This item has been purchased for the local WI branch, to meet the need for an easy-to-use, portable PA system for use by visiting speakers, for larger meetings, and so on.It comes with two handheld VHF radio microphones, on frequencies 174.1 and MHz and 175MHz (see below). The mics are plastic bodied, with a metal mesh covered foam windshield. They have a two position switch, OFF-MUTE-ON, and despite being low cost items they work well and are easy to use. They are very directional and need to be 'aimed' at the presenter's mouth; the upside of this is that they are not prone to feedback howl even when the presenter is in front of the PA.Radio mics are usually used with a separate receiver that is plugged into the mixer/amplifier.The QR12PA has the receiver built in, with controls on the back of the unit. The receiver has its own power switch and separate volume controls for each mic in use. (the main unit volume control does not govern the volume from the radio mic channels) . The built in receiver handles two mics, on 174.1/175.0 MHz, so any additional VHF mics you plan to use with this unit need to be on one of these frequencies. I have also bought a pair of QTX 'neckband' VHF mics (order one of each frequency if you want them, items 178.851 and 178.852) and they work fine. There are 2 separate 1/4" jack inputs for a lead microphone, or a guitar for example. There are also 3.5mm and phono inputs for other sources (such as a phone or MP3 player for music) and the built in MP3 player has a USB and a SC card slot. There is also a pair of phono output sockets for the whole mix. There is an echo function that will operate on the radio mic inputs, and presumably on the lead mic inputs if used. There is also a VCV switch, which will partially mute any music being played when speaking into a mic. This does NOT operate on the radio mic source. The manual, which covers the QR12PA and the QR15PA, refers to an FM tuner - the QR12PA does not appear to have one.The unit contains its own battery, which was at least partly charged on arrival, and it worked right out of the box before being plugged in. There is a detachable 'kettle' lead for the mains. There is no obvious way to change the battery, and no reference in the instructions which counsel the user not to open the unit. I believe it is a lead-acid battery that could probably be replaced by a competent person if necessary, and I'm pretty sure that one reviewer mentioned having done that. For what it's worth, my experience of larger lead-acid batteries in boats, caravans etc. is that they last a long time if they are not repeatedly run flat, or left flat, so whilst the battery is claimed to give up to 8 hours operation, I would suggest using it for no more than 3 or 4 without recharging if you want it to last well. This is a fairly heavy item (the spec says it's14Kg,) if you need to lift it on to a stand or even in and out of a car - fit people should have no problem, but it could be awkward for a frailer/weaker person. Just moving it around is helped by the extending handle and wheels. There is a moulded 35mm socket on the base. I'd recommend getting it off the floor, even if it is just put on a side table - it sounds much better.Regarding the sound, it is not hifi, but it is capable of decent volume and with the aid of the tone controls sounds perfectly acceptable and loud enough for a small hall, though not of course for a disco as you could probably still hear yourself speak....Reliability I can't yet speak for, as I have just set up and tested the items, but so far, so good and I am happy with the choice.

This is a very useful PA for use in a small space. There are inputs for USB memory or SD cards. Inputting either automatically access the files and there is even a little remote to make selecting files easier. One down side is that if you remove the USB or SD the unit the FM radio kicks in and can be very loud. The RCA phono / jack input makes it easy to run sound from a laptop or MP3 player. There are two microphone inputs are controlled through a single volume knob. You can also add echo which makes this PA an ideal small karaoke machine A guitar or electronic keyboard can be plugged in to one of the microphone ports if required. The Wireless VHF microphone works adequately and would be OK foroccasional use but would not be robust enough for regular usage.Volume and sound quality are good in a small venue. There are more powerful models for larger spaces but the price goes up accordingly. The whole package is excellent value and it does most of what you want in the one box. It is really not very heavy at all and the wheels and retractable handle are a good touch.

I use this for PA at our Cadet Camps and competitions. It is battery powered which last all day with moderate use and the speaker is load enough to cover quite a large area of open space. The supplied radio mikes are good but you need to get right up to the mike to speak, but they have a range away from the speaker of around 15-20m.At night you can connect an MP3 or ipod and it becomes a music centre. You can connect an external 12v battery to the speaker to extend power time - or simply plug into the mains if you are near a power source. There are a good number of connection options if you want line in ect, btu I don't use this so cannot comment. The system is light and easy to transport - it comes on wheels or has a side carrying handle.I bought a cover for it (specific to the model) which is handy to keep it clean.Overal I am happy with this - it does what I want it to and I am happy with the battery life and connectivity to other devices.

From the reviews I was expecting a good device, but am blown away by this PA! Very very impressed, sound quality is fine for what we want - which was simply a portable PA for a club - mainly for meetings as our chairman is very quietly spoken and could not be heard peoperly - he can now! Also a little music sometimes and the built-in MP3 player is just right fr this too. Everything works and it is easy to move and set up. The control panel is perhaps a bit difficult to see and use, but it is well tucked away in it's recess where it is unlikely to get damaged during transport. We have not yet used it long enough to run the battery right down but have found it will play background level music outdoors for at least 6 hours continuously.Top marks.

Purchased this item for a function suite were I D.j .The manager wanted to use my disco system and radio mic for the wedding speeches.Which to be honest i didn`t fancy doing.I looked around for a suitable stand alone idiot proof system and came up with the QTX QR 12PA SYSTEM .Wow what can you say it is the best value for money system i have ever bought. The Radio mics work perfect and the music sound is quite good i put a load on a usb stick for background music and it works a treat. Together with the battery powered option this is an ideal system .

Used this for a retirement party in a fairly large basement of a pub. It’s obviously not the most high fidelity of systems but it was fine for that type of event and went a lot louder than I was expecting. Not used on battery power yet. Considering I got quoted over £200 to have a small PA system delivered for just one night this was a bloody bargain and I get to use it again.

These guys are awesome, they sent me my order without delay as i had a slight urgency with this. It got to me in one business day - amazing...Product is great, bit hissy on the microphones, trying to record on the output makes it a bit challenging, but once you get it bang on you don't need to change it anymore.Great stuff! Couldn't be happier.

Although heavy to transport, the PA system works perfectly. We have used it for speakers to address audiences and the reaction from listeners is extremely good, particularly those who use hearing aids. The reproduced sound quality is excellent and very much appreciated. A perfect purchase.

Oh my god, first of all I can't believe how quick Amazon delivered this, I ordered it on a Wednesday and had it by that Friday, now that's fast delivery from the UK! Now the amp itself packs some punch in sound, and country and western singing partner is so pleased with it. Thanks Amazon!

This is for use at one of our outdoor events once per year, it is really good build quality and has excellent sound. It was used for a dog show and also in a marquee for a talk - performed perfectly and battery lasted plenty.Great value for money

Bought for a roller disco and dance classes in a hall. The sound is powerful and purchasing a bluetooth transmitter was a great idea (from another reviewer). I haven't yet tested it's full capability, but so far very very happy with this speaker.

its got great volume, long battery, good clear sound for the price but you do get what you pay for. microphones are a bit on the cheap side and give the classic kareokee feel rather than a professional performance. Its very good for the price.

I was due to do some open air events with families in the local park, looked into using a standard P.A. System and buying a generator - then saw this battery powered amp. It's clean, better for the environment, and goes really loud.

we are a Pentecostal church and we use these items for doing street work .It is very portable and easy to set up and is ideal for what we use it for. it has far surpassed my expectations and would recommend it very highly.

2.7.2014

Does exactly what it claims to do -- excellent for outdoor use with more than 100 people. Wireless mics good -- pity there's no storage for them either on the system or on the case (which should really come as standard).
