I went in not expecting anything too spectacular, but this turned out to be the most wonderful, lovingly created and well thought-out game, rivalling the quality of the 2D LucasArts adventures of old. Production values are surprisingly good, with great character design and animation and very good 'piraty' voice acting and music.Jolly Roger features a well crafted pirate and voodoo themed storyline, and while acually quite serious in some parts it is mostly told in a light-hearted and humorous way. Comparisons with Monkey Island are easily made, but while it does borrow from this series, in the end both are inspired by the same pirate lore and Jolly Rover does hold it's own.Gameplay-wise Jolly Rover manages to always keep you interested in the main story, and pointed in the right direction so you never feel 'stuck' for too long. In case you are tough, the game offers a help system in the form of your parrot companion, who offers hints at the expense of crackers you collect along the way. Clever tweaks to the familiar point-and-click interface and concepts such as a rank and achievements reward your progress. The game isn't too long, but there are a few nice touches to somewhat extend the adventure. There are hidden coins and flag pieces that unlock bonus artwork, character bios and music tracks, and there is the option to re-play the game with a creator's commentary track enabled.Very highly recommended for any fan of classic adventure games!

this is a bit different from the usual HOS games i buy. Jolly Rover is "an awfully nice chap" and hard to find fault with. easy to follow game and plenty of hints from his sidekick parrot if you need them as long as you keep feeding him crackers!! this is definitely a game i will keep to play again. it had me laughing out loud sometimes with the antics. really good mood lifter.one for little kids and us big kids alike. all problems are relatively easy to solve. beware though when you have to go through the woods and place discs on the tree stumps. i got stuck until i realised that you have to place the discs over each other to solve the puzzle.after that it was easy.

Rather enjoyed this game although it was quite short and I feel that it is probably more suited to children. There is some repetition that gets kind of wearing, i.e. the music and the parrot, but overall it's a fun adventure.

Games which include seagoing Themes are always interesting and inovative -- this one is no exception and very enjoyable and humerous---third party is always best for me.

It's such a nice game! It reminds me of the adventures I used to play more than 10 years ago. I loved it!
