread of diffuse light. HOWEVER, they give a good beam of light certainly within the claimed cone of 36 deg.Have tried this lamp with both electronic LED drivers and with old 240/12V transformers and they work with both. They are expensive, but having just binned 20 cheap 9W LED lamps from China after a month of constant failures and very poor light output,

It is beautifully shaped like a cone. Gives more light then the regular one. You can still see trough the glass: the shiny yellow wires with LEDs.I have some of them, but that one arrived not working (-:
