I bought this to replace an older D-link router that was showing it's age, and bought it especially for the N band to match a new laptop. The setup is easy to be honest: I didn't even bother with the CD malarky that is included because I find they usually cause more hassle than they save. To get it working you just plug in the relevant cables and go the setup page in your web browser (just type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar). From there you just log in using the default password in the manual and run the setup wizard which just takes a few minutes. Simple. The only issue I had was that it couldn't connect to the internet at first, but I quickly figured this out: I had to use the same MAC code as my old router I was replacing. This is most likely a problem with my cable internet and not the router though, but if you use Virgin Media cable it's something to remember. This item is full of features, comes with all of the accessories you could need and is generally pretty great. It's also great value for a wireless N router, so the faster speeds and longer ranges don't have to be as expensive as you think. The only improvement I can think of for this is including the faster Gigabit ethernet connection, but that always seems to bump the price up significantly and that defies the point of a good-value home router. As a minor gripe it's also a little big (~19.5 x 12 cm), which can be annoying if you keep it under your desk at your feet. It's a good choice for a home cable-based network.Read full review...

I've bought this router to expand my network.I recently installed a ADSL Internet connection, and I had a default wireless 1-port modem-router, which was pretty lame because I have a Desktop PC and a Laptop and since I borrowed (more like gave xD) my old wireless router to my granddad I needed a new, fast, and up-to-date router.I was looking for 3 things:1st - Wireless-N capacity; I don't have any N supportable devices but I knew the router would be faster and have better range with standard b/g devices and the key is to innovate, because you never know when are you buying a better laptop or something.2nd - Cheaper Option; I had a limited budget of like 25€ to spend, and you should always establish a roof for your expanses, even if you have a lot more to spend, but you should spend some time searching and sometimes waiting a week can mean saving 20€ on a 45€ item and buying a superior quality and state item for a better price.3rd - Best Performance; I think D-Link as already established a name for themselves and up-to 150 or 300mbps on Wireless transmissions says something, and also the possibility to connect all your game consoles to this device sounds pretty neat.^^I'm very, very satisfied with this product, if I could I would buy 2 more, for the same price. xDRecommended 5/5Easy Access, Configuration and Costumization.Great Signal on 1 storied house. With the latest firmware installed, you will be able to turn off the router's wireless signal altogether at certain times of the day, to save energy. The DIR-615 Wireless N Home Router connects to any modem or ISP box to provide Internet access for computers and other network equipment. Wireless N technology offers more speed, extended coverage and virtually no dead spots while still compatible with previous network standards. This router transfers data at speeds of up to 300 Mbps. Setting the router up is easy even for non-technically minded people, with D-Link Click'n Connect: run directly from the product CD-ROM, this wizard takes you through an interactive step-by-step guide that will get you on-line in a matter of minutes. It also includes a simplified method of setting up wireless encryption, the WiFi Wireless Protect Setup (WPS), which works at the touch of a button. A powerful dual firewall (SPI and NAT) prevents Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and attempts to breach your network from the Internet. You can also define a list of allowed sites to restrict web access during certain periods.Read full review...

I bought this router with the express purpose of setting up my own high speed firewall. The router is compatible with the dd-wrt software for customising a router and making your own access point with full security already configures (except passwords). The router is nice neat and small size (even though the version i got was actually smaller than the picture). As it is N speed it is supposed to do up to 150mb/s but i am getting nothing like this!Anyway for the purpose i bought it, cant fault it it took a bit of fidling to erase and reinstall the custom software but its working fine since then. I like its size, its low power consumption and the fact it can be played with software wise. This is one of a few that is easy to work with, the original configuration looked ok but didnt meet my needs..out it goes.As for the ebay aspect, i found this on here with literally hundreds of others on offer, which is good, got a great deal at least 60% less than i would have paid in the shops. arrived on time and the seller was great.Read full review...

I bought this router after i saw it from one of my friends.Considering it's price(about 10quid plus shipping),it is really really GREAT.It has 32mb of ram a 4mb rom and a near 400mhz 2009 processor. It also supports N network. But what's most important is that it supports custom firmware!Such as dd-wrt which is great. You simply can't find another router with those kind of features for the price. You basically have a huuuuge amount of options after installing ddwrt and still preserve the n capability. On top of that you have a lot of resources to play with the 32mb ram and 400mhz processor will not let you down while doing even the most resource heavy task in the ddwrt firmware.Compared to a LinksysWRT54G/S/L you get basically the same feautures for a much lower price and better hardware overall. So don't wait and get yourselves a great little router that can sustain your networking without any sudden stops or reboots for as long as it's powered on!Read full review...

I just could not believe how easy it was to set this little Beauty up to work with my Huawei Modem which comes with TalkTalk Broadband. Some of these combined Modem/Routers are a Nightmare to set up which brings me to mention about my old Cable & Wireless Router where i had to make numerous calls to India to get it up & running but with this D-Link DiR-615 i only had to put the CD Rom in the drive & follow the on screen messages.I set mine up on my Windows Vista Laptop in the space of 10 mins then i tried to connect wirelessly to my Apple Mac Mini then my main Desktop computer which is running Linux Natty Narwhal & basically everything works perfect.I really can not say anything Negative aboutit especially as i only paid £13.50 GBP with the Postage all in.

I replaced my G router with an N router to avail the higher speed. The router has a piano black gloss finish and 4 out ports and an input port. The unit is supplied with 5v Mains 3 pin plug transformer. You install the CD then connect the router and it all works like it should. The software lets you choose security settings, registers the device online with D-Link. I installed to Vista and XP and both installed well. The wireless network feature works and seems to have a good transmission distance, mine is in a room at the front of my house and I can get a signal in the back garden. I am very satisfied with the D-Link Router.

Our apartment walls are really thick and our "G" router would not even pick up in the next room. The D-link DIR-615 was our best choice because it is uses "N" protocol and we could connect it directly on to our existing router and then simply install it on one of our computers using the CD that it shipped with. It was really easy to configure, just set up a new SSID and password and off you go! The range is incredible through the whole place, we have Three computers all playing games and streaming at the same time with no lag at all. Great value and does the job really well.

very good device, it's reliable and fast enough to build your own small office or home network. WiFi speed is about of 20 Mbps in my case, but can vary depending on settings. There are not major drawbacks. One of them - there are a lot of revisions of this model with different hardware, so you should know if it'll fit your country providers. There are a lot of alternative software for D-Link routers, but for some revisions it's not a truth. All in all I like it!

I had a cool experiences with it.Just arrived to home when I was in a huge trouble.I was backing-up the data that I had in my laptop connected to my PC through RJ45 cable(cat5). But the transfer rate was way too slow and the time that I had was very little. Thanks for the D-Link DIR-615 I transferred 100GB data withing 2 hours. It is great.. Thanks a lot ..

It's great for adding DD-WRT - works like a dream. I've used mine for a wireless bridge to connect a Vodafone Sure signal (wired only) to a wireless (only) network at work. Has never fallen over, just works! Better than my Netgear 3300, which needs constant resetting, and it is only acting as "n" router.

I needed a Modem/Router not just a Router, so had to buy a D-Link DSL-2740B instead, which is the ADSL equivalent to this DIR-615 I would think. Going on that's performance I would recommend D-Lnk Routers & Modems, but only gave a 4 (Good) rating as I never used the DIR-615 (no phoneline lead socket).

8.6.2011

Installed DD-WRT on this router so I could get many advanced features without the extra cost. I now use it as a wireless bridge to connect some devices in my house up to my wifi. THe signal is okay however not the best. It could be better if it included gigabit Ethernet instead of just 100mbit.

9.5.2011

These provide decent range, a simple web interface, 150mbps throughput, a small footprint and are cheaply priced. Although they are not massively configurable, there is a useful function that you can turn off routing and use the unit as a access point alongside an existing router.
