This undeniably a very nice guitar for rock or jazz or blues or... Seems there are two versions of it 12-01 and 12-02. I do not know what the differences are since Ibanez doesn't say. My guess is the pups have altered slightly. The BQ is very good indeed with frets rounded, ebony fretboard, slim profile mahogany-maple neck, 12" radius, abalone inlays, extra three way switch for neck pup, etcThis is meant like many others to be a 'Gibson ES335' copy of some sort. There's a danger in this seemingly like another in that it gets judged against it. This can't be a good thing since the ES335 costs some £2000. But we can't delude ourselves into thinking we're getting a 335 equivalent for this price...Some, however, would have you believe so.I have an oldish Gibson Les Paul and this guitar is as good in build quality. The differences are the pickups. The Gibson has much more grunt and soul with its 57 Classic and Burstbucker. I have a GIbson Les Paul Studio with Burstbucker Pros and it's more 'there' than the Ibanez. However, listening to an Ibanez AS153 with the 57 Classic pups on YT, it changes completely...Obviously then there's a need to spend an extra £200 to get to the ES335 sound. You might too wanrt to replace the bridge and tailpiece - say £100. Only you can decide if that is worth it. Certainly a lot less than a ES335.Edit: I'd like to add that after a year + of use that I have managed to acclimatise to this guitar. First it has no kerfing but seems strong and durable regardless with its central maple block. The frets for the first string can catch due to the setback and smoothing of the frets- be careful. The sound with the supplied pups is really excellent through TC's MojoMojo via a Yamaha THR10C. That rocks!! Wow and some!! Same with a Blues Junior III. The pups are really very good on this 12-02 version. No name on the pups unlike the 12-01.
