Bought this mic second hand on a whim for countryside bird sound recordings. Big improvement on iPhone's built in Mic for nuances of bird songs. Also picks up sound of iPhone being handled! Wind noise too can be a problem outdoors for me. Wind muffler essential. Basic one with mic not best for my needs.Not sure I would pay full price for a new one. (I'm not a sound expert)Note, if your iPhone case has a deep surround to the lightening socket, you might want to buy a cheap lightening plug extention - like I did!

Small and light but feels a bit flimsy.The lightning plug takes all the strain and is quite vulnerable. The sound quality seems ok so far but the headphone socket on the microphone distorts during recording but sounds ok on playback.
