*edit mine is the 15.6 touch screen version so you're all aware, it defaulted to display the 11 inch one*I was very apprehensive getting a Chromebook. I wanted to get one mainly to take to university. I've been using this for over a year now and I have to say it's excellent. I'll list my pros and cons below:Pros:- Lightweight- No annoying fan noise, because it doesn't have them- 2x USB C ports along with an SD card slot, a normal SD card that you'd put in your mobile phone will fit into this for extra storage- Super fast- Still works like new and it's been over a year- So easy to use and backlit keyboard at this price was a bargain- Touch screen as well as the flipping the screen to make it a tablet- Island style keyboard, which again, a good find at this price- You can use Microsoft Office on this for students out there, you can use both the online and downloaded version which you'll be able to get access via Play Store with, and it is just the same as the WIndows Version for me, although I still do use my main Desktop PC for major tasks as this laptop is only used when I'm away from my PC and for when I stream any shows/moviesCons:- The screen doesn't do very great when exposed to too much natural light, so a sunny spot in the garden or anywhere outside will not be great, if you're in shade, you'll be fine- There are no USB 3.0 ports, so you'd need to get an adaptor like I did if that's an issue, it costs a few pounds to get on Amazon so it wasn't much of a big deal for me.- Chrome OS takes a bit of getting used to however, it took me a couple of weeks.- If you're interested in playing games on this, I wouldn't. Although you have access to the Play Store it's mainly for productivity and is mainly browser based. All in all, this little thing hasn't given me any issues or cause for concern, it looks fantastic, the screen is great (just doesn't do well exposed to natural light/sunlight) and I've said many times but, for the price you're paying, it's well worth it.I hope this helps, rate up if it has helped you out :)

It took me a while to get used to a Chromebook. it operates a bit like a cross between an android tablet and a pc. Its 11 hour battery life means that it is normally on but can be switched on and booted up faster than a smartphone. The device runs a standard Chrome Web browser and most android apps (but not all) and where there is an alternative ChromeOS app available (which operate within the Chrome browser) it is usually better to use that instead. It also took me a while to get to grips with the Web based storage supplemented by the small 32Gb internal storage and an additional 64Gb micro SD card.I now use it regularly for Web browsing, social media, emails, and messaging in preference to my PC and phone. It is also perfectly adequate for watching YouTube, Netflix and live and catchup TV.The low powered processor has some limitations, I am not a gamer but I do a lot of photo editing and while Photoshop is out of the question, there are other simpler editor packages which work well and I have settled on "Polarr" which has a good range of tools and adjustments even in the free non-premium version. The light weight and long battery life make the device a good travelling companion. The screen is relatively low resolution and has a rather narrow optimum viewing angle but brightness reflections are OK. It also does not have a touch screen which I miss a lot less than I thought I would. This is the area where I would most like to see an improvement. If screen resolution and quality is high on your priorities you may prefer to settle for a 10" tablet or pay considerably more for a higher specified Chromebook. At under £200 you can't have everything.

This is my first chromebook - and I am very pleased with it. The Chrome system works very well. Potential buyers should be sure they know what a chromebook is and how it differs from a windows computer. With the newer chromebooks, such as this one, you have access to the Chrome webstore - and so there are in fact many apps you can install - including microsoft office. You can also access the google playstore - but be aware that the apps there are designed primarily for android phones/tablets. For example, I use the Zoom meetings platform a lot - and initially downloaded the app from the playstore and was puzzled why it was a cut down version of zoom - eventually realising I needed the zoom web application from the Chrome webstore instead - it then worked perfectly.Chromebooks are not designed to have large offline storage space, but are intended mainly for cloud storage - you get a large amount free. This machine has 32 GB storage, which is reasonable for a chromebook - and in addition you can install a memory card. So far I have made two skype calls on this chromebook, both of which worked well and were of much better quality than on my windows desktop computer. The sound is extremely clear. Like all chromebooks, it starts very quickly. All in all, it is a lovely chromebook - extremely light, good looking, and works well. The screen is adequate, and the brightness can be adjusted. There is a standard looking USB slot, a memory card slot, and two of the newer smaller USB 3.1 ports, one of which is also used as the power socket, and I believe these can be used via an adaptor to connect an HDMI lead, and also a headphones socket.

Came quickly. I love, but am slightly scared by being able to log into my life on Google with one login. It's like it's always been my laptop. The battery life is amazing, I think I've charged it twice in five days. I'm a writing student and I needed a fast computer that's light with good battery life. This ticks all my boxes.Update: For some reason, the WIFI keeps turning off and not recognising my home network. This happened, I did a factory reset and the problem sorted itself out. Then it happened again and I called tech support who did help but the problem randomly righted itself again! Now it's happened a third time and I'm sending it for repair. The tech guy told me there may be a problem with the inner hardware, which seems right. Not happy, I bought this specifically for my Creative Writing degree, can't write much on it at the moment... Will update again.Update followup: Chromebook sent for repair and was returned, still not working! Amazon replaced with a new Chromebook without question (my return window expired while it was off for repair - great customer service) and this new one is perfect. For how long, I don't know. I hope it's fine from now on. I hope that these shenanigans were isolated.Update final followup: The new computer is great, no problems at all (fingers crossed). No disconnecting from the internet - that did seem to be the only problem. Clearly I received a faulty model. Amazon were fantastic and replaced it without argument. I'm happy. I'm glad it got sorted before the pandemic got really bad...

An excellent all-round laptop, that's great if you plan on doing, casual web browsing, taking notes, or plan on working on the move.Pros:- Lightweight- The plastic body is high quality- Charges very quickly and can hold the charge for a good day or two even if being used continuously- Easy to use- Quick to start up- If already on when opening the laptop it starts instantly- Can handle having many google tabs open and word documents without affecting responsiveness- Bluetooth connectivity ( eg in case you want to run your music to a speaker)- Quite intuitive- Sleek and stylishCons:- If you coming over from another operating system (from windows/mac/linux)it can be a bit tricky at first and you may have to google how to do certain things on it as gestures and key commands aren't explained- The battery indicator can be inaccurate, IE the time it estimates the battery can last for can be inaccurate, but keeping an eye on the battery percentage will let you know as this is accurate- Chrome Os can be limiting at times (especially with the app store)- Desktop short cuts don't seem to be a thing, there a good menu system howeverIt should be noted the laptop is designed for or lightweight work or research papers, and can handle man open tabs, word docs and Spotify simultaneously; and do so on the move. But if you're looking for something to game on, use research specific programs, CAD etc you'll want something with more ram, a more powerful processor and a graphics card.

Never had a Chromebook before but I needed something to replace a Windows laptop that died and didn't want to spend too much. I don't need it for heavy usage, mainly just browsing and the odd letter, spreadsheet and so on.I'm actually delighted I bought this. I probably would have had to spend another £200 for a Windows Laptop. It does everything I need, was easy to set up, the battery life is brilliant, it's lightening quick switching on and off.If you buy one you will be very much linked to Google. You'll need a Google account and email address. You can log on as a guest without one, but you would miss most of the functionality.Chromebook gives you access through playstore to millions of apps to do just about anything. The only real downside for me is that, as might be expected, Microsoft products for the most part don't work too well on Chromebook. The Word and Excel apps are quite clunky and pretty much require you to relearn how to use them. Some of the functionality you might be used to, just isn't available. There is no Access app at all. So if you really need to use Microsoft Office, I would say don't buy a Chromebook. The keyboard isn't back-lit and the screen could be a bit brighter, but in the evenings I use a nearby lamp to overcome this.In conclusion, if you need a laptop for fairly lightweight activity then this one is great. It really depends on what you want to use it for.

I really like this Chromebook. I took the jump and replaced an old windows laptop with this Chromebook. And I'm glad I did now. It loads everything super fast and does everything I need it to do, no problem. Unlike a windows machine this doesn't need to be loaded (and bogged down) by loads of anti-spyware and anti-virus software. Compared to a windows laptop it doesn't need fans so it's thinner, slicker and the battery lasts longer and charges faster. And, because you can use apps from the playstore a lot of the software if free / cheap. I think this is probably the way forward for home computing as, let's face it, everything is and will go to cloud storage eventually. Which means machines will get lighter, faster and not need huge storage drives, fans, etc. The touchscreen is great and I'd advice anyone looking for a Chromebook to go for a touchscreen version. As the machine uses google apps (some of which were originally designed to run on android phones) a touchscreen is a definite advantage. Sure - if you're looking for a laptop to run graphic intensive games, or do video editing, anything that is really graphic intensive then this probably isn't the machine you're looking for. But, if like me, you're looking for something to do standard stuff with - surf the net, watch netflix, listen to music, write documents and emails, etc, etc. Then this is a really good option.

I bought this Chromebook when Amazon had its prime days. For the the money its a little gem.Out of the box it feels like a premium product. It was very easy to setup my account to be up and running in no time.I could have gone for the same model but with the bigger screen size but the 11.6" screen is perfect for portability and usability. I personally feel the volume of the Chromebook could have been a little bit louder but it isn't a massive issue as I use my headphones. The only thing i feel that lets the Chromebook down is some of the apps from the Google Play Store. Some work perfectly but others I had issues with. I suppose the apps in the Play Store are designed for the mobile platforms. When I tried to use the Amazon Prime or Netflix apps they would struggle to run or perhaps even crash. I would recommend anyone wanting to use these service is to perhaps access them through the chrome web browser. They do work a lot better. For this reason I gave the Chromebook 4 stars. The keyboard is a delight to use and the battery life is brilliant. The 11.6" non glare screen is fantastic to use outdoors even when the sun is shining down. The screen is clear and the colours are vibrant. If anyone is looking to take a leap into the Chromebook world. I would recommend this one. It certainly doesn't break the bank either!

Why I went for this is two-fold: 1 - I wanted a stand-alone word processor without Microsoft rubbish on it! 2 - I'm a big ASUS ("Azoos") fan.Getting set-up was not that easy, coming from Windows. Initial set-up quite easy, just connect up to and sign into your Google Account. Job done. However, I wanted some privacy, without Internet, Clouds or anything else poking its unwanted nose in. This was achieved by setting up the inbuilt Linux OS (Partition). That's done from the main Menu, so not that difficult. The next bit was! You are left with a Blank screen with a blinking Input cursor, but no instructions on "What to do next"! To find that out i had to (a) search the Internet, fruitlessly. Then (b) join two Chromebook pages on Facebook and ask questions: my main one being "How do I set up an OpenOffice on Linux?"Eventually a knowing gentleman came back to me with the instruction to type in the correct line to download and install a WP/Office programme. Al in all, quite frustrating that there is such a lack of useful instructions or guides with this machine! Hence 4 Stars. Now running nicely on its own, no Windows, No Google, no interruptions. Yay! I can now take it with me, sit in any quiet place (Internet not required) and write my books as the inspiration takes me.

The small size and weight attracted me as a laptop to take travelling and it does the job very well. It comes with its own fast charger but will also charge (more slowly) from any USB C phone charger, saving more weight and space. My daily laptop is a Macbook so I set it up to be as similar to that as possible and was pleased at how familiar it felt. Ok, it is slower and the screen is only viewable from straight ahead but for the price I'm willing to live with those limitations. Something I didn't consider is it's lack of a backlit keyboard, which I did miss, but the cheap, small, light, fast, crisp screen Chromebook with a backlit keyboard doesn't exist and I'm not willing to pay for a PixelbookGo.

Great device for the price. I use it everyday from simple browser tasks to managing websites. There’s a handy built in option to add a Linux distro alongside chrome OS which works within the Chromes OS, so no need swap in and out of operating systems. Installing the Linux distro is simple and allows you to use software that otherwise wouldn’t be available on Chrome OS, like FileZilla, VS Code, GIMP, Krita, Blender and ton of others. The screen is a bit poor at certain angles but just adjust the screen angle and you’re sorted. If you’re doing anything too heavy the 4gb may struggle but overall a great option as a lightweight companion when you don’t want to use your main workstation.

Can't really fault this chrome book at all which I bought for my daughter for Christmas. It feels like a quality item, light enough for her to carry around and battery life is great but is also USB C so you can charge it from any charge point (although the charger that comes with it is a lot faster than a 2.1amp outlet!)Very impressed with the display and actually she's been able to play some games on it like Roblox without any issues which is far better that the old chrome book I have which would struggle with anything like that.I'm a huge fan of chromebooks for most day to day computing requirements so won't say much about that but overall great value and high quality laptop.

I bought this because I needed something lightweight to take away with me so I could continue working. It is lightweight but unfortunately, it doesn't do everything I need. Not all apps are available to download and although it says MS Word works, it doesn't, it is only the online version that doesn't have all the necessary features that I need. It works more like a tablet - with a keyboard. If you use google based products like google docs etc it'll work like a charm. Its battery is good and is easy to set up and use. It'll come in handy for travel, and for using Wavemaker, but otherwise, for me, I'm going to need a different laptop that allows for more flexibility of programs.

For a device with a keyboard and tracker pad it is very competitively priced. I take it with me when travelling, it fits in most room safes. On holiday my requirements are simple, mostly email and accessing the internet. I can also access my music and photos. It is easy to use and quick to respond. It has about 10 hours battery life which is enough to meet my needs for several days. My only complaint is that the charger is rather large and awkward. Whilst it doesn't have allthe capability of my macbook air it is much less expensive and more compact. It is less likely to be stolen and a much smaller financial hit if it is lost or damaged. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Excellent replacement for my netbook. I wanted something light and portable for web designing. Battery life is fantastac. I have no problems tearhering a hot spot with my mobile phone. Great if you want something to do internet based work on. It does have playstore built in to download apps. I have successfully managed to watch movies and tv shows online with no interuptions to the stream. The internal storage is not massive but you do have the options of mounting a memory card for extra storage. Great little product for me once i got used to having no caps lock key and using the shift and search keys to achieve this.
