This is a big bit of kit for the money and it plays plenty loud enough - i have it connected up to a 5.1 Pioneer amp to beef up my Monitor Audio fronts rears and centre. It has a dedicated LFE input which avoids the internal crossover. So for movie effects its very good. Not so great for music - perhaps best to use the crossover input here. There is a bit of a "hum" which is not ground loop - it does this with nothing connected, and this is my main complaint really, but not so bad i'd thow it out.
