This is about as good as this kind of software gets at this price. A doddle to set up, the training and introduction package works well (including for a 10-year old dyslexic), and the more you use it, the better it gets. To get the best from it you do need to devote some time to learn the various commands, but the card that comes with it is a useful prompter. I am using it to write this piece of feedback, and so far I have not had to make more than a couple of corrections to the words that it has put on the screen. One thing to be aware of that isn't explained anywhere on the packing or indeed on the website, is that this includes a licence for up to 5 devices,so that you pay under £100 for something that you can then use for pretty much all the family desktops, laptops, and tablets. As each device can have multiple profiles stored, it is no problem for different users to share accounts, or of course for each user to have their own account on a device with Dragon set up for each account.Another useful trick is to save each user profile on something like Google drive or in dropbox, so that whenever you update it on one device the updated profile is available to all your devices as long as they have access to your cloud computing drives. This is easiest if done on setup but can always be done afterwards if you want. All told, this is probably the best value software I have bought for sometime, and for anybody who is dyslexic it is a fantastic tool, especially for children because they will pick up how to use Dragon very quickly, and they get instant feedback and success from it, so find it quite rewarding to use. This version comes with an automatic upgrade to version 12.5, and includes a perfectly good twin Jack headset microphone; not the most expensive in the world but simple to set up and very easy-to-use.

I bought Dragon v12 a couple of months ago having used Dragon v11.5 intermittently for two months before that and whilst I cant really testify to the "superiority" of the newer version, it is nevertheless simply brilliant. For me there were no installation issues, nor any start-up issues although I quickly decided to buy a decent microphone which certainly made a huge difference. I am a School Administrator and I am now able to assess all of my students' work "verbally" and seamlessly in Word, Excel or Powerpoint, speak answers to endless emails in a much more timely fashion, speak speeches, Assembly notes and so forth, as well as do almost all of my own letters to stakeholders within the School and Community of which I am a part - any time and anywhere.Students seem to be immensely appreciative of the comprehensive comments I now give on their work and parents and others are surprised and enthusiastic about the speed of my replies and the comprehensive nature of my responses to them. All this has been possible thanks to Nuance Dragon software which simply saves me every day! Out of the box, the software was about 95% accurate but its rate of "learning" is amazing - it sorted through my emails and documents looking for names and writing idiosyncrasies which it could, in future, recognise, and it has since appropriated these into its own dictionaries thereby making even fewer errors. I have to "try" quite hard to fool it now - it is gold for me and my work.It is NOT perfect but it is SO good that any complaints are, in my view, churlish - it's a business lifesaver - buy it! I did and I am delighted!

My reason for buying this software is because I am currently suffering from swelling in my fingers and am trying to reduce the amount of typing that I do.Prior to buying the software I had experimented with Windows 7 voice recognition as this was free. I guess free isn't always good.So far I have been able to use NaturallySpeaking to generate a technical White Paper, a fairly lengthy and wordy technical email response as well as general emails and, of course, write this review.I found the software to be very responsive and generally very accurate and I particularly like the way that it has scanned my email sent box to pick up on my regular terms, which means that the more obscure words that I use in my industry and company names are correctly capitalised and spelled. My accent is south London mixed with West Sussex and the occasional stumble over a word during a sentence and my pronunciation of the letter 'R' is a little like Jonathan Ross and, despite all this, NaturallySpeaking has, I would estimate, hit the accuracy of well over 90% and I am very impressed.Of course it isn't fool proof and it does drop the occasional clanger, but, provided one proof reads what's been written I feel it will be a great time saver for me and even more importantly will reduce the amount of typing I have to do tremendously.Top marks to Nuance for what I consider to be a very good product

I have considered getting this product for some while, but after owning a similar product some years ago I was very very apprehensive. I had to wait a while for delivery, but it was definitely worth the wait. Installation was very easy, setting up the mic was easy, and within a few minutes I was up and runningI ordered it together with a Sennheiser PC7 Corded USB Noise Cancelling PC Headset as I thought it might be better than the standard one. I don't really know if it was because I didn't try the original. However I found wearing a headset very uncomfortable, and answered the question I couldn't really find the answer to, I didn't need a headset at all, a microphone will do, playback can be via my speakers. So having gone this far decided to buy a good spec mike and chose the Buddy DesktopMini 7G - Black - USB Desktop Microphone w/ Optional Push-To-Talk Functionality. What a set-up, with very little practice I have just written a 10 page report. I think with bit of practice I could minimise the corrections - remember its only software its not a human, 99.5% efficiency is good enough for me.Watching it work is absolute magic, I wish I hadn't hesitated - In summary I am more than impressed, quite unusual for me!

I bought this as I have difficulties hitting the correct keys with my fingers. My first attempt at a review managed to close down my PC! It is early days yet but the product seems easy to use on a basic level but there are all sorts of short cuts to learn that will make it even more useful in the future I am sure. No issues with it crashing my computer so far.I went to see a friend who has Dragon V12 and his only gripe was that the head set it comes with has two plugs on it not a USB fitting. So thinking I was being clever and having read other reviews I bought a noise reducing head set and an USB adapter.Only to find that the box contained a USB adapter and a two plug to one audio plug adapter as well as the rather basic head set.I wish they would say in the advert and on the box what the contents are! Wasted a few quid buy items I did not need. The quick start guide is fine if you have used Dragon before but as a new user I felt like I was thrown in at the deep end. Find the tutorials and bash through them a few times. Problem is it does tell you where the tutorials are!!

Nowhere in the product description (as far as I can remember) was there an indication that the program was on a DVD not a CD. I thus concluded that it was defective as it did not run on my PC (and because there is nothing visual about the program I did not expect it to be on a DVD and did not therefore notice the DVD symbol on it)! When the products was exchanged the penny dropped and I went out and bought an external DVD drive (I don't watch DVDs on my PC and had no reason to have such a drive for any other purpose). Then it transpired that the RAM on my PC was inadequate for the memory demands of the Dragon. So I bought additional memory. So finally .... I have now tested the product and am very happy with it.Its accuracy is far better than in earlier versions (the highest I had before was Dragon 6) and it operates well in Word (including editing instructions which did not work in Word in my early version) so I need fewer disambiguating versions of words that are often confused.

I bought this product with some trepidation, as I've tried other versions of Dragon previously and was dissappointed as the accuracy wasn't that good and in my case got worse as I went through the training excercises, to the point where it was unusable.....so I gave up. Version 12 however seems to be a major leap forward, and it worked straight out of the box just by reading a few (and I mean a few) standard phrases. Absolutely delighted with it, though I wish the standard commands were more UK friendly (most people in the UK that I know use "open bracket" not "open parentheses". Apart from minor niggles, it now works well (even with transcription from handheld voice recorders),and I'm delighted with it........it's saving me hours and hours. I've even written this review using Dragon 12, and it didn't make any errors. Finally a voice recognition programme that works properly. Highly Recommended.

This was my first experience of Dragon - and what an experience! Within a short time I was talking to my computer and getting a perfect read back. It has to be said that it takes a time to speak in phrases rather than a few words at a time. But before long you get the hang of it and form the phrases in your head before you start speaking. Consistency is the name of the game.I found it best to shut yourself away during long spells because the microphone is so sensative it will pick up surrounding noise - particularly if somebody speaks to you, however softly. Don't expect too much too soon. It takes time and patience to get the full benefit of this package. The speaking back is extremely good and even gives you an idea of where your punctuation should be!I would have liked the choice of a male voice to read back to me. But this is a minor point.

Voice recognition software really has come on leaps and bounds over the last 20 years, which is when I first tried Dragon software.Back in those days, it really was a waste of time since you spent as long correcting the errors as you would have done typing it in in the first place. These days, however, things have changed dramatically and version 12 is almost perfect. For classic "two fingered typists" such as myself, it makes producing something like this an absolute breeze whereas, formally, it would have been very difficult and demanding.I have dictated all the above and, so far, there have been no errors.I heartily recommend this excellent (but a very complex)software. The installation process is very complex – you need to allow about two hours for this process

I work full time, and studying at University. This is my second year, and the work load increases especially the writing upand when you are time limited also. This product was recommended to me by another student, I looked into it to what it could dofor me and whether worth buying and would it suit my needs. I now wish I had bought this when I first started last year,it would have saved some tired fingers I have just started to use it and now would not be with it. I have recommended Dragon to other friends, and too another friend to help there child. I picked this version, the reason being is so that I can link it to my phone when I need to make notes, and to my recorder. This came with a microphone,it was worth the cost.

I have used versions 10, 11 and the free upgrade to 11.5. Version 12 is very much improved and I can recommend it.One particularly annoying occurrence in previous versions has been prevented. That was the infuriation attempt to post an email if one should mistakenly say 'send' as part of the body text.It would also be handy if the prog was capable of scanning sent emails for style when using Thunderbird as the prog. While the prog still makes mistakes, it will speed up your writing if you, like me, are not the world's greatest typist. There is, of course, the need to correct the mistakes manually after reading in the input. While I have a few niggles with the prog,it is definitely value for money and a time saver.

This is an amazing piece of software.Within minutes of the set-up, which wasn't difficult, it was accurately turning speech into text. We did have to get a different headset - there was a problem with the "jack" type interfering with the Realtek sound card on my computer and we've swapped it for a bluetooth - but this was a small price to pay for the results. It's easy to navigate and faster than typing - even touch-typing. It's early days, but I can already see that it's a great investment and one I wish I'd discovered years ago.

This version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking premium is an exceptional item and although not the professional version which is over £500 it's extremely good value for money. In fact the price was so good it was better than the special offer that was on the go by the manufacturer of the product. I've sent this to my niece who's had an accident and broken her ankle so this will be helpful rather than doing keyboard work for her job working from home. There is an update I think to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.5 on this version.

Our son asked for this because he wants to write a book and obviously struggles with his literacy. So far it seems to be going well, the installation went without hitch (always a plus) and it seems to be running well on his laptop without any crashes although he does have a very up to date machine so I don't know what it would be like on older tech.Tip - it came supplied with a headset in the box so no need to buy another (I don't think that was clear from the product description).

Brilliant, takes a while to get used to, but then once tamed the Dragon is awesome. My husband was so impressed that the dragon understood my speech and the medical language- he had to have his own! Dragon makes writing reports / letters and emails so much quicker. Each Dragon needs training to its owner; it can 'learn' complete phrases that are typed with a unique command. BRILLIANT A DEFINITE RECOMMEND. Voice recognition is here.
