Kudos to Absolute Music Solution for sending it to me so very quickly. I ordered on Sunday evening and it arrived on Tuesday! Excellent work guys! The product. Overall I am pleased with it. It's clear and detailed almost like hi fi in fact (I mean proper hi fi not in the way manufacturers use the term loosely to mean almost any product that produces sound). It is made well and looks the part in the flesh. Understated and functional. Now I have only used this at home a few times and out at a small gig once so bear that in mind when you read my review. It goes plenty loud. Louder than you would think and it does not feel strained. It takes some doing to get it to max out and I will have to wait til I get to a hall to enable that to happen. You may have noticed I have give four stars and here is why. No output sockets. Yes I did know this before I bought it so it is a little mean of me but for the life of me I cannot fathom why they do not have something to enable you to send the signal elsewhere. For instance you might be a singer with a guitar wanting to capture your performance for uploading purposes or suchlike. You had better bring your mixer.....if you have one. It's a bit Apple like. "Hey let's get rid of the cd drive and the headphone socket and the USB socket oh and hobble the Bluetooth......right on that is so groovy now!" LD an output is needed please put one on the Maui 5 mk2. The only part of the sound I am not keen on is the bass. It's ok. In fact seeing as I do jazzy stuff it's less of a problem for me but it is quite boomy and boingy. By boingy I mean there is quite a overhang and smear to the sound. It's indistinct and loses control so it is difficult to follow what is going on. It reminds me of when I had some JBL control ones. Everything in the bass sounded like a pair of congas/bongos were present in the mix. If you know your hertz there is to my ear a lot of muddle going on around 90hz-125hz. It takes the edge of an otherwise excellent sound. I know there are no effects but like others have observed with systems of this type it is a glaring omission that means you have to bring another box along with you. Every box you have to bring when you are doing a lot of gigs becomes a huge pain in the butt and does not endear you to the manufacturers at all. The only system that does have a decent complement is the JBL Eon One. If it wasn't for the size/weight I would have bought that. It weights 18kg though. I can manage 18kgs.......but I don't want to! 7 or 8kg more wears thin after a bit. The Maui 5 weighs around 11kgs you see. Yes I know the Eon has a bag with wheels but there goes another £80 when you buy it. Its all about compromises. The Maui 5 at the price seems to have some of the most acceptable and the price is very reasonable compared to the Bose L1 Compact. Oh and that lack of feedback claim. I got mine to feedback very easily by waving a mic in front of it at high volume. There is a guy doing this on Youtube in a review and it doesn't feedback. Who knows what level he had it at really. The overall sound may have been tweaked up to sound fine for the video. Whatever. It does feedback so be warned. I abused my hearing with that test and I do not want to do it again. My mic is a KAM KWM1900 - HH. I have others and will try them all. The KAM KWM1900 - HH does not feeback really easy in general if you are wondering. I did the test with no effects or equalisation just so you know. FEEDBACK!Kam KWM1900 HH Handheld Wireless Microphone - COMPLETELY Cable-freeOne last thing. For some reason LD have seen fit to limit the range of the mic channel. Please don't fiddle with everything guys. Some of us are professionals and can choose the right mic for the job. They have shelved the frequencies below 100hz. Now this REALLY matters to me. Being a bass baritone there is a lot of energy in my voice below this frequency. Having these frequencies shaved off misses out a lot of the unique quality of my voice. Luckily I have a Boss Ve1 which has a 3.5mm line out. I can plug this into the line in and get a full signal. I have just tried it and it works beautifully. Again LD and other makers out there please resist the temptation to fiddle with every nook and cranny as these well meaning choices can very easily be a deal breaker for guys like us. If you really want to align with the herd then label it for Karaoke and sell it accordingly. Us geeky professionals generally know what we are doing and why! Rant over.Overall I am very pleased that the makers design such products for us. They are definitely game changers overall. Please note as well that the sub can be excited into buzzing/rattling with program material with a low bass content (hip hop, reggae).Seriously condsider this system. You will most probably love it!One thing I forgot to mention. The bluetooth works really well. I have had a moan here on Amazon about various bluetooth devices I have bought. They all have their faults and are not generally thought through well for professional use (one or two claim to be 'Pro' but that is not the case). The bluetooth on this is perfect for a pro and shows real thought. There are no beeps or buzzes or voices to tell you "Bluetooth is connected" or anything like that. You press a button wait a few seconds for the bluetooth to flash and then you connect to the Maui with no fuss or bother. It stays connected and does so over a reasonable distance. At last!! I have a pair of Alto Troupers which connect ok but they hiccough and are not to be trusted in general. So a great job from LD. All other manufacturers take note. Beeps buzzes, blips, rattles and voices ad nauseum are NOT NEEDED (unless done specifically for the blind I guess).

I've had this product for a couple of years and it's brilliant. It's mainly for use by an acoustic duo: voice, clarinet and guitar, so we need two DIs with separate volume controls. For that reason I've hardly ever used the on board mixer. For most gigs we use a little battery-powered ART Pro-mix three channel mixer which is very simple and compact and straps to the mic stand, plus an ART 2-channel passive DI box. Any instrument EQ needed is done by effects pedals, SM58 mic seems nice and true through theMauiBy having no mains power except for the main PA we have a very compact fast setup. The PA is really small and fits in the tiny luggage space of my tiny Toyota Aygo.We can carry the PA and instruments into the venue from the car in one trip and set up ready to go in ten minutes. The sound is great, sometimes needs the bass level turned down a bit and it's a bit tricky if the unit is too close behind you as the performers don't get a true sound that close, I think the compact column sound sorts itself out about 3 metres from the speaker. But it gives a very good quality natural sound and brilliant monitoring which gives me great confidence as a singer, I can really relax and hear the nuances in my own voice which is often a huge problem with the second-rate or non-existent foldback on many systems you are landed with.In fact we do several small indoor festival type events where the house PA is really poor and the guy in charge of it not really on the job so we just carry on our own PA. With all the electronics strapped to the Mic stand it's easy to be set up in advance, just a single cable from the mixer to the PA.I have used it for a 5-person acoustic folk group with 8 channels, mostly microphones, and while I might prefer a bigger PA for that, in a small venue with up to 50 people it was fine.We have also played at a very noisy late night festival stage in the back yard of a pub with 150 or more, mostly drunk, people jammed in to the space. The previous band had a big PA with drums and electric instruments including amplified bagpipes so it was challenging to say the least. We had no idea what to expect but we cranked the Maui up to full volume and were amazed. It wasn't the hushed attention we prefer :) but, despite the big rowdy crowd, a friend right at the back of the space said he could hear us perfectly. Finally I recently did PA for a folk concert in a big hall that seats 350, we had around 250 people. I borrowed a single Maui 28 unit for the main PA (that worked amazingly well) and the Maui 5 was used as a stage monitor, at the side of the very big stage. It worked really well and although I was using a separate pre-fade mix for the montor it was great to have similar units for main and monitor so I did't have to worry about the on-stage sound matching the hall sound. I've recently picked up a used Maui 11 PA for bigger gigs on the basis of that experience. Finally the portability is amazing. The bags are essential although they do add to the cost, but the bag for the columns is very clever, having 4 pockets for the 3 column sections. The exra pocket is for cables but I have cut down a Samson MK10 Microphone stand ( a good compact boom stand much smaller than usual but big enough for most singers) so it fits in that pocket. Everything else (microphone, cables, mains extension, DI box, mixer and effects pedal) all tuck in there with a bit of care so I have a complete PA system in two bags.So this is a brilliant, ultra compact, good value high quality system for acoustic performers. Take time to learn how to get the best out of it, use it with good quality microphones etc and you'll not be disappointed. At the price there's nothing to beat it.

Bought this as a second unit to link to an identical one for use in larger venues. I'm a solo singer entertaining audiences of anything from 50 to 250 people. One unit is capable of reaching say 80'ish people and the two units working in stereo together will reach about 150 - 200 people providing the room isn't too massive. I use backing tracks and vocals effects with EQ through a mixer desk straight to the Maui 5's. The sound quality takes a little bit of getting right for each venue but once set-up properly the sound quality is very good. I no longer require a monitor as I don't experience feedback. The sound is very even over a long distance. It's lightweight and therefore very portable.All-round excellent product.

So light - buy the bags and you can carry it easily. Bluetooth is reliable and handy - great for parties. Perfect for small pubs with acoustic bands wanting a smooth sound that fills awkward spaces. No need for foldback as can site it behind the band without too much worry of feedback. Works great in rehearsal as an acoustic bass amp - loads of bottom end! Use without the spacer in a small space for a more focused sound. Works really well as invisiable sound reinforcement in awkward church spaces.

This is a fantastic PA system with a great sound output and crystal clear sound. Well worth the money. This is the 2nd one wenhave purchased as we are running the two through a mixer desk for larger performances. The company we bought from gave excellent customer service. Very quick to reply to emails and send out the product and when I called them they were quick to answer the phone and very helpful. Would highly recommend both product and seller

I use this for acoustic gigs and its fantastic. I use a Bose L1 for bigger, electric gigs and thought about the L1 Compact for smaller gigs. Saved £400 buying this and its just as good. I use it with a mixing desk so can't comment on the onboard controls. Sound carries well, as you would expect. Will try one day with full rig and write a review.

Amazing bass to this unit and the bluetooth gives it the edge over higher priced rivals. Too loud for the home but as a pa system it does the job. The sound filled the room of the last dj set i did with a room capacity of 200.I was originally looking at the bose array system but after reading the reviews of this unit im glad i went this way

13.1.2017

I have been in music for 40 years and have owned many PA SystemsThis I bought for small house parties and informal gatheringsThe quality just blew me away especially for the price and sizeWether or not it would serve purpose in a larger venue I cannot. Comment but it serves me well with what I do

19.1.2017

Cheaper than L1 Compact. Sounds just as good. Not knocking Bose, I use an L1 II for bigger gigs. Buy the bag for sub bass stand, just use a holdall for the extension poles.
