There's not too much to say about this product other than it works flawlessly - something I've never had with a hub before! I use it with my Macbook Pro both at home and at DJ gigs, and I've not encountered any problems, even with 2 MIDI controllers, mouse, keyboard, 2 hard drives and my iPhone connected. Not done any scientific tests but my USB 2 hard drive appears to operate at full speed even with all that plugged in.No disconnections, no drop-outs, behaves perfectly when unplugged/plugged back in and when the laptop goes to sleep and wakes up.Pretty slick packaging - compact, but feels robust. Not sure what the point of the LEDs is as they are always on whether anything is conncted or not,but not a problem! AC adapter is included in the box (and is definitely needed if you are going to be plugging several devices in).If you're after a reliable, compact, reasonably priced USB hub, I can't recommend this one highly enough.

Well, I bought this after I had bought a USB hub that had broken after about half-an-hour, and due to the fact that it is a 7-Port hub, I hoped that it would be powerful and would be able to handle many peripherals, as I so wished. The hub does not simply run off the power of the computer, either. It comes with its own power cable, which could be a bad thing if you are pushed for power outlet availability, but in another way is very good, ensuring that it is well powered, thus running many peripherals.I would say that this USB 2.0 Hub is near perfect; it would have been nicer if the ports were spaced apart slightly more generously, but that is a minor issue and apart from that I feel quite justified to give this item a 5-star rating. So,if you are wanting a powerful, 7-port hub, then I would strongly recommend that you purchase this one. Thanks for reading - I hope that you have found it helpful!

This is a difficult review to write, because having had the unit for some time, its shortcomings mar what could be a great product. The unit is very light in weight, which means that if you have enough cables connected to the USB outlets, the cables drag it off the desk. It's a shame that there are neither fixing brackets moulded into the body, nor a separate bracket that gives the user the option of screwing it to the desk.Furthermore, I bought it to replace an unpowered USB hub because that would not run my Lexar external card reader, but the D-Link won't run this either; nor will it run my Aver Media TV unit, which somewhat diminishes its utility. However, it does run my printers, is compact, runs very cool, and so far , I haven't suffered from the fragility that others have reported.I'm sorry that this review rather sits on the fence, but I hope others will find it useful.

I've had this for a few weeks now and have used it at home and at work for my audio interface and authorisation dongle. I am giving it five stars because it simply works with my MacBook and so is always recognised, always recognises devices plugged into it.As I expected, it will not power my external hard drives and I can only guess that it would if I plugged the D-Link into the mains using its included power supply. The thing I'm most excited about - although I think this is more to do with Parallels software than the D-Link - is that, when running both Windows in a Parallels virtual machine as well as OS X, the D-Link can talk to both operating systems. So I can have my old USB trigger to MIDI interface talking to Windows and my new audio interface talking to OS X. Parallels Desktop rules! The D-Link is small and light for taking out and about and seems durable.

Another reviewer has stated that this device only powers 2 of the 7 ports, and indeed this seems to be what it says on the box.Not so, however - if you delve into the manual, you'll find that when connected to your PC or Mac or whatever, the device powers all 7 ports up to 500mA each, the standard for USB. BUT, if you disconnect the hub from the PC/Mac/whatever and leave the hub powered on, ports 6 and 7 will provide up to 1.2A each for charging your mobile devices. This charges up my iPod REALLY quickly and is a great feature. So please don't let someone else's misunderstanding put you off, this is a smashing little hub.Not a problem for me, but the ports are stacked quite close together,so you may not be able to use all 7 if you have more than 1 "bulky" item plugged in.

With an ever increasing number of USB stuff to connect, I needed to upgrade my hub. I've used several other 4 port USB hubs from a range of manufactures in the past and they have all gone in the cupboard since I connected up the D-Link. This is not just because I needed more connections! I had always had trouble with my external hard drives (who hasn't) and sometimes the computer would not see them after coming out of hibernate or stand-by and you had to pull out the USB lead and reconnect (always risky) just to get the computer to 'see' them again. But since D-Link, I've not had this problem. Also other USB stuff has connected reliably. If there is a gripe, it is with the green light on every port,I don't really need this as the computer tells me if the device is connected!

My computer has 2 USB hubs fitted on the front of the machine and over the years they seen considerable use to the point when one of the retaining clips holding the sockets in place fractured and my USB connectors vanished into the internals of my computer. Stripping the machine down to retrieve it became obvious that I needed a different solution and spotted the D-Link hub. Plug and play meant is connected it into a spare USB socket at the rear of my machine and blu-tacked the hub to the top. Plugging in the mains adaptor means that the 2 right hand sockets can provide power to my i-touch and other similar items. Having 7 USB sockets is great and means I no longer run out sockets when I need them most.Highly recommended.

It looks so much chunkier in the photo, it's no bigger than a pack of twenty (remember those?). It's now cable-tied to the support on the back of my iMac, and everything is to hand. The ultimate plug 'n play, I just spent half a day re-routing all my power and usb cabling, eventually plugging all the kit in... 3 iPods and a portable HDD needing power as well as two other hard drives. Switched everything on and it all just worked... excellent! Funny thing, my Time Machine drive took ages to prepare itself the first time after installation, but all okay after that, go figure? Thanks the rest of you for the reviews, all this positive feedback meant I was happy to spend the extra few pounds.

The item I received was the small, black Version B1.It has two ports marked with a battery symbol. According to the manual these ports will provide 1.2A each for battery charging when the PC is switched off or disconnected from the port. When the PC is switched on all ports have 500mA capacity. The LED on top indicates which mode it is in.There are no diagnostics LEDs on the ports as advertised. Not too much a loss.So far so good. It has my camera and phone connected and has been doing file transfers with each. Also a mouse, a sound card and a colourimiter. All are recognised. It's not particularly heavy, but seems to grip the table well enough.

I am using it to power my Cubie2 (and rpi soon), and also my nexus 4. There is two ports for fast charging that are very convenient, the others will not charge your smart phone if requiring more power than typical USB standard (0.5amp).You can also plug in the hub to your computer so you can connect more devices, even though it is more convenient to power devices that have USB connections like mobiles and similar.Just in case, it works has an acceptable price (could be cheaper but do not risk with low quality usb hubs) and I hope good quality.Recommended for anyone requiring an USB hub.

This product arrived earlier than I had been informed and worked straight out of the box on my laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have plugged two external hard drives (one Western Digital, one Buffalo), a 16GB flash drive, a card reader and an external mouse into this hub all at once without a single problem. Yes, it does have its own power supply, but it ran fine on the same extension lead as my laptop, and it may not be the cheapest hub on the market, but if you are looking for an expansion of your USB ports then this is certainly the product to go for. Highly recommended.

Required a 7 port usb hub. Looked at many alternatives and their reviews and this Dlink DUB-H7 came out on top. Bought it and have been very pleased with no issues. My desk suddenly has some unexpected order. One point to note, I use a plantronics headset for VOIP calls which I have moved onto a separate computer USB socket (not on the DLink hub). This is so that there is both so that there no contention and any that any USB 1.1 devices that I may plug into the hub do not bring the hub automatically down to the lower 1.1 level specification (which would impact the headset).

Arrived in the time stated, nice product, well packaged. Comes with 2m USB lead. Seems sturdy but lightweight. Has nice rubber feet on the bottom, and lights for each usb port on the front. No issues, plug and play worked immediately. Maintains the same transfer rates as when devices plugged straight into laptop (MacBook Pro), even with many devices plugged in. Would recommend. More expensive than other versions available, but I think worth the extra money for the reliability and build quality, having had trouble with cheaper units in the past.

I got this as I had moved from an Imac to a Macbook Pro and suddenly only had two USB ports. I plug this in to one of them and then in to this go a Wireless gamepad receiver, a sound card, midi interface, 2 X eternal HD's and a graphics tablet. This provides ample power to everything, I actually wish I'd got this sooner as I often had things dropping out on the old Imac due to limited power going through the bus. I recommend this to anyone who finds themselves (as I did) needing not just more USB slots but also more power.dp

The D-Link Hub is a great addition to my laptop, which while having 4 usb ports of its own is nowhere near sufficient for the multitude of things I have connected to my computer, including a printer and 2 external hard drives. The hub works brilliantly, and is no different from connecting a device through the computer's own usb port. I can play blu-ray movies through this from an external hard drive with little to no lag, and I suspect my own laptop is the reason for any lag. It's fairly small and keeps my desk pretty tidy!
