I'm always looking for perfumes that will stay on my skin and generally find 'heavier' perfumes are better at doing so than lighter, citrusy ones. This is the first unisex perfume that I've ever tried and I wasn't sure what to expect. The product description emphasises the link to leather, which - I have to admit - was a bit of a concern as no one wants to smell of dead cow. However I was pleasantly surprised by the smell on my skin - it's quite musky and smoky and definitely reminds me of incense (which the manufacturer's are keen to stress) but the iris notes keeps it fresh and pleasant. I'd describe it as slightly more masculine than feminine - I certainly wouldn't use this as a day perfume in the office - but it would be ideal for evenings.I also found that the heavy nature of it meant that it stayed on my skin for a long time with the smell staying pleasant and complex as it fades.I can definitely see this as being one of those products that will divide opinion - you will either love it or hate it and I don't think it's the kind of product you can buy blind - you really need to try this in a store before you fork out the cash as it's expensive for what's a small bottle. Personally I found it pleasant and would definitely use it and, I think, I would look to buy a replacement once this bottle runs out. I would certainly be minded to try Miller Harris's other perfumes.

Now how to translate this wicked new eau de parfum? Literally it means "black box" or "black case" with allusions to Italian disco music of the 80s or more sinisterly the receptacle carried by Mr J the Ripper. However you choose to interpret the title there is a deep dark mystique to this androgynous spray that will unite and separate, depending on the shareability skills of the couples upon whose dressing table this generous bottle may appear.Seductive is the first word that comes to mind to describe the aroma, it darkens with wear (and warmth !!) Advertised thus :Etui Noir is as deep as the night. Like a well-worn leather jacket shared by lovers with comforting flashbacks of each other. The sweet and suede-like leather accord is supported by the woods and powder of iris, whilst fragrant and balsamic incense creates depth and intrigue through its smoky character. Flashes of bright light from vetiver, tangerine and bergamot represent the city, a highlight against an otherwise dark and dusky fragranceI could not have put it better myself; this is a real treat, a parfum that lingers in the room and in the memory.I will leave the last word to the very smart box that Miller Harris has produced to market their product : "Like day and night. Unapologetically androgynous" go for it !!

Fragrances are an entirely subjective thing, so if I tell you that Etui Noir is amazing or awful, it probably doesn't mean too much. What I can tell you, which is somewhat less subjective, is that Etui Noir is a heavy fragrance, better suited to evenings and colder months. It's not fresh like a citrusy scent, so if that's your thing, this won't suit. It's clear that Etui Noir is made from quality ingredients as the scent is long-lasting and consistent. It doesn't fade away fast and its topnotes don't burn away leaving a less complex scent behind. This is no two dimensional scent - it has very definite levels from top- to basenotes. The scent is probably better suited to the more mature person; it doesn't smell "youthful".Etui Noir is a classy scent, in a classy bottle. Expensive? Perhaps, but you can share it with your other half, so it'll go down twice as fast :-)Etui Noir isn't a scent you will smell everyday, and it's likely to divide opinion. I'd advise you test it out on the High Street for yourself. If you like it, rest assured that it's money well spent because you are getting a proper Eau de Parfum - a very long lasting scent made from the highest ingredients.

This is a very well packaged and present Eau de Parfum. The chunky bottle and the black writing and floral outline are both in keeping with the androgynous theme. At first I was convinced that the scent was much more masculine than feminine but after I had been wearing it a little while I liked it more - a dark, musky smell suitable for evenings rather than daytime. The scent lingered for many hours and although it remained very pleasant but more subtle.I am not sure I would have chosen this perfume if I had not been offered it for review purposes but now I have tried it I feel I should be a little more adventurous in my choices.

This is powerful stuff. Would I use it through the day and at night yes I would. It's stays put and doesn't disappear three hours after spraying.I usually wear Viktar Rolfe, rather partial to a little Jimmy Choo and now I can honestly say I am a Millar Harris girl.I love it. I spray sparingly and particularly recommend for those who enjoy strong perfume with notes of Bergamont. I would I recommend yes I most certainly would, will I happily purchase for myself or friends and family yes I most certainly will.Looking forward to trying some of the other options when this bottle has been finished.

I had not heard of this fragrance but decided to go for it based on the blurb. I do tend to go for scents of a smokey, woody nature.I am not certain it is entirely unisex - I would have preferred an even deeper smokiness of the sort you find in men's fragrances and this went on a little lighter, citrusy and more floral than I was hoping for - Liz Earle no 15, for example, is marketed as a women's fragrance but I'd say it had deeper notes than this. However it is quite pleasant, not overly spring-floral or sweet. I did find it faded very fast, almost non-existent after just a couple of hours.

I'm a tad fussy when it comes to eau de parfums - normally I like Chanel, Calvin Klein or Issey Miyake - and having never heard of Miller Harris I was a bit wary of this unisex one. I love it though. It's rich and dusky-ish, but isn't overpowering and seems to last well. It's perfect for use in the evening. I can imagine either gender wearing it without any problems. Plus (if this kind of thing registers on your radar) it's a British product, designed by a London perfumer and made in England.I'm impressed with it. It will definitely be nudging aside Issey Miyake in my bathroom for a while.

Perfume is a bit like wine - people describe it with amazing adjectives which are totally subjective. There are just a few things I can reliably say about this:1. I like it, totally subjectively.2. I often find perfumes overpowering or lacking in subtlety. They seem to shout "this is perfume". This is different, more subtle.3. It lasts well. I was quite surprised that the person I gave it to put it on in the morning and it still smelled nice on the neck in the evening.4. It remind me of YSL Cinema, similar though not the same.

I recently tried another fragrance from Miller Harris and whilst I liked the smell I was very disappointed that it just didn't last. This one is far better, and lingers for most of the day.Quite expensive but very classy packaging, simple and sleek bottle that is fairly heavy. This is a unisex fragrance and has a definite smoky/musky feel to it, and probably more suited to evening use.I like it and have been complimented on the unusual fragrance.

Exhilarating yet comforting, Étui Noir is a scent of contrast. It is as deep as the night. Like a well-worn leather jacket shared by lovers with comforting flashbacks of each other. The sweet and suede-like leather accord is supported by the woods and powder of iris, whilst fragrant and balsamic incense creates depth and intrigue through its smoky character.

This is definitely one for the guys. This is definitely a masculine fragrance with it's leather and tobacco overtones.Second hit of this fragrance is mossy and green, with pepper and cardamom. The third layer of this smells of wet forest bark and musk. This is a very sexy fragrance indeed and one that you just can't wait to snuggle into.

Love the scent! Warm and slightly spicy, as a lot of the Miller Harris perfumes the longevity is poor. A shame, but I went for a full size bottle at a great price to be able to refresh often. Looking forward to the temperatures cooling to start using it.

I gave this to my housemate so that she could try it and review for me. She said that the smell was pleasant, rather fragrant and not offensive. It lasted for most of the day, and she received some compliments on it.

I like this Cologne very much! Robert Graham Courage Decanter has a nice mild long lasting scent! I would definitely purchase again!
