Very impressed with this laptop for the price. I brought it to replace my old desktop that I only really used to browse the web, watch youtube/downloaded videos, and occasionally do some light gaming, and so far this laptop has absolutely crushed it in all these categories. Don't expect great game performance with this though. I've played a few hours of Civilization V on it with a good performance and frame rate, but bear in mind this is a pretty light game graphically and any modern games would be a bad experience on the laptop. The SSD in the device is very impressive too. From a cold boot, the device can be up and running with a web browser in under 10 seconds, that time made shorter by the fingerprint sensor hidden in the power button which helps skip logging in on the device by doing it for you when you press the button to power it on.The build quality of the laptop is comparable to much more expensive devices. The aluminium body feels sleek and premium, and the keyboard and trackpad are very well made. There are a few small niggles with the device though that do only slightly ruin the experience. Firstly is the webcam, which is hidden in a key in the function row (which I think is actually great because I almost never use it) which means that the camera angle isn't that great.Secondly is the heat. On battery while doing light tasks the temperature is great, normally around 40c, which means the fans only come on every so often, and usually on low so they don't make too much sound. When plugged in, or when doing heavier tasks though the heat can be a bit of a problem. When charging the top left of the body by the USB C port does get quite warm, and because of this the fan does stay on pretty much the whole time until it's unplugged. I also found that while doing the small amount of gaming I have on it that the CPU temperature does get quite high, spinking up 85c. This is well within the safe operating temperature of the CPU, but is a bit more than I would have liked. The final problem, and what I would consider the worst, is the screen. Out of the box the display isn't set up very well. It took me quite some time to get it to look as good as I could in the AMD control panel, but when compared to the external monitor I use with the laptop the display on the device is quite lacking. The colour accuracy on it is not the best, and does look quite washed out a not where near as vibrant. Thankfully this isn't very obvious when just using the screen by itself, but when compared to a better quality display the difference is night and day.All in all though this laptop is definitely an amazing bargain for the price. If you are looking for a laptop that can eat through day to day tasks, and can do some occasional heavy lifting, all while encased in a premium feeling package, then you can't go wrong with this.

This is a solid laptop. I’ve never had one where you can run so many programs and have so many windows open and it’s fine. It’s pretty, a deep grey almost purpley colour, and is a good weight. My issues are:- the matte screen gets dirty so easily. Touch it once and your fingerprint stays there until you clean it properly with micro fibre cloth.- the webcam angle is so ugly. I’ve had to order another webcam online. Honestly if you have professional meetings to attend I wouldn’t recommend this webcam/laptop. It’s very hard to angle the laptop in any way that improves this. BUT I love being able to hide the webcam/pop it down into the keyboard, that’s wonderful.- the trackpad sticks sometimes.I’m not sure why, it’s only for a few seconds- the battery life is quite poor. I can only use it for up to around 3-4 hours streaming or just surfing the web/writing on full brightness. The power cable is also quite short, half the size of a normal Dell one.BUT it is lovely looking and isn’t full of nonsense programs or bloat ware that nobody needs. The screen is very good quality and the sound isn’t bad at all. I actually do love this laptop and I’m excited to put some stickers on it ASAP. I love the thin bezels, the keyboard is responsive although it could have taken up more space on the laptop and the keys could be a bit bigger.I’m happy that I can have 10 word docs, Spotify, 20 chrome tabs, the kindle app, a YouTube video etc all open at the same time!!! Miraculous and is changing the way I do uni work. Thanks Huawei

I have read through most of the reviews about this laptop an on the whole, agree with the very positive points raised. The prize for the silliest review however, goes to the complainer about the power adapter being too small for UK sockets! Presumably, the writer has discovered that the 3rd 'Earth' prong is its collapsed state upon arrival and you just need to pull it upwards into shape!Apart from that, I have no qualms with this machine - it's light, fast and easy to operate. As one reviewer has stated, there is a distinct lack of bloatware on board and plenty of space on the SSD (I bought the 512GB version). When used with other 'lightweight' programs installed - e.g.Office Suite Pro (has an android version as well), the performance of this laptop is more than adequate for everyday use. It's not a gaming machine, so those interested in such things won't be buying it. However, it knocks my Acer aspire i5 into a cocked hat! So much so, that it seems very slow in comparison.I don't use the webcam as I have other devices for video chat etc. Not worried about about the lack of touch screen and have taken on board some of the technical tips from the more savvy reviews. My only 'niggle' was the price - somewhat ameliorated by Amazon's spread payment scheme.Overall, from current experience, all future device purchases will be with SSD drives - there's just no comparison! In the meantime, a pic of the power adapter correctly set up for UK sockets.

This is my first Huawei laptop (or "MateBook") and I purchased it because the design and style appealed to me as well as the generally good reviews. Overall I am pretty happy with what I have received and so far discovered. Its not perfect (and no laptop is) but for the price you can let a few things slide. For your reference (and to save you having to read another looooong review), I have summarized the good and the bad below.~THE GOOD~High build quality for the priceAttractive designBuilt-In fingerprint readerGood hardware (processor with integrated graphics, high quality SSD)Physically small charger that won't cost a fortune to replaceHigh screen quality and brightness.Above average batterylifeValue for money~THE BAD~Smaller keyboard than normalNo nub-pad on keyboardLarge touchpad (very easy to accidently "click" while typing)Stupid placement for the webcam (and an unflattering angle)Hard drive partitioned strangelyScreen does not go back as far as I would have liked. For the current market price - I would recommend this. It is better than the standard £500ish laptops that are flooding the market and can hold its own on somewhat more expensive models. If you want a good laptop that can handle most tasks then this Huawei is worth considering (I believe you would have to spend a lot more to get better). Just hope I get used to the small keyboard :(

Not had a laptop before & old pc getting vveeerryy slow - also installed windows7 not going to receive any more updates. Been on the lookout for a suitable replacement for a while that would fit the bill (compact, light, good build, ips screen, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd & backlit keyboard). Missed Huawei UK's brilliant intro offer & then saw this on Amazonuk with the option to spread the cost - yay, just the job, as I really couldn't afford to spend a very large amount of money in one go! Seems a lovely laptop & just what I was looking for with good write-ups online & may reviews etc. Still finding my way around how it works & getting used to a track pad & windows10!Only a couple of things I didn't like was the partitioned C & D hard-drive - what's the point of that?! Had to look online & YouTube to see how to combine the memory, (which was surprisingly easy & I quite shocked myself at being able to do it with my, very, scant techy ability!). Also why no sd card reader? Easy to buy a plug-in, I know, but why should you have to on a £600 computer - plenty room around the edges for it & possibly even another usb port?! Just nit-picking really as this is, overall, a smashing laptop at a great price compared to some others, & I'm very pleased I decided to purchase it - a highly recommended purchase that I look forward to using for a long time to come!

After much researching for a 14 inch laptop I settled on this Huawei D14. I have had many laptops over the years and this model by Huawei is excellent for the money, the battery life is good and lasts me all day with moderate use, surfing the web, YouTube videos, producing Word and Excel documents; even some moderate use of Adobe Lightroom and Photshop. The processing power for my use is more than adequate for my needs and would be good for the majority of productivity users. The screen is adequate, but not outstanding, with only 250 nits of brightness which is low for use in the bright sunshine we have been enjoying during lockdown, but more than good enough at around 50% brightness indoors and preserving battery life.Excellent aluminium casing that clearly resembles the MacBooks out there, a decent trackpad that is responsive and large enough; I tend to pair a Bluetooth mouse with it though for my use and the Logitech MX Anywhere 2 connects with no issues. Plenty of extra ports for most users, although I add a small dongle for extra connectivity when required.Overall, if you are looking for a sub £600 small laptop, you will not be dissatisfied with this model.

Good specs for the price you pay. This handles everyday tasks very well, and will allow for more more demanding work like light video editing or light gaming if that's your thing. It also runs very quietly for regular use.The D15 is quite large as expected for the screen size but not overly bulky. The screen bezel is nice and small.Good build quality - it feels robust but doesn't feel as luxury/premium as more expensive laptops.A couple of areas which could use improvement:- Screen brightness isn't the best, but fine for most situations.- Similarly, the battery time is average.- Keyboard (and touchpad) feels a bit cheap but this is a minor issue.- I'm not sure about the position of the webcam as it's placed in the top of the keyboard so has an upward angle.Oh,and don't worry about the charger. Contrary to Susan's review, it is UK compatible, you just have to push the plug insert up! See photo.Overall, it's excellent value for money. As long as you don't expect it to be the quality of a £1000 machine you likely won't be disappointed!

This laptop is perfect in every way. I have been using it for about a week and it has no fault so far. It's fast, the screen is not glaring, never had a system problem so far. I was a bit disappointed when I got it out of the box and I realised the screen was not as large as I expected, but I forgot about it as soon as I started to use it. The sound is good and I like the softness of the sound it generates, the screen is not glaring, I could stare at it for hours, it reminds me of kindle at how comfortable it is for the eye. The battery lasts about 2 hours fully charged, using youtube on it and other sites open, only be careful to use only it's charger for charge, other chargers won't work.I am very happy with my purchase and certainly recommend, good value for money.

I like everything about this laptop apart from the touchpad. Laptop is very responsive, loads quickly, lovely clear screen and looks bigger than it is due to edge screen. I am so disappointed with the touchpad, it sometimes just sticks when moving mouse or mouse pointer disappears. If working on a doc or spreadsheet , internet page and you touch slightly to hard or long when also scrolling the zoom or minimise viewing size happens. This is really irritating if you don't have external mouse with you. I have looked for updated drivers as I work in IT and know what I'm doing.I bought this as I also use Huawei p30 pro phone and the link setup between them is very useful and works really well.Thiswould have been a 5 but for the touchpad.

This computer does not have a touch screen. Not sure why it's asking about that?Anyway! It's been a few weeks using this laptop during COVID lockdown and what a beauty she is.I don't game, I just use a laptop for email, shopping, studying and researching things, but to name a few and this laptop is brilliant for that. The casing is BEAUTIFUL. It's so thin and sleek I don't want to touch it most of the time hahahaThe keyboard is nice and has a nice feel to it. It's not at all mushy in my opinion. The track pad is smooth and works super well. The camera (that's cleverly hidden under a key) is pretty crappy, but I ain't no model so nobody cares if it's in 4k HD.overall, super impressed with th quality.

My Mate book arrived by Royal Mail special delivery within the expected time frame. Initial experience has been very positive and it is much more powerful than the old Toshiba it replaced. The styling is similar to a Macbook air. As other reviewers have mentioned the camera is unusually positioned in a flip-up key which may be an issue if you plan extensive video conferencing. The audio appears good. The full HD display may not be as bright as some but I have found it perfectly adequate. It took a while for me to get used to the multi touch pad but I have not felt the need to plug in a mouse. Overall I am pleased with the purchase and consider it good value. Hope it keeps running well.

This laptop works great, and is really nice to look at. I'm using Linux on it an all the devices are working well. The CPU is fast enough for any common task. I'm using it as secondary device, and travel laptop. For these tasks, the laptop is perfect and the case is sturdy enough to handle being moved around quite a bit.The backlit keyboard is a very nice feature when using the laptop in low light conditions. The camera sinks into the keyboard when not in use, so a shutter lid is not necessary when the camera is not in use. Very neat feature. The only downside is that the fans are a little bit louder than I would have liked. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the laptop.

OK Only had this for this like 3 Days but so Far So Good, Amazing Build Quality & Great Pop Up Camera . The Finger Print Switch on is Really Handy And it Boots Up Amazingly Fast. Im a Big Fan of SSD Laptops Anyway so this 512gb version is Ample enough for me. The Laptop Keys Feel Great to Type on and the Video Quality is Really Good. Mine should of been delivered with a on the go power charger but alas it didn't come in the box. A Call to Amazon Customer service resolved this for me so no worries there. Like I Say HUAWEI Products Never Fail too Please Me. So for the Price this Item wont Either … Its a Fast Great Laptop and for the Price And Build Quality worth the Money.

In other parts of the world the 15D comes with. 1TB HDD as well as the 250gb ssd. It's not that hard to add one but does need a specific cable. This is a well specced machine, nice metal chassis, the screen for me is fine ( I'm not a fan of shiny screens on laptops)The start up is very fast and the finger print scanner excellent. If you want a laptop for a combination of work and play this is good bang for buck.Edit. Just fitted a second hard drive with a sata flex lead and sata to flex hard drive adapter. Search your favourite auction site. So now have a 1tb data ssd as well as the 250gb one for the os. It took me 10 mins with a torx T5 screw driver and the kit

A well built machine and priced accurately. You can see the similarities in the design between this laptop and the MacBook. Seems to perform well and is a big improvement on my previous laptop. Only downside I have found in the first few days of use is how hot the computer gets when being charged. Possibly due to the 65w fast charging, either way you wouldn’t want this resting on your lap when charging. The battery specs as well seem to be a bit optimistic, I would get around 4-5 hours of moderate use with this including some Spotify streaming.Despite these few points I would buy again. There will always be some minor issues unless you go for a £1k + machine
