Purchased this Morphy Richards whilst it was in the Amazon 'Black Friday' offers, so paid just a little under £50 (from a supposed full price of nearer £150).In all honesty, I don't know why reviewers have given this negative comments. For one, it DOESN'T open when you simply walk past - you have to 'pause' your hand (or an object) in front of the sensor for the bin lid to open, you get a few seconds to drop whatever rubbish you need to into it, then the lid closes (quietly).Another complaint from more than one reviewer is the battery compartment cover and batteries falling into the rubbish. HOW?! There is a very positive 'click' of the cover when you put it on,so unless you then drop the lid down onto the bin from a height of perhaps 50ft., that cover isn't going to just drop off!The first one of these arrived damaged (despite being in a double-walled box), but Amazon replaced it and had delivered the new one within 48 hours, so no faults there. All in all a very good quality product, but not worth the RRP that was advertised. We paid close on £50 for a non-sensor bin a few years ago, but the foot pedal opener had broken, hence this purchase. Very pleased!

A lovely looking good/heavy quality bin - 4 stars because the plastic lid is quite flimsy. Having said that, I don't think that this will be an issue...because you don't touch it! I have read the other reviews and can confirm that:1. The plastic battery cover did initially drop off when first installed - this was my fault, as I had not clicked it into place correctly. No problem now2. You can fit the bin liner so that it is NOT seen - I use a large (definitely over 50L) black bin liner, as my old bin was slightly bigger3. There is no 'inner bin', but this is not an issue, if you put the bin liner in correctly - see point 2 above4. It does indeed open by itself.....but only when my bum is directly facing it.Walking past has not been an issue so far5. You can register for a 5 year guarantee on line @ Morphy Richards. Note that there is no serial number required - only the product number, which is on the box. Keep your receipt though6. As with all bins of this type - if you over fill it, it WILL be difficult to empty....I am trying to educate the rest of the family!

I have had this product for about a month now and it has proved to be even better than expected. It arrived promptly and with no issue, in a very well packaged parcel. Was easy and simple to assemble with clear instructions. It requires a few AA batteries but these are standard and easy to replace, when the time comes. Looks great and because of its shape, is extremely handy for narrow spaces. Replacing the bin bag is also very straightforward - just lift the lid, remove the bag holder and replace the bag. The bag holder ring is not that sturdy and will not hold heavy weights but so far it has worked fine for our normal bin liner. The opening mechanism works very well.It can be quite sensitive so will open if something is waved over it unintentionally. Therefore, locate the bin in an area where this would be less likely to happen. All in all, a great product at a very good price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this last night and couldn't wait to un-box it......I'm so desperately sad! I blame lockdown! Well it looks perfect in the kitchen and is a super design that fits in well with all my cupboards and flooring. Great that it's hands free as I can just approach it and hey presto open sesame! The lid closure is pretty quiet and doesn't make lots of noise and even my cats didn't even look up from their food as it was being opened and closed. Love that there isn't any exposed metal work or springs as i always found my old bin lid very difficult to get clean and soon went very rusty and always looked dirty.Hopefully I will not have too much difficulty finding replacement liners but i shall check online. Very Chuffed. It would be a boon for someone elderly or disabled

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter got this for me for Christmas and i love it. It looks great and it's so easy to keep clean. The chrome ring around the top can be prone to fingerprints, but compared to my fully chrome top-to-bottom bin, it's so easy to clean. My only issue with it is the length of time it takes for the bin to open when you wave your hand in front of the sensor, but I'm sure I'll get used to that with time. The size of the bin is just right. It's slightly taller than my old one, and the bin liners that came with it are a perfect fit too. They're a little bit tight, but it's a snug fit.The plastic ring that came with it is so handy. It hides the bin liner and it leaves it looking much cleaner.I'm very happy with this product. I'm already looking for another one!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ordered this to replace my old sensor bin which was a different make but had sadly died. Having researched different makes and models I chose this one. Very pleased so far. Looks great in black and is neat enough to fit the space in the kitchen. The sensor is very responsive and closes again after a few seconds. I had to jiggle the bin liner a bit so it doesn’t show when the lid goes on but it’s stayed in place with the retainer ring. It makes a bit of a noise when operating but nothing I can’t get used to. Perfect for hands free rubbish disposal. Would highly recommend. Lesson learnt from previous sensor bin .....be careful when you clean the lid not to get any water in the mechanics. Just a damp cloth should do the trick.

Does exactly what it says in the title. Good sized bin, sensor works well, only downside is it automatically closes after about five seconds - a bit annoying if you’re scraping a plate and it’s a bit fiddly. It isn’t a heavy lid so at most it taps your hand gently as it closes and it stops if there’s any resistance but I’d expected to need to wave over the sensor again to close the lid, or get a bit longer before it automatically closed. Not the end of the world and doesn’t affect its use negatively at all. Some questions were asked about opening it without the sensor working - there’s a little lip in the lid so it’s easy to pull up manually.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this as a replacement for my old Dihl sensor bin and wow this is so much better. It’s so good I’m glad the old one broke. The mechanism is smooth and although the sensor is in a slightly different place, it’s a much better configuration. The on off switch is also on the inside of the bin, which is a big improvement from my old one where it continuously got accidentally switched off when pushed up against the wall.

Really nice luxurious feeling of the bin opening itself but...the bin is very thin and tall making removing the full bin liner very difficult it gets stuck on the rant on top of it its definitely a two people's job as well the bin shuts itself after a very short time a sensor would be better to fit for that price it's not offering much to be honest. You have to buy special long dedicated bin liners well I'm not doing that using just a normal one's.

Nice style a bit spoilt by the fact the lid does not hide the top of the liner bags, sort of lets down the sophistication.Update: now I realise that the top of liner bags can be hidden by inserting under the plastic rim and folding the top of the bag inwards over the separate plastic rim. My only criticism now is the lid could stay open longer, not enough time to empty dust from my bagless hover before it tries to shut.

Great product. Very pleased with the look, it’s sleek and professional looking and works great. In the instructions it says you have to have your hand a certain distance from the sensor well I found this distance to be made up as I had to have my hand a lot closer, around about and inch away It’s no issue for me, stops accidentally opening as you walk past but If it’s an inch say an inch not something else.

This is expensive for a bin, however I feel is worth it, as the bin is actually metal (unlike many of the same price which are plastic made to look like metal). The sensor opening is great (although can be a bit annoying if the bin is placed too close to a walk way as the bin will open when you walk past. The capacity is good, the free bin bags included are.a nice bonus and smell lovely. Fast delivery.

The bin is so nice, much better than high street brand. I first bought the 42 L, but was to small, so changed for the 50L and it is perfect, the open and close mechanism is great, very stylish. I found dealing with the electrical emporium very professional and friendly, a very reliable company, I would buy from them again, speedy service with a helpful lady at the other end, all the best !!

Looks good in the kitchen matches the kettle & the toaster colour wise.Easy to look after just a damp cloth around the outside now and then.Even though it looks smaller than some I have seen, it holds a lot.I have had this bin for nearly a year now and I cannot praise it enough, it's a workhorse still using original batteries, and looking as good as the day it was purchased.

Great bin. I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the lid. The sensor is so sensitive it activates every time you walk past the bloody thing. Then, when your want to scrape the remains of the children's dinner into the bin, it gives you about a nano second to do it! Well, 7 seconds, but either way it's not enough time. Apart from that, it's probably the best bin I've ever owned.
