The good- Has powerful magnetic connection for easy alignment- Powered by standard lightning connector- Good viewing angleThe bad- Lightening cable not included- Charges slowly- ExpensiveThe Logitech base looks and feels like a premium iPad stand. It is nicely weighted and the aluminium finish gives it a high quality look. The rubber bottom does a decent job of preventing slippage on shiny surfaces and the viewing angle for typing or watching media I find very good. The magnetic connection is reasonably strong and ensures the iPad isn’t knocked out of position easily. It also works really well at docking the iPad perfectly in position every time with little effort. The charging aspect of the stand, although very slow I do find useful. It takes roughly 7 hours to charge my iPad Pro 9.7” from 5%-100%. Longer if I am watching sports/movies at the time. This isn’t too much of an issue for me as I don’t use this stand solely for charging, more for keeping the battery topped up while watching movies or listening to music. However, it may be an issue for those who want to use it as their main charging base for their iPad. It also saves having a charging cable protruding from the end of the iPad, which I often find gets in the way.The stand is powered by a standard lightening cable, which is handy as everybody with an iPad should already own one. However, you do not get one supplied in the box. Considering the price of the stand, this is very disappointing. If like myself the charging cable that came with the iPad already has a permanent home (downstairs where it gets most use) and you are buying this stand to use somewhere else, like an office or bed side table, you will have to supply your own Lightening cable. In my experience the stand is compatible with most cases as long as the smart connector is exposed. With the exception of Apple’s smart keyboard, which also uses the smart connector and has to be removed before using the stand. As for the competition, as far as i am aware it is the only iPad stand to utilise the smart connector. Wether this is enough to justify the heavy price tag depends on what you want form your iPad stand. If you don’t mind a lighter, plastic option and charging your iPad the traditional way (with the cable plugged in to the bottom) there are a lot of other stands on offer that are a lot cheaper. However, if you use your iPad a lot for streaming movies for example, the magnetic connection, charging and lack of a cable hanging from the iPad are useful features in my experience. I picked up my Logitech base in a lightening deal at amazon (£55 down from £77) which is what eventually swayed it for me. At the time of writing the Logitech base was priced at £89.99 from the Logitech website and £59 at amazon, which will still be a little steep for those who just need a basic iPad stand.Overall I feel the Logitech base is a good companion for my iPad Pro and gets a lot of daily usage. It performs as it should and looks good doing so. However, I feel it is let down by the price and the lack of a charging cable that should really be included in the box for a charging device.

An update three years in, this is still in daily use, has generally fared well, very occasionally fails to charge iPad but works 99% of the time, has been worth it-------------Excellent iPad Pro charging stand, mostly positive, could only think of two minor disadvantages. First the positives:- Good finish (up to Apple quality, not that it really matters much as it is hidden by the iPad when in use!);- Solid / robust / not flimsy (no problems holding an iPad securely, and can use the iPad whilst in the stand);- Appears to be well made (not a lot to it really, the power charging contacts look really tiny but I have had no issues so far);- Easy to use (it is easy to position the iPad on stand such that it charges,it jumps into the right position by magnets, and very easy to lift the iPad up from the stand);- Charges every time (one week in and no issues at all);- The great advantage of using this (compared to using a floppy folding keyboard as a stand) is that this stand directly powers/charges the Pad, it saves having to plug a tiny Apple Lightning power lead in and out every time I want to lift up the iPad, and this is more robust - this stand is so much less fiddly to use.Only two disadvantages really:- Only works if iPad is in landscape orientation, with the home button to the right hand side, not in portrait orientation, but that is a limitation of the iPad charging connector being on the long edge of the iPad, and not a limitation of the stand;- A bit pricey for what is "just a stand" delivered in a typical white Applesque over-engineered "box", but to be honest this is true of a lot of Apple accessories!

Took a chance because nobody seemed to know if this would work with this iPad while it was in a protector, which covered front and back (not Apple cover which only protects the front). Well yes it does. All you do is flip the front cover over the back (which exposes the 3 magnetic connectors on the long edge of the iPad and hey presto, it tugs into place with strong magnets and sits on the base and charges until you need it. The back can be left hanging or if pointed backwards towards the case, it will magnetically hold in place (see photo's). When 100% full, it automatically stops charging. You can use the iPad while it is charging on the stand. The stand connects at the back with the USB cable which was provided with your iPad that you already use for charging, you just plug into the stand rather than the iPad. Also has very sticky rubber underside, which stops it sliding about and doesn’t damage furniture - I suspect like other items, when it becomes less sticky, you wash bottom (very carefully) with little water. So happy.

Never thought I would be as impressed with a dock as I am with this one for several reasons. I plan to but more to have one in each room, as even though this one 'lives' in the living room, it am constantly carrying it around with me - its just so useful! Magnetic connection makes putting the iPad on super easy, and tilting the iPad forward slightly makes it easy to remove it (there is a bit of a trick involved). The base is slightly sticky so keeps the base held onto any smooth surface, only issue with this is wood - the base will move easily as the base can't grip properly. The charging is slightly slower than through the lightning connector however, otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

It is a great product . I have iPad Pro 10.5 . Unfortunately the charging port is broken. Apple asked £325 for repairs. Thanks this connector , I can charge the iPad without any problem . It charges very fast . During the charging , you can use the landscape position because of the iPad’s connector buttons location. Once it charged , you can use in portrait position . The magnetic is very strong and stable . Highly recommended. Thanks to Amazon and Logitech .

I was a little nervous purchasing due to the variable experiences of others, but I am so pleased I bought this and have not experienced any of the issues that have been reported by others. Its a compact sturdy design and ultimately a space saving convenient dock / charge solution. It would be handy if it folded up somehow, as I could take it about and about with me if it did. Im so pleased that Im considering buying another one.

this is fantastic and such a classy product to match with my other Apple items. it charges well and i have never had any issues with it. i have had this for a few months now and although a little expensive it looks lovely as i have my iPad on my kitchen bench all the time. i have paired this with an apple pencil that has a sleeve on it with a magnet as files well as a lovely good looking set on display.

Well, this is just fab. For those with a smart connector on their iPad, this just locks into place like magic thanks to the magnetic connection. It charges via the iPad lead plugging into the stand and you are fee to dock and un-dock at will. No need to hold the stand when removing like some people have said, simply lift it up one side first and away you go!

Really good product can't believe it's not more popular benefit is very easy to pick up and put down in the stand, on your desk, and it's keeping it charged all the time no messing about with untidy leads and the risk of damaging the port. I feel the convenience justifies the price whilst currently no similar alternative.

This stand is attractive and robust. I use it for my iPad Air 3. It’s perfect if you can no longer charge your iPad from the Lightning port as long as it has a Smart Connector. It’s stunning and practical.

This charger dock has worked as good as a lightning cable using a 12w Apple adapter with an iPad Pro 9.7 but is still on the expensive side so 4 stars for its charging speed -1 star for price.

Great charger for my iPad Pro 9.7. Holds the iPad well and at what I find a comfortable angle while watching movies etc

Really good product but unfortunately not compatible with the third generation iPad.
