Although this isn’t my favorite perfume or type of scent that I initially go after, I gave it 5 stars because it’s rare to find a perfume that smells very good, unique, and is long lasting. I would definitely wear without a problem!! The biggest problem that I have with perfumes these days is that they can be expensive designer ones and not smell much at all right after spritzing on even if I try spraying it on my clothes for it to at least linger there. But not with this one! This is a safe bet and doesn’t get old and the interesting coffee notes are noticeable but not in an obnoxious way, but very subtle for those who know it’s in there!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I fell in love with the original when my mum was using it over 40 years ago now and I always knew that it was never going to be beaten. There was something Magical and Oriental about it that had heads turning, it was possibly a combination of the Cloves, Vanilla and Cinnamon and for 1977 that was just Amazing. As I said before I knew they were never going to beat it but they've come very close with a much Darker version. Black Opium was released in 2014 and to shake things up and create the darker version they've kept a lot of the original fragrance like Vanilla, Patchoulli, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley but they've swapped out the Pepper and Mandarin Orange for Pink Pepper and Orange Blossom.

Im not a fan of perfumes because im hella picky and never seem to like a perfume enough to spend this amount of money on it. Also i get bored of fragrances really easily. However I absolutely absolutely absolutely love this and also feel like it just matches my personality like no other- not too feminine but not too masculine either. Elegant, bold, confident, sweet, shy, fun and loud all in one. BUTTT, i noticed the fragrance doesnt last a long time:( im a student so i could only afford the 50ml bottle (which, no doubt, i believe was a totallllyyy worthy investment) but the fact that i need to apply it again and again to make it last just makes me a bit sad about it.

This perfume is definitely appealable to all women. It is a strong scented fragrance that has a sweet vanilla type of smell with a dark twist of seduction. The vanilla scent brings out the innocence humour that women carry and portray but at the same time it brings out a woman’s playful and possibly dark side of their character. Its floral scent with a hint of white musk leaves you feeling refreshed and happy and in my opinion is prefect for day wear. The more frequently you spray the stronger the scent becomes and you get indulged with the dark coffee and adrenaline smell that will make any woman feel empowered and in control.

Received a sample of this with another purchase. At first, I was not keen at all - I found it very, very sweet and I'm not a big fan of overly sweet things.However, as I know even sweet fragrances tend to go sour on me, I gave it about half an hour and it really improved.Boyfriend is a particular fan of it.He say she likes it as much as my usual fragrance, which is one of the few I find works on me.He's not a fan of coffee, but said he couldn't smell the coffee in this; so, don't let that put you off, if you feel the same way.I could definitely smell the vanilla and the oriental notes, however.I'm giving it 4, rather than 5 stars, only because, although I like it, it smells slightly artificial to me for some reason,

This has been my favourite perfume for the last couple of years. As on the attached picture, I already have a replacement for my old bottle, which is almost used up. The fragrance is strong, deep, warm and multi-dimentional. It is extremely long-lasting and one doesn't need to use much of the product for a satisfying result. I have been stopped on the street by strangers asking about this particular perfume. I have never been a fan of the original heady Opium scent, but Black Opium is completely different and I adore it! I would associate this perfume not only with warmth, but also with confidence, grown-up femininity and energy. The notes of vanilla are very comforting,

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sample arrived really quickly after i requested it, so wasn't kept waiting too long. The smell is divine, and really deeply-strong-lasting, which is a tell tale sign of it belonging to an experienced and well known perfume-house. You cant deny the quality.i only wish the sample could have lasted longer. The postal packaging is good, with the spray held supported in cardboard advertisement and it was easy to spray on but having no lid, or way to shut tightly, as expected vapour of the eau de toilette seem to diffuse /evaporate themselves out if the ampule. So boohoo, what was a drop left for another use later, upon return has vanished,

I received a sample of this for my daughter who is very fussy when it comes to fragrance; different one for week days, another for week day evenings, a weekend fragrance for the day, another for the evening even one for when she’s at the gym or doing other sports. Hannah was overjoyed to find that exact scent which encapsulated every occasion in Black Opium to the point where within an hour of trying the sample, she went into Cardiff to buy a bottle. The fragrance is fresh, classy, romantic, fun and complex with a hint of romanticism to suit all occasions.YSL have released a future classic fragrance which has set the standard for a bottled parfam for every occasion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This smells lovely and unique on me; lots of pepper, vanilla, and patchouli with that hint of coffee. It has good sillage (projects but inoffensively) and longevity too. However! I've noticed Black Opium changes so much based on your individual body chemistry, more so than many other perfumes I've tried. On my mother, it smells just like super sweet berries with a hint of something bitter. It's not bad by any means, but it's not what it smells like in the bottle or on me. It smelled much more generic on her. That's why I'm rating this as Neutral; it's really important to test this one out beforehand to know what you can expect.

I bought this for my wife and she is very pleased with it. This perfume, like its original Opium cousin is a heavier scent, an autumn / winter perfume rather than a light, heady summer product. As an Eau de Parfum it lingers well.It's not an action replay of the original Opium perfume: it's totally different. The description says it has a coffee scent but I think it has undertones of chocolate and caramel, if anything.It is packaged in the new Opium-family bottle. It needs quite a forceful tug to get the lid off for the first time. The spray action works well.If you are after a sensuous and lingering perfume, this fits the bill very well. Recommended.

I received the same sample size last month and I also had a tester of it from my local drug store. It smells amazing like I mean you can wear it for work, going to the shops, going out or even just for chilling. It has this destinic smell and it’s amazing! You will smell great for days! I have seen me only needing to spray it on me once and then it can last for a few days after that one spray! I love black opium especially for the amazing bottle and the Fabulous smell that comes with it! I recommend it to everyone and even tell my friends and fam that it’s the only perfume I want for a gift! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
