[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK, so I didn't strictly need a new bin. I just saw one of these awesome ones in a family member's kitchen & really, really wanted one! When we had a lot of flies in the kitchen one day, I seized the opportunity - it was the fault of our kitchen bin's ill-fitting lid!We searched online and found good reviews about Morphy Richards - and our own experience with kettles & toasters confirmed that this was the manufacturer we wanted to go for. I didn't want to wait for an online delivery and I also want to keep local shops in business so we trudged around until we found one in stock locally. When we got it home,we found it securely yet minimally packaged and therefore easy to extract from its polystyrene & plastic cocoon. That's important to us, we hate seeing lots of unnecessary plastic packaging. We actually used the plastic as the first bin liner, it fitted exactly. We realised too late that we hadn't checked to see if we needed to buy a special battery. But the leaflet inside said we needed standard AAs - which we always have in the junk drawer for TV remote emergencies! The bin was working only a minute after opening the box. The lid opens & closes smoothly, without banging noises, just a nice, almost imperceptible electric hum to let you know it's working & not to bother it at the moment. (My daughter says the sound is reminiscent of the doors on Star Trek ... ooookaaay.)On top of being highly functional, it's also beautiful. Sleek & slim - how we'd all like to look.It holds standard black bin bags, which means you can stuff a lot in there before pretending to be busy & hoping someone else does the job of emptying it. However, it's really easy to empty and add a new bag, thanks to a nifty little ring that goes around the top, under the lid, which is easy to get on and off and holds the bag in place. This bin is so unlike our last bin that we feel we've finally arrived in the 21st century.I'm delighted with it and so are my whole family. Technology goes down well with kids and young adults - they actually put rubbish in the bin now!The only person who isn't pleased with it is our dog. It's slightly too tall for his nose and he hasn't figured out how to open it ... yet. He'll notice the stepladder soon.

This is my second Morphy Richards sensor bin as I accidentally killed the last one by careless cleaning (some cleaning spray got in the gubbins) so note...spray the cleaning spray onto a cloth then wipe .. don't spray onto the lid first in case it goes in the holes. My last bin was still going strong after 10 months though before I damaged it and I didn't hesitate to replace it with the same model .I got this bin initially as it fits perfectly into the gap under my work surface and was cheap for a relatively classy looking bin . The automatic opening also proves to be very useful when scraping plates etc ..but does take a bit of getting used to and you also have to find the right position so it doesn't open all the time and annoy you .The batteries last a surprisingly long time (several months!) . It takes 4 AA batteries .The bottom part is just a stainless steel bin .. all the motor etc is in the lid which is a chrome effect plastic .. you can buy replacement lids if they do break which currently works out at about half the price of the bin so not bad. This new one did seem to be much more sensitive than the last and was driving me up the wall with opening all the time . it was even opening by itself , which made us laugh and wonder if we had a ghost , but it has settled down now and is behaving itself . I suppose this is why I knocked a star off .. They are great little bins (the 42litre is quite petit) but they can be a little bit temperamental and clearly can vary a little bit based on my experience. I'll take a photo to show why I have stuck with this bin because it fits so nicely in my cavity. thank you .oh and by the way as you can see i've had to choose the smaller bin (it comes in a taller 50 litre version as well) so there is enough room for the lid to open without bashing the worktop.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This our second Morphy Richards Sensor Bin - we absolutely love them! The bins are well constructed and come with simple but effective features, like the ring around the top of the bin to keep the bag in place and the sturdy plastic base.By far the best feature is the sensor technology. When we bought our first bin we thought it was a gimmick but it has proved itself to be very useful. The sensor works well and easily identifies when you want it to open and is very responsive so there isn't any delay. There are very, very odd occasions where is doesn't sense you hand approaching but this might be 1 in every 30 - 40 attempts to place something in the bin.My mother-in-law liked our bin so bought a cheaper equivalent but she finds the bin opens if you walk past. Our first Morphy Richards bin is by our back door and we have not experienced any problems with it opening as you walk past.It is amazingly hygiene as your hand doesn't have to touch the bin so you don't have to worry about transferring dirt from your hands or germs to the bin.Our first bin (a larger cylindrical one) relied on 4 x D batteries and we found the opening to be a little noisy, at first although you soon get used to it. This slightly smaller bin is powered by 4 x AA batteries and seems a lot quieter. Battery life is very good but it is worthwhile sticking to a major brand rather than supermarket own batteries.I very much prefer this square bin as it fits into the corner better. It is so strange how you get use to it and when you're on holiday or visiting friends you have that moment where we wonder why their bin hasn't opened!A great addition to the house which we would thoroughly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's just like any ordinary kitchen bin, right? Wrong! It's anything but. This bin is compact, its takes up hardly any space, and that makes it easier to find a home for it in the kitchen. Because the lid opens automatically and it's quite gimmicky everyone in the family is using it. I don't seem to be clearing up after people anywhere near as much. This bin is slimmer and slightly taller than my old bin, that was a bit of a concern when I first got it out of its box. But I empty it the same amount as before. The sensor lid is fantastic, now I've had a bin with a sensor lid I wouldn't go back to the old style touch lid bin.Several visitors have commented on this bin. It's not normally something anyone takes any notice of, but the comments are always the same, "what a great gadget", "that's so much more hygienic", "it's very stylish". Who would have thought a kitchen bin could be referred to as stylish! I haven't found anything I don't like about it. If you'd have asked me the day I purchased it I would have said the size but having used it for a while now that concern was quickly dismissed. The fact that the whole family are just that little bit tidier as a result means it's a good buy as far as I am concerned!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this bin recently, so far, I'm liking it.I have to say it is taller than my older bin, does not take up too much space in the kitchen and the silver body and black lid looks simple but stunning. What I like the most and probably the most appealing about this item is that it has sensors to automatically open the lid, and automatically closes, which I find very useful when cooking since I do not want to be touching the lid whilst handling food. Risk of food poisoning. Makes my brothers put trash in the bin, they get lazy, but having to wave their hands pretending like they have powers makes them want to put their trash in the bin. Amazing.Other good points is that it is light weight and batteries isn't an issue 4xAA batteries. Disadvantage I would say is that the 10x bin liners that comes with it, you can't buy them in your local store. I guess using the old black bag would be fine as a replacement. I don't know why but it took quite some time to get the bin liner securely into the bin. And the lid can open accidentally - simple things like items that hover above the sensor. What about flies/bees? They come a lot during the summer. Overall, I like this product. I have not encountered any defects so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Morphy Richards 42 litre capacity Chroma Square red sensor bin is another example of innovation by Morphy Richards to bring you products designed to make life easier in the home. The bin operates on 4 AA batteries which can last an amazing length of time, opening and closing the bin lid every time you activate the sensor with a hand or body movement. This is especially helpful when both hands are in use and you need to open the bin since the bin opens for you! The clever design provides a captive plastic hoop beneath the top to hold a bin liner in place and this size of bin means less trips outside to the waste disposal to empty the contents of the bin.The design is so well engineered that a second bin was purchased to keep plastics separate from the general waste generated in a kitchen, and this has proven to be a worthwhile investment in modern technology you will not regret. Morphy Richards provide a 5 year guarantee on the product which further enhances the attraction of this product. A 5 star product in every respect, providing a graceful feature in any kitchen. Choose a colour to match your kitchen decor for a designer feature in any home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this not too long ago, was sceptical about the sensor function at first as some reviews had suggested it was bad. Product arrived well packaged and came with simple instructions (it’s a bin so not expecting booklets) unfortunately no batteries included but not the end of the world.Set the bin up and tried out the sensor straight away, I was very impressed with the responsiveness of it and despite many attempts to fool it into opening, by walking close by, waving near the side of the bin and leaning over it I cannot make it ‘fail’.The bin is metal finish and feels really solid when handling it,another nice touch is the chrome finish lid doesn’t show fingerprints or dog nose marks which is another unexpected bonus!Fitting a bag is easy as there’s an internal ring to hold the bag in place, it would have been nice to have an internal liner but that’s rare for most bins now so again not the end of the world.Waiting to see how the sensor will fare after a few months use but first impression is good and recommend this bin to anyone looking for a 60cm high medium capacity sensor bin.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new bin is now the highlight of our kitchen! We have friends who have had sensor bins for some time and I have always admired them so I decided to get our own, and we love it! It is a great form of amusement for my 88 year old mother who chuckles every time she puts something in the bin! There are lots of plus points to this bin including:Large capacityVery good qualityPerfect height to useRing inside top of bin to secure the linerEasy to empty and change the liner overThe batteries seem to last a long time, we haven't changed them yet but we use good quality batteriesVery easy to keep cleanAn attractive addition to the kitchen, who'd have thought the rubbish bin would take pride of place. My only non plus is that these bins are a bit on the expensive side, but they are very good quality and built to last; as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. And what price can you put on having a little daily chuckle?! Very pleased with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is absolutely amazing and most people who come into my kitchen ask me where I got it because they want one too. It looks so good and does such a great job too. The touch sensor control is super as you don’t have to touch the bin with your hands if you are in the middle of doing something else. People comment on how attractive it looks and the flashing led light is really cool and effective. This is actually the second bin like this I have bought, as I have an identical one in my utility room too, only in red. I think that shows how keen I am on it! Can’t really say anything bad about the bin, except maybe the fact that through overuse of my red bin,the lid fitting corroded and won’t open and close by touch now. I tried to get a replacement lid, but without success. Hence a new silver bin for the kitchen, and the red one out to the utility. Once you have a touch sensor bin as good as this one, you would never go back to the manual open and close one.

Great product. Seemed a bit gimmicky so I was hesitant at first but I am glad I took the leap. The bin is so convenient and hygienic. It used to be a pain having to lift the bin lid whilst cooking and washing my hands all the time, now I can just throw throw the rubbish away without touching dirty objects. The sensitivity of the sensors is spot on. It always opens on cue but doesn't open when you walk past it. It seems to detect objects from about 20cm away. If you were putting the bin in a tight space and were walking very close to the bin then there is a chance it will open when you don't want it to. With its looks you won't feel the need to tuck it away in a tight corner anyway. The only thing which could be improved is the plastic ring which holds the bin bag in.I'm sure there's probably a knack to it....I just haven't found it yet.I would definitely recommend getting one of these.P.s - if you have cats and they like sleeping on high objects, they may get a surprise when they try to sleep on this bin! ?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the 42 litre Chroma Sensor Bin recently.Being particularly hygiene conscious during this Covid-19 pandemic, I sought a sensor operated model. Also I preferred black with chrome to match other kitchen items. After resource investigating many other brands, the Morphy Richards was by far the best among the competition, in terms of quality of materials, sturdy construction, ease of operation and value for money.I was pleasantly surprised by the five year guarantee, which is a sure testament to Morphy Richards' confidence in their products. The three lemon fragrant strong bags were a welcome bonus. I shall definitely use these in the future.I use rechargeable AA batteries.I prefer the on/off switch is located on the underside of the lid. The 42 litre capacity is perfectly adequate for families. All in all, I am delighted with the product. Its sleek design would not look out of place anywhere in the home, office or even garden house.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the Morphy Richards 42L sensor bin. I must say I'm extremely pleased with the purchase. It might sound like a bit of a fad or unnessary gadget. However, once you have the sensor bin you will realise this is not the case. It has a lovely smooth action It both open and closes automatically The main bonus of this is you do not have to touch the lid or bin at all. If you are cooking you don't want to be continually having to stop to wash your hands as you have touched a bin. This helps you focus on the tasks you are carrying out. Also it makes the messy business of recycling more efficient and easy as you don't have to put down a messy recycling bag to open the bin ie your hands are free to man handle whatever you are putting in the binThese might seem small benefits but in the stress and rush of modern life they are a great help. I highly recommend this product it simple but so effective

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having purchased two bins 4 weeks ago its hard to think how much a bin could add to the home. This bins design and presence can take its place in any part of the home. While this bin looks great, its in the mechanics that it really stands out.It has an excellent retainer ring at the top of the bin cylinder which holds the bag in position and prevents the bag from falling into the bin as it gets heavier like many other bins. And the Sensor top is so efficient and so handy which opens as you have your hand a few inches from the lid and closes again after about 5 seconds.......this is really handy if you are using your two hands to put something into the bin,as it opens automatically for you. These two bins were a great buy and ideal for general rubbish and recycling and I would strongly recommend to any one thinking of purchasing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this sensor bin after seeing one on display in Roy's of Wroxham and today we have purchased the 50ltr one in chrome. The bin is extremely light in weight compared to other kitchen bins. The bins I know are extremely easy to clean because we have similar ones at our work place and the bin liners do not slip down into the bin as a plastic rim holds them in place which you can take on and off so easy to clean this part of the bin also. My two girls love to use it and is so hygienic due to the fact you don't have to touch anything whilst disposing of rubbish as it closes it'self and opens with the sensor. At the back of the lid it's got a switch which you can turn the bin off to save the batteries and you can also just use the open and close buttons to dispose of rubbish if you wish without u s ing the sensor.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bin is quite simply great. The sensor works pretty well, but the clever people at Morphy Richards have thought about this thoroughly, so you can open and close the lid with buttons, or you can turn the powered mechanism off at the back and use the handle in the lid. This is great for when the batteries die. I've seen so many sensor bins fail when this happens and you have no way to open the bin. It also has a genius piece of plastic that slots in around the top of the bin to wrap the top of the bin bag around, so you don't end up with the bin bag hanging out of the top of the bin and it prevents the bag sliding inside the bin when it gets fuller. So simple, but brilliantly effective. It also looks great, is easy to clean and is solidly built.
