Hive is by far the easiest of all the smart home systems to use. I can't get over it. We went with Hive over Nest for our thermostat because it was controllable in more of a traditional way, and when I began switching everything to smart home systems with Alexa, etc, I decided to get some hive bulbs. The app is brilliant and everything works first time which is not the case with some competitors. I like that it doesn't clutter the WiFi network as well. The hue white and white ambience bulbs themselves are fractionally better but are such a pain to connect that I would go with hive every time (although the hue colour bulbs are fantastic and with the hassle).

I have a combined Hive/Alexa/TP link integrated to build a SMART home.Had just completed a 12 x GU10 installation with Hive Dimmable units in downlighters sourced from Amazon.The original bulbs came from British Gas but a week later one of them failed and we had a photographer coming to do the pictures and video as the house was for sale.Getting one bulb was a problem but Amazon could get one to us quivkly!Outcome was a nice finish with 12 working bulbs.Why Hive? Simple - Standard LED bulbs grouped beyond 10 units need a special (expensive) dimmer. Hive GU10 bulbs have individual electronics so no restriction to 10 in series.

Replaced a corner spot light that was on its own circuit. Quickly paired using the hive phone app. Great addition to the thermostat and hot water hive system i’d Just installed. I can now use Alexa and my echo to switch the lamp on/off, dim it. This original lamp was mainly used for reading and was very bright when someone else was watching tv. I was thinking about replacing the switch with a dimmer switch. The use of the hive lamp means I have voice and app control at much the same cost. Would be a lot more expensive if there were more than one lamp in the circuit. In which case a smart light switch would be more appropriate, but this seems to mean buying a different hub.

Ok so where do I start.... I wanted my daughters bedroom to have Hive lights so I could make a routine where by the one over the nappy changing unit didnt come on thus she wasnt blinded when changing her nappy. Having read the reviews someone said just turn the dimmer to full power. I did this and setup all 4 bulbs. Great I thought but no they will not come on.So if you have a dimmer switch these will not work, tried them in kitchen on a normal switch and they work fine.So for now I'm using them in the hall wallWork great with Alexa and dim to a reasonable level too. Appear to be same depth as the standard GU10 too

This was purchased for a porch it has a standard gu10 fitment which means it's very easy DIY install. The hive system picked it up right away and I was using it within 2 mins of install. It appears to use nice warm coloured quality LEDs which do not flicker.The light has a great dimmer feature and I am able to control the light remotely. Great for security, as it has an away mode which mimics someone being home and randomise and on and off times between a preset time window.Only Con is the price, I wanted to change all my gu10 lights to these, however I would have to remortgage to do it.

Extremely bright, they are a little expensive but you can control them separately or in a group, set a timer if need be, they work with apple HomeKit, so definitely an all rounder…. Hive really is good…. Just please make sure you’ve got a hub otherwise they won’t connect. Might still turn on though you will have to check…. We now can goto the bathroom at night and no looking for the light switches as we’ve got the motion sensors too… great bit of kit

Great, once you know one thing! To set these up they need to be really close to your hive hub. I nearly gave up but moved things around and once they got within, literally, 5 feet it picked them up perfectly.The good news is once they are detected and added to your system their range is fine.The functionality and Hive app are really good. For example I have them in the porch and get them to come on at sunset automatically.

Added 2 of these in the downstairs cloakroom and paired them up to a Hive motion sensor and it all works fine. Having the ability to dim them slightly, as the room is small, is a bonus. I have configured them to work as a pair and the delay between the motion sensor detecting movement and the bulbs switching on is minimal. The bulbs were a bit tight going in to the holders.

Used light in a brass angle poise table top lamp stand. When fitted it joins the Hive network in seconds of its own accord, is controllable by both Alexa & Google. Have had over a year now & has proven excellent service. The one feature I do like is that it can be programmed, via Hive, to turn itself on at sunset which is useful. Would recommend as a whole.

I have a number of these bulbs around the house , I mainly use them as night lights as a look after a 97 year old , they work well in wc, stairs and kitchen, all timed for dark early mornings ,and used as dimmable lights main tv room....never used with alexa...I have had any other types of bulbs...If you have Hive system then highly recommended.. ..

These bulbs replace a standard GU10 and are as controllable as expected for a Hive bulb. Easy to create a group of these bulbs (I have 3) and control them as a single entity. Only downside was the fact that there was a price drop just after I bought the 3 of these - perfect timing! Recommended.

Have used many of these lights across the house - they are good and they work - although clearly it would be more cost effective if the light switch itself was Alexa operable as these bulbs are at a premium.In the current state however I would recommend them - easy to set up and group.

These bulbs are good and we have a large number of them - the Hive hub did not like me adding 10 new bikes at once so may be best to stagger fitting? Otherwise work well and good integration with Alexa. If you have a lot of bulbs to replace, it’s an expensive endeavour.

Have several hive bulbs already ,this new type enables me to add more in other house areas with different light fittings .easy to set up .Worth using actions on Hive to set up a group if using more than one bulb in a single light fixture .

Really easy to fit but a little tricky to set up the further you move away from the hub - can easily set up in a light nearer the hub and moved though.Also Alexxa intermittently 'forgets' the lights and cannot find them to turn on/off!
