First, the big difference between a £500 and £800 is quite a jump in the quality of construction and also the quality of components. This laptop has an aluminium lid, the screen is also a higher quality IPS unit which is much clearer to see and better colours. The keyboard is superb, great travel and well spaced. It fires up quickly and you are using it after a few seconds start. It took about five minutes to set up and it is not ladened with loads of bloatware either. In terms of battery life, it'll be good for about 3 hours is my reckoning, there is a lot of grunt to power.I went for a Ryzen 5, it's quicker than the i5 alternative too and has graphics acceleration which I need for the CAD work I do.
