This game has to be one of the best games I have ever played. I am not usually a fan of sports games but this game takes me beyond any sports game I've played before.OK.Let's start with the graphics. They are unbelievably real (the second best so far on 360 after Ghost Recon). The facial graphics are fantastic as well as the graphics of the crowd and objects (Muhammad Ali looks exactly like the real one!). Also, the human physics are excellent and the characters move realistically. Very occasionally however, a boxer's hand will punch through his opponents head (literally).Next, the gameplay. This is also brilliant; with controls being fairly easy to get used to. However, some punches require similar movements of the analogue sticks and you can often throw a punch that you don't mean to.The sound. Fantastic! You can hear the crunch of every punch, the cracking of bone, the thudding of your opponent's body hitting the canvas. The soundtracks and music are also great (mostly rap) but I suppose that depends on your your musical taste. The commentators are good and are only very occasionally repetitive. My only other concern is the crowd. On the default setting the crowd are not nearly loud enough but this can be solved by pressing start in the middle of the fight, going to settings and turning the crowd volume to full.Lastly, Lifespan and variety. The variety in this game is quite good for a boxing game as you can have multi-player fights, you can customize boxers and design your own boxers. You have the career mode where you can remake a legend e.g. Ali and you can make your own boxer and take him through all of the weight classes. As you take your boxer through his career there are trophies to win and competitions to win. To complete the game I think it would take you about a week of solid playing to complete all of the weights but the game could occupy you for weeks before you wanted another game.Overall, I would say that this game has to be one of the top 5 games on 360 so far. Others being COD 2, Ghost Recon AW, Proj Gotham and Perfect Dark.

Being a big fan of Boxing, i was really looking forward to getting this game.Firstly, the graphics are brilliant, and seeing your opponents face between rounds, and seeing the swelling is most rewarding part of the game!It is not a huge improvement on the other ones in the series, as there is no real advancement in terms of 'extras' In fact it is probably a carbon copy of round 2... except for a different design layout. Basically to get your fighter ready for the fight, you have to do the training... which is very very very very very very..(get the point?!) repetitive. You can skip this, but you only get 1/2 the points... Add to this you can only do one type of training per fight is a tad bit silly.Happilly, this part of the game is justified by the fact that you want to fight the next opponent.Apparantly part of this game is setting up rivalries with your opponent, weigh in fights etc... now i have done about 15-20 fights and have not had any input on this. Rivalries with other fighters...?? there is none other than what the game makes up itself. There is no weigh in as far as i can see (at least not yet!) so i am unsure what this is supposed to be all about.Happily i bought this game for the boxing... and that is where the game really shines. Some great fights await you, and there are some clear distinctive fighting styles which can be easy or hard to fight against depending on how you set up your fighter. Power puchers can literraly have one punch and knock you out cold, so it is something to remember when your speed fighter has landed 100 punches with little force...!!If you want a boxing game, this is the best of the lot, and the way you use the tru punch just throws you into the action... it may take a little bit of time to get used to for the newbies.. but once you get the hang of it, you will be ducking and diving with the best of them!

Fight Night Round 3 is probably one of the best games on the XBOX 360 and certainly the best Boxing game ever. There is too much to say how good the game looks, from the photo realism of the boxer’s skin and beads of sweat to lighting of the boxing venues and crowd. This game is probably the best looking on the XBOX 360 so far. The gameplay is really fun too, especially when you see the super slow-motion when you knock a boxer out. When I first got the game I button bashed to see how that would go. While you can get way with that and win matches if you play with a legendary boxer that has great stamina and lots of power. In career mode you have to fight with more intelligence, like a real boxer or you will start to lose more matches when your career is in full flow. Can’t believe the guy who said the game is slow and punches aren’t fast enough. This is boxing and when I watch it on Television you don’t see boxers throw instant punches. What are you going to complain about next, you can’t do a psycho fire with Muhamed Ali? I like my boxing games to be real and that is what this games is, and if you don’t like it then play the rubbish Ready to Rumble. The music is great. Given that 99% of real boxers come from gritty urban background, the gritty urban music suited the game perfectly. This review isn’t all sweetness and light, there are negatives. Maybe there could have been more venues, the game is missing major boxers like Lennox Lewis & Mike Tyson, the custom boxer option is good, but not detailed enough and all the boxers come into the ring with the same music. Given these are not fundamental flaws it doesn’t stop me from being a great game. If you love boxing you will love this game and if you love fun you will love this game. The makes of DOA4 take note.

I recently purchased this game not on the back of the previous FN games or reviews of this but because I played a boxing game on the old mega drive and really enjoyed it so fancied another boxing game and this was the latest.I have to agree with everyone else, the graphics and realism of the boxers is quite stupendous but even more so when you play a "Classic ESPN" match.I think people have mentioned the niggle of it being repetative but there is not much else you can do with a boxing match except keep knocking down your opponents :o) However I do agree the training is quite repetitive and not allowing sparring to improve your boxer in anyway I think was a mistake as it makes you less inclinedto do it apart from your first few fights in your first career.I started playing this game about a week ago and already I have a rivalry between my boxer WILSON "CLUBBER" CHAOS and some other loser pretender to the throne, but as for it happening at weigh-ins is nonsense, however if you have a rivalary the rival does seem to fight dirty with you as he kept head butting me but in the end "THEY ALWAYS END UP ON THE CANVAS".My niggles are the same as most training is repetitive and could be more diversity in who can train you as well as having a manager, etc. They could maybe give you an opprtunity to have press conferences to give the opponent boxer some "Jibe Talk" that would be fun :o)Finally I have to confess I am still hopeless with the stick controls and the Phil Shilby defensive style but I am 23 21-0-21KO and a Big Name in Popularity... The Skies the limit... Bring it on.

This is a superb game. I was caught between Ghost Recon and this, and whilst I'm sure GR is excellent, there is a freshness with both the tactical and strategic aspects of this game. The career mode is involving, and whilst it has been rightly criticised elsewhere for lacking involvment, you really feel an affinity with your boxer through the excellent character creation, which means that you improve your technique to stop him from running into trouble with some of the big hitters. The ESPN Classic mode is a wonderful way to see the styles of previous boxers and they provided with evocative background by Joe Tessitore. The graphics are excellent and the spot FX such as sweat and blood are like sandpaper to the eye.Although I love this game, it's difficult to see how people can enjoy putting themselves through so much pain in the name of sport. The much maligned in-game advertising is not annoying in the slightest, you can't help but grin when the Burger King mascot leads your boxer out with a dumb grin plastered over his maw.For me this is the best game I've played on 360. This may be because I'm not an FPS (or beat-em-up fan), and for that fact alone, it speaks volumes about the quality of this product, it really is the full package: playable, customisable and aesthetically compelling, other iterations will benefit from an exapnded interaction with your boxer, but, if you own a 360, you really should try it, even if it's just a rent, it's something different from the racers and FPS staple that we are served ad nauseum.Well done EA!

Quite simply put this is THE BEST boxing game ever created. It has everything you could wish for - excellent graphics, great sound, good learning curve and the online play adds months of extra game play to an already highly addictive title.Beat up the computer, beat up your friends or just beat up some random guy on the other side of the world via Xbox live - if you want to relieve some stress or just get the blood pumping this game has everything you need.I bought Fight Night Round 2 for the original Xbox and felt certain it could not be improved upon but with FNR3 they have really made the most of the 360's raw power. One really great aspect, as with its predecessor,is that by using the ultimate punch control (joystick) you eliminate those hopeless button-bashing friends of yours who have no skill yet still manage to beat you simply by smashing the buttons quicker than you can. Now just sit back and watch them squirm with frustration as you land a quick jab, one-two combination and finish them off with a haymaker, dropping them to the canvass. Even better watch their fighters face contort as you view the replay in slow-mo, complete with blood, sweat and tears spraying from their now disfigured face! Sounds gory but oh so satisfying! In a nutshell this game is the muts nuts. I've had it for 3 months now and I still keep coming back to it. If you have an Xbox live subscription this game really is a must buy and at the price that Amazon are selling it you really can't beat it for value for money.8..., 9..., 10... - You're out!

Normally I dont go for boxing games. They almost always turn into total 'button bashing' affair. Borndom then normally sets in soon after. Then I tried Fight Night round 3 on Xbox 360.For the first hour I was blown away by the graphics. The boxers look stunning! In fairness I dont know many boxers but I immediately could tell who was who. Now I would not say the boxers are photo real but it comes very close indeed. After a few hours of play something else happened!I found myself naturally picking my punches and intuitively working my way through each fight. Button bashing quickly lead to defeat! After a couple of days I was really able to mix things up throwing all manner of combos.Again this all happened naturally and without the need for memorizing. I just knew my way round the ring. The whole thing is easy to play but seems to take more time to master. As any beat em up fan knows this is key to any good fight game. Now if you dont like beat em ups nor boxing you will not enjoy this game. It unlikly to change your mind if you have already decided you dont like this kind of game. So dont buy it and dont rate it.Otherwise I can totally recommend this game to you. At last EA sports has done a game on the Xbox that doesnt seem lazy! This perhaps one of the best boxing games ever, or at least a contender for the crown.

What can I say the graphics are absolutely fantastic! beads of sweat, swirls of blood, swelling I could go on all night but thats not what you want.Fight night returns with a vengence the best boxing sim/game just got better! game face is perfect with fully customisable looks unlike other ea games that just give you a few variations on a set theme. The atmosphere is electric giving you the feeling you are actually in this fight and that every punch, block, dodge or illegal blow (providing you get it past the ref) counts! as you can see I love this game but it's not without it's drawbacks throwing punches is very slow I tried all fight weights to see if there was a deliberate slowness for heavyweightboxers as oppossed to featherweights but the punch speed remained the same a little dissapointing also the cutmen options are not quite as good as fnr2 but the fact that you have no health bar and so have to rely on how your boxer looks and reacts makes you concentrate on looking after your boxer in the first place which can lead to long fights especially when fighting against friends rather than the computer ai. A definate must have title for boxing or one on one fighting fans.

I got a PS3 with Fight Night 3 for my other half for christmas, and have found the game highly enjoyable so far. Both of us enjoy a multitude of different game types (football, shoot em up, fighting etc) and so we were not looking deep into the game, novice computer boxers as we are. The game is fun if you like to beat the stuffing out of your opponent, in a slug fest. Yes you have to time your punches using the right stick, but I like the idea of this as opposed to 'button bashing', and you also have 2 further Impact punches to throw at your opposition. Swing and miss, and you will get battered in a counter-attack from your opponent. The graphics are good, the replays with bone-crunching-spit-flying sound and effects are really funny, especially with face rippling punches. All in all, when you play for a while, ie a few 10 round matches, then your hand joints will cripple up, however if you like an entertaining yarn to while away some spare hours this is good. And Ricky Hatton is just as ugly in the game as real life! (Ahh sorry Ricky)

I purchased FNR3 on the back of some of the great reviews already posted, and I wasn't dissapointed. I just thought I'd add one myself. The graphics and gameplay are the best I've ever seen for a boxing game and the way that the 'famous' fighters look so true to life is exceptional, especially Ali and Ricky Hatton among others. There are so many more plus points, many of which have already been mentioned in previous reviews. All in all the good points far out weigh the bad points, but thought it only fair to point out a couple of things that do niggle me a bit. The way the fighters fall after being knocked down resembles a puppet with it's strings suddenly cut.The commentary can be very repetitive which can get on your nerves. I thought the career mode was a bit short and could have been a bit more in-depth, with maybe more options for management of your boxer. These points apart it is a great, fun game with hours of sweat blood and tears. Is it worth buying?.... a resounding yes!

Since i got bored of all of my other games i needed abother game to play so i bought fight night and it was a great decision. The graphics are the best iv seen. When you hit a counter punch and slow motion kicks in it is that detailed that you can see the sweat and blood on the fighters face. The controls are not to hard and you get used to it after a couple of fights. Sound in the game is also great. Your boxer would grroan loudly if hit hard. There are many places to hit your opponent; left, right ribs, stomach, cheeks, chin. There are many punches to throw such as counter punch, upper cut, left jab, right jab, left hook, right hook. You can fight the likes of sugar ray and ricky hatton and you can make your own boxer and gain experience, money and reputation. This game is an absolute must buy to experience the adreneline rush of trying to knock out your opponent in a fun amazin 12 rounds. When your opponent is down you feel like your the boxing king.

Well, where to begin? The controls are intuitive, the graphics are near photorealistic, for the boxers only, the rest are blocky and ordinary, the career and head-to-head are fun, online its a bit of a gamble. The boxers movements are well researched but when combined too quickly on screen, the fighters start to look like rock'em sock'em toys, very apparent when blocking and ducking. The pièce de resistance however, the classic match-ups. There is nothing like pummeling Ali into oblivion with Frazier or vice-versa, or stepping into La Hoyas shoes, and unlocking signature moves and equipment used by those very iconic boxing legends. All in all, a very worthwhile purchase and a buddy pleaser for those home tournaments. As all EA games, buying one of each series every three or four years gets you most of the improvements and spares you the disappointment, and cost, they never come cheap, of not very much changing for the better each and every year.

Bit of a problem here. The graphics, sound, soundtrack and controls are perfect. I'm no huge fan of EA games, but they got it right with FN Round 2.I'd just like to know WHAT THE HECK THEY'VE DONE TO THE SPEED?!Why is theis game almost in slow motion. I'm not talking about the parts where it's supposed to be slow, but the bulk of the gameplay. Punches are thrown WAY too slow. I'd understand this is you're in round 9 or 10, but not in round 2-3!!!Graphically it's good (well the characters are, the textures are crap. Lighting is good. Just a shame about the speed.I've given it 4-stars for potential, but if they demo is anything to go by, you'll definitely need to rent this one to see if it fits the bill.Gameplay is most important, but the slow speed of the punches could be detrimental to the game.Hopefully the extra 3 months they've had since the demo was finished will have been for tweaking and polishing.Be careful! Rent first.

This is a great month for 360, finally some games that demonstrate why I bought my new hardware. Fight Night is an amazing treat for all the senses. For the first time a game truely captures the essence of a sport. The visuals are truely amazing, and although you could pick faults here and there, they actually seem to feel more and more real as you play. Seeing the effects of the match on either boxer. Some reviewers have critisised the CPU for being too easy, I don't believe this to be true... for the average player like me, they are challenging and worthwhile. The overall presentation is good, although the soundtrack is lacklustre and rather poor, while the commentary can be repetative and contradictive.Overall, the graphics are truely realistic, and the fighting action is enthrawling and impressively natural... Highly recommended. Play it with the sound turned up and you'll be in for a treat :)

F.N.R 3 is a very decent game. But, the major promotion - and fault - of the game seems to be the 'total punch control'. This is simply the right joystick being used, literally by being pushed backwards and forwards or wound up, to control your fighter's punching. It is terrible. The control is fiddly and awkward. I have played the game through many different control settings, thank god we can change from the awful 'total control'. Setting 6 is the best - the right joystick will make the fighter block and the b,a,x,y buttons will do the punching. The game has awsome graphics, I don't have a HD tv and it looks amazing. Smooth moves and lovely blood and bone crunching action. The game is let down by trying to be too clever. Trust me; buy it, but don't break the bank and get rid of that rubbish control setting that will drive you mad and hurt your thumb!
