If you already have the great little 45mm f1.8 from Olympus, what do you gain by spending all the extra money on the f1.2? The answer is, more than just a bit of extra light gathering power.I have both and while the f1.8 is a nice little lens for the money, it doesn't really compare with the f1.2 in terms of sharpness/detail, contrast and 'that special look' that's so hard to describe. The 1.8 takes very nice photos, but the 1.2 is capable of taking remarkable photos. If you are!I also have the fabulously sharp 75mm f1.8. The f1.2 isn't eye-wateringly sharp like that lens is. Instead, it's super detailed, but more natural. I wondered if it was a bit soft at first, but I don't think so.It seems to have extra resolution compared to other lenses, and gives you extra leeway for sharpening if you want to do that in post processing. it's a joy to zoom in on the details. Micro contrast and colour are things that you think cameras or post processing can compensate for, but it has to be in the lens to start with. The f1.8 version needs a lot of extra contrast applying to get it close to what you get out of the camera with the f1.2. That's where the 'pop' comes from.It also comes from being able to use the lens at a wider aperture and be nearer the sweet spot, instead of having to stop down (to f4 perhaps). Still, at f1.2 the lens clearly isn't as sharp as it is even at f1.4, so that headline aperture is best used only when you really need it and perhaps care less about edge sharpness.I take most of my photos at classic car shows and need a camera/lens that doesn't mind getting a bit wet now and then, so the weather sealing is a must for me. The cheaper lenses don't have it. I've used my EM-5 Mk II and this lens in pouring rain with no ill effects. The lens is built like a tank, has a programmable function button, Olympus's very nice pull-back manual focus ring, and an included plastic lens hood. It's roughly as big and heavy as the 12–40 f2.8 pro zoom – the biggest downside apart from the hilarious price. The thing about lenses though is that they hold their value well so you can sell it later on and not lose too much.No other lens has given me photos that look more pro than this.

During all my years as a professional photographer (and now also filmmaker), I have rarely encountered a lens with this degree of perfection.Sharp already wide open—although with razor thin depth of field, I use it mostly from f1.6 on—, beautiful bokeh, perfect balance on pro Panasonic bodies. Manual focus works like a charm; finder magnification is engaged automatically, when the manual focus is used with the phantastic clutch. Even the F-N Button works on my GH5, I set it to "stop autofocus while pressed." IBIS works well, and so far, I didn't miss additional in-lens optical stabilization. This lens exceeded my expectations, and it will hopefully serve me for many years to come!

The lens itself doesn't have image stabilization, as Olympus put their image stabilization in the camera body, and it's the best image stabilization in the world. This is one truly superb lens. Try Googling for YouTube reviews of this lens, as there's far to many superlatives to put into a text review.I'm a professional photographer of 40 years experience, and this is one of my favourite lenses. If you're into portrait photography, then it is an absolute 1st choice lens.

If you can afford it this is the go to portrait lens for the Olympus camera system. It has amazing low light capabilities, it is sharp wide open. Its expensive but worth every penny and exceeds the equally excellent 45mm f i.8. It's much more than a fast weather sealed lens your portraits will have the most beautiful look
