This is a very pretty and well designed play set which my Daughter and her friends absolutely love playing with. We have bought a lot of Melissa & Doug products over the years and I love the thought and design that go into them.The Beauty Salon Play Set is big with chunky pieces for little hands and made mostly from wood. I have measured the set and it measures 39.5cm tall by 15cm deep by 30cm wide.The set includes a hairdryer, blusher brush, hair spray bottle, lipstick, eyeshadow palette and applicator, blusher, lotion bottle, two nail polishes, a hair brush, a hair comb, hair straighteners and a make-up chart.

As you would expect from Melissa & Doug this beauty salon play set is beautifully made and perfect for imaginative and creative play. Suitable for ages 3+ and my granddaughter who has just turned 4 absolutely loves it.This play set is made from good quality wood with a few elements of plastic such as the lipstick lid etc. It a decent size and measures 30.4cm (11.97" ) in height x 30.4cm (11.97" ) in width x 12.6cm (4.96" ) in depth. This is an absolutely gorgeous set from Melissa & Doug. My toddler has been playing with it for hours. I'm really into my make up and beauty and she copies me all the time. She was thrilled to receive her playset. The attention to detail is brilliant. The actual beauty station is rigid wood and the mirror (with safety mirror) is fixed in place. You can carry the whole thing around in your arms quite easily. The draw comes out but is fixed so no chance of contents falling out. The top has indentations for each of the beauty tools and pots to stash away the comb, brush, hairdryer and hair straighteners. I love the little details from the button on the hairdyer to the pump action on the bottle.

I got this for my 8-year-old daughter. She gave it five stars. She says about this play set:"I gave it 5-stars because it's actually like putting on your make up. For example the nail polish comes out, the cream opens, the spray pumps (in action at least, not with actual spray coming out), the hair dryer has a button just like on a real one, and on the makeup and the hairbrush you can actually brush your hair with it. With the eye shadow palette it has the real tool except it is made out of wood. It has the little palette so you can pretend. And the leaflet that goes in the drawer tells you what you can do, the options you have just like a real saloon. And the mirror you can see yourself in.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could! My four year old absolutely loves the beauty salon.The mirrors on the back wall are great quality and show a nice clear reflection that all ties in to the beauty salon theme. The attention to detail is fantastic - I love the sound effects from the spray nozzle on the perfume bottle and the button on the hair dryer. The plastic menu in the bottom drawer is a lovely touch and introduces extra ideas for role play. I also really like that most of the items have a space on the table so that all the bits go back at the end of the day. My four year old loves tidying it up and putting things away properly and it adds to her enjoyment of this toy.I don't think the plastic lid on the "cream" will last anywhere near as long as the rest of the set,

Such a nice wooden spa/dressing table set, made mostly from wood – but including some mixed-materials (including the safety mirror; the bristles on brushes; plastic lids on the atomiser and lotion tube; a plastic hinge allowing the straighteners to open and close). The set has storage places on the table top surface and in a wooden drawer underneath to accommodate all of the pieces. From a grown-up’s viewpoint, the built in storage makes this a very practical as well as appealing toy.The set has a lovely range of ‘girly’ equipment including pretend make up and applicators, a hairdryer, straighteners, a brush, comb, atomiser, and lotion tube. I must admit I am an Action Man fan, but for some reason, my friends’ 5-year-old daughter is not so keen. So, when I saw this Melissa & Doug Beauty Salon Play Set come up for review purposes, I thought of her. I guess this choice was a far better one. To say she loved it is an understatement! It is well-made and mostly out of some type of wood, although slightly over packaged, for my liking. That said, it arrived intact and in pristine condition.There is good attention to detail, and it is obvious some thought has gone into creating this playset. At first you might think "Why would we need four tiaras, my child only has one head", but you'd be wrong (about the number of tiaras, not the number of heads). This is in fact the perfect number. As well as avoiding arguments during play dates by having two of each style, there are also enough to kit out a small tea party of stuffed animals, or give daddy a make over.Our daughter was given them for her third birthday, and they are all intact and still regularly played with eighteen months later. We've also bought them as presents for other children who have also really enjoyed them. The two better designed tiaras are big enough for adults to wear comfortably (you will end up wearing one)

This salon set has a hair dryer, tongs, hair spray, brush comb, as well as make up, cotton bud, cream and loads more. They are all pretend of course and made from wood. There are no harsh edges , everything is smooth and rounded and coloured with a pink and white theme. Everything fits nicely into the vanity unit keeping it all together. I have had my hair and make up done no end of times this week as has my granddaughter when I have been in charge of the salon. We have had such fun playing salons. This salon set will improve communication skills, hand / eye co ordination, and when we added the till that we already have helps with numbers to.

True to form, Melissa & Doug have come up with a terrific little set. Well, our 4-year-old granddaughter thinks so, anyway! We love the fact that it’s largely made of wood, although it’s a shame it comes shrink-wrapped in plastic.The set is cleverly thought-out and nicely detailed. It’s comprehensive and well-made – prefect for role-play. There are some fun sound affects and yet no batteries are required (hurrah). Everything has its place and tidying up seems almost as much fun as play. How novel is that?!Others have gone into detail on what’s included in the set, so there’s no point in my repeating the list.

My grandchildren, aged 7 years & 5 years respectively, both adore role-play and this well designed set could easily have been made for them. It's so well thought out and extremely well made, sturdy enough to take quite a few knocks and last for years.The beauty salon theme, replete with excellent mirrors and 'make-up', hairdryer, straighteners etc. really appeals to my grand-daughter who loves copying her mother every day.Sitting at her 'own' little dressing table, she lives in her own fantasy world for absolutely ages.The detail in this set is amazing and incredible value for money. Another winner from Melissa and Doug which I highly recommend.

This Melissa & Doug Wooden Beauty Salon Play Set is really well made, as you can expect from any toys made by Melissa & Doug. It comes with all the accessories that you can expect: hair brush, blush brush, lipstick, nail varnish, blush, etc. The mirror is also of good quality. The drawer is also very handy to put the items inside to store it away.One niggle that we have is that to improve the overall experience, I think it should have included at least some real make-up. Perhaps a small lipstick and eye-shadow. I have now purchased these items separately and my daughters are absolutely loving playing with this set very often.

I love this melissa and Doug toy and the bright colouring is so attractive, especially to children.It is nicely presented and my 8 and 10 year old nieces' eyes nearly popped out when she saw it sitting on my table. They are super girlie and couldn't wait to play with this beauty station. They experimented with this for hours and said they couldn't wait to visit another day to play with it again.I would image many children would be incredibly happy to find this gift from Santa under their tree on Christmas morning. This would also make an impressive birthday gift etc.A great item that I highly recommend, 5 stars.

If it makes the girls smile then its worth it! Of all the expensive presents you buy its always the cardboard box that gets the most played with. However... give a shiny sparkly tiara to a little girl ( or boy come to think of it) and she doesn't take it off all day!These are definitely for children - they are only slightly flexible and do not fit an adult head no matter how hard it is rammed on by said small child. They have some small combs at the side incorporated to help sit in hair. The packaging is useless as a storage device so have somewhere to keep them. You will be loved for buying this!

This is a great little set made of wood, so will take some knocking and bumping around. My little Granddaughter just loves it, she love the little hair dryer and comb plus the little straighteners and the flip top bottle, she thinks it the same as my when I do my hair, and loves the mirror, thinks it's like her own little dressing table. She's always after my nail polishes and now she has them for herself, plus the make up. She's been in her own little fantasy world all day. Especially with a little drawer to hid everything, absolutely loves it. Well made very sturdy and lovely little accessories.
