The troll doll comes in a brightly coloured presentation box with pictures of a couple of other trolls on the sides and a photograph of a little girl holding the doll on the back of the box.For collectors who don't mind opening boxes but don't want to damage them; the best way to get the doll out of the box is by slitting the scotch tape on the side tabs, opening the side panel and sliding the inner package out, (the doll is held securely on a cardboard sleeve with raffia strings around her neck and legs and sits in a clear plastic mould with a plastic cover over her hair. The doll is made in China for Hasbro, she wears what feels like a brushed nylon dress with thin velcro fastenings on the back so the child can remove the dress easily. The body has painted on panties and a heart shaped speaker on her tummy that can be pressed to activate the speech and lights on the head. She wears a plastic flower wrist band that can't be removed. Her eyes are painted on. Her bright pink hair feels like nylon, it is very soft but is glued to the forehead and around a cone shaped head piece. (This tapers to a point and feels like a thin antenna that will probably be broken off in time). A green plastic removable tiara comb adorns the dolls hair, it is could be worn by a small child but it is hard plastic.A small blue plastic comb comes with the doll but she only has a thin layer of hair that could be combed and I'm not sure how long the hair will stay on the dolls head if this isn't done gently. On the back of the dolls head is a slide switch that says “On; Try me; Off. There are two battery compartments on the dolls feet that need a small philips screwdriver to remove (Need 2 AA batteries for this and there are two already in place). The dolls arms and legs don't bend but can be rotated so the doll can be seated. In Try me mode, the belly button doesn't work but the wrist band does and relays a limited example of the 25 available phrases. When the button is switched to On the dolls hair lights up and she sings and asks for hugs and says your hair looks great and “Today is going to be the best day ever!” and other catchphrases in the same giddy voice as in the Trolls movie. The child size bracelet included in the package is held in place with clear plastic bands. It has a wide blue plastic band with 3 adjustable plastic pips to fasten it to a small wrist but on the widest adjustment, this would fit a small framed adult. A pink and yellow flower made of hard plastic sits inside the moulded wrist band top and you twist it out to change the batteries (Requires 3 small flat disk type batteries 1.5V LR44 which are already in place). You need a small philips screwdriver (The ones out of Xmas crackers are ideal). When the child presses the centre of the yellow flower the bracelet lights up and interacts with the doll. There are two pages of caution warnings in about 20 languages in the box, they basically give advice about not mixing old and new batteries or carbon zinc with alkaline and to keep them away from small children to prevent choking. All in all, the doll looks nice and is a really good size for older children 5+ years, it is fairly solid and not as hugable as soft toys. The doll is pricey but that is always the case with up-to-date toys made for movie franchises but its what the kids want these days. It is a shame that it doesn't come with a change of clothes and I don't think the hair will last long unless played with very gently. The tiara falls off all the time and needs an elastic band to hold it in place. I'm sure the doll would make a decent Christmas/Birthday gift and a collector of Trolls would love it.

Having been to see the Trolls film with my son recently, I think I may have been even more excited about Poppy when she arrived than him and my daughter were. This Hug Time Poppy toy is so much fun and my only disappointment is that Hasbro haven't brought out a Branch version as I would have happily purchased a Branch version (if one had been made) knowing how good Poppy is so that my children had one each.Poppy is not a small toy and stands at approximately 37cm tall not including the very top of her hair. She does come with batteries included however I had to swap the ones in each of her feet straight away as she would not work out of demo mode until I did.She takes 2 AA batteries which go into each of her feet and you will need a Philips screwdriver to open these two compartments. The bracelet also takes batteries but the cell type LR44/A76 ones and again the bracelet does come with these already included and up to now they have not needed to be changed.Poppy has a switch at the back of her head to swap her between the demo mode that she arrives in and to put her into on and off mode. There are three ways to interact with Poppy; by pressing the flower bracelet button, by pressing her tummy or by holding her hands and moving her (making her dance) from side to side.Poppy say's some phrases from the film(approx 25), hums some of her "Get Back Up Again" song and also sings some of the song too. When she speaks or sings her bracelet, the flower bracelet and her hair light up with her hair lighting up in blue, pink and red. I love that the voice used is the real voice from the film and that her hair seems to light up in time to her singing or speaking.Poppy comes with a comb for brushing her hair although it is pretty much styled as she has a shaped head underneath her hair and she also comes with a removable crown and dress. The crown is a little annoying as it doesn't tend to stay on very well and the dress has velcro at the back so your child can undress her if they want to. Poppy's arms and legs do move and she can be put into a sitting position and can stand on her own. Poppy is made from a hardish plastic and so isn't really huggable in a cuddly toy sort of sense but of course the Hug Time reference is to the bracelets and how the Trolls hug in the film when the bracelet's light up. Be prepared for a little bit of molting though as I'm still finding little whisps of pink hair around the house, although there isn't that much to be concerned with I did think it was worth mentioning and probably one of the reasons she is marketed as suitable for 4 years old and over. My daughter is younger than this and is playing with Poppy fine by herself but obviously that is a decision to be made by the parent(s).I love this toy and Poppy is lots of fun and especially for fans of the film. Both of my children love her and love dancing around with her and I only wish that Hasbro had brought out a Branch version too that could have sang "Can't Stop The Feeling" and I think they have missed out on a trick here. Brilliant fun toy and I would definitely recommend if your child loves Poppy and the Trolls.

To me, a hug time doll should have a plush, tactile feel perfect for hugs and cuddles. Unfortunately this Princess Poppy doll is a tough plastic that is decidedly un-huggable; at odds with the fact that Poppy will sing if you hold her and rock her gently. However ultimately my opinion doesn’t count when a particular Princess is ecstatic about her own Princess Poppy troll doll.I admit I’ve never been a fan of Trolls (not the first time in the 80s or now) but this doll looks super cute. She’s a bright pink, with a deeper pink hair, and sparkly blush on her cheeks. She wears a non-removable blue and green shift dress, and a blue and green bracelet; also non-removable,but her tiara can be removed; although it’s too small to share with a human princess. Poppy’s sturdy enough to stand upright without support, but I tend to rest her flat on a surface as I don’t think she would survive a fall from a kitchen counter top or dining table. The doll is accompanied by a small sparkly blue comb that has an interesting twirly design on the handle which doesn’t make it an easy grip for little hands. In addition I can see this part snapping off easily. The comb has a few chunky teeth than run easily through Poppy’s hair, but even so there are always a few pink strands caught in it. I think Poppy’s heading for baldness when her hair becomes a little gnarly after grooming is conducted by sticky little fingers, making it tough to run the comb through her hair.Poppy’s hair, belly and bracelet light up when you press the big flower button on the accompanying wearable bracelet, but it would have been nice if Poppy’s tiara had also lit up or sparkled in some way but it doesn’t. In addition, there are an advertised 25 phrases that Poppy says. If you’ve seen the film, then you’ll recognise the snippets of song and some of Poppy’s key phrases; which include a rather frenzied ‘sing, dance and hug’ moment and a segment of the undeniably catchy song about ‘not giving up’.The wearable bracelet isn’t that great. It’s very chunky and plastic looking; comprising of a wide sparkly blue fairly flexible wrist band with an enormous yellow flower on a pink leafy base stuck on top. The bracelet only flashes once when you press it; accompanied by a quick bell chime to let you know it’s connected to the Poppy doll. I thought it may flash in sync with Poppy’s hair but it doesn’t. It’s effectively just an ‘on button’ that flashes when you activate Poppy. I personally feel it is bulky for a little wrist, but there have been no complaints so far.I’d award this doll 3 stars, but the love it receives has bumped it up a star.Poppy approx. dimensions:Height (excluding hair) 230mmHeight (including hair) 390mmBracelet approx. dimensions:Flower 70mmx70mmx30mmStrap width 30mmComb approx. dimensions:At longest and widest points 80mmx50mmBatteries included: 3x cell and 2x AA

This doll comes very very firmly and securely packaged! It took me 5 minutes to remove it from the box!Poppy comes with batteries pre-installed which is fantastic to get started straight away. She has a Try me / on and off mode. Poppy is the length of my forearm and I was surprised by how big she is. She's made of plastic, with a removable almost felt feel dress. If the dress is removed she is pink with white painted on knickers and a heart tummy button. She's branded as a 'hug time' doll however unfortunately she's not particularly comfortable for hugging. She has pink hair and a comb however her hair is designed to stay in shape so only the very top layer is comb-able and is a little disappointing. She has a tiara which falls of easily and 2 bracelets. One bracelet is fixed to Poppy, the other is for your child (on biggest setting it fit my wrist and is easily adjustable). When you press your bracelet Poppy lights up in her hair and face and will say one of 25 phrases or play music including 'How about a hug', 'Everything is just cupcakes and rainbows' and 'I love your hair'. She has a try me/on and off setting. You can press on her chest for Poppy to speak or press your bracelet. When she is set 'on', Poppy does speak automatically sometimes without you touching her, after 1 minute she will go into sleep mode.Poppy's hair and face light up. The hair looks really cool especially when it's flashing blue and red but the close up light up face isn't great as it's patchy where plastic is thicker.Poppy has moveable arms and legs. She does stand up but her movement is limited. When you hold her hands, move her arms up and down and rock her side to side her lights flash and music plays. We found this really hard to trigger which was a really shame. The instructions clearly show in pictures what to do however we couldn't always get Poppy to play music by 'dancing with her'.There is currently a £42 price tag which is a little high for the quality I feel however any Trolls fan is bound to love Poppy, especially with her matching child bracelet.

Poppy is a troll princess from the movie, “Trolls.” She is very large and has bright pink, fluffy hair (you do get a comb with this, but styling is limited as the head is shaped and the hair covers it – this also lights up). Your child will be able to run a comb through this, but you cannot plait the hair or tie anything but the very tip. If you press her tummy, she speaks – there are twenty five different phrases in all and I like the fact that the voice/songs have the original voice of the character. If you hold her hands and rock her gently from side to side, she sings. Poppy wears a bracelet and there is also a bracelet for your child. If your child presses this, the two matching bracelets link up and this makes Poppy talk and sing and interact.Like many toys designed around movies, this has plus and minus points. The body is hard and the dress fairly basic. She is not very (if at all) cuddly and so, although she will ask for hug time, she is not really very huggable. However, she is colourful and, if your child liked the movie, this is sure to appeal. She is fairly large and she looks bright and cheerful; plus the voice will be familiar from the film. However, the outfit is not very attractive in terms of either looks, or material, and the tiara falls off constantly unless you use an elastic to hold it on. Movement is limited – this is a very solid doll – but she can sit (if propped up) and her arms and legs move. The interactive part of the doll is pretty good and she says a lot of different things – plus glows and lights up. My testers really liked her and so she was a success from their point of view – and probably your child will feel the same.

This is a great, but fairly large doll. I could see from the pictures and measurements from Amazon that she is quite tall, but she was still bigger than I expected - however this is no bad thing! My niece loves it, despite not having seen the associated film yet (which just shows the unending appeal of Trolls) - she combs her hair and constantly plays with the bracelet, sings along with the songs, everything that you'd expect from a besotted child.Mentioning the toy's size again - my niece does struggle to carry her for long distances, but moving her around the room is fine - I'd just worry if she wanted to take her out to the shops or something like that as quite quickly someone else would endup carrying her I expect. The bracelet works very well up to a distance - if activated in another room it is a 50/50 chance whether it will work or not in my experience. The voices and music come out very clear and quite loud, and there are a good variety of them so it doesn't get too boring too fast. It's a hard doll - so hugging isn't as comfortable as with a plush toy, but this doesn't seem to do any harm. The hair is thick and well attached, but you won't be able to style it because of this (maybe bows in the top?).Altogether a good toy which has gone down very well - I imagine once she has seen the film she'll love it even more!

Poppy is a big hit with my five year old!Upon arrival, Poppy is in demo mode - so be certain to switch her on or else you won't get all her features.Poppy is a really good size. About one third of her length is made up of her bright pink hair!... This comes with a tiara and a comb. The hair isn't actually that combable but it is a nice touch. There are three methods to use Poppy.1) By pressing the button on the child's bracelet (which comes with the toy)2) By pressing Poppy's tummy3) By dancing Poppy from side to side. The bracelet does up on your child's wrist and it lights up with Poppy as she speaks and/or sings. My daughter loves the fact that she can control Poppy from a button on her wrist.Dancing Poppy from side to side is actually quite difficult - her feet have to stay still in order to activate her and only her top half will move / activate her. My daughter finds it easier to hold Poppy's head with one hand and her feet with the other hand and manipulate her that way!... A bit of trial and error...Poppy is not a soft cuddly toy - she is hard all over, apart from her hair. But she is a fun toy and any child who loves Poppy from the film will recognise her and her voice immediately.Would recommend.

My grandaughter loved this doll. It's about 13"or 14" tall (not counting its barnet) and looks cute but it is made of a hard plastic resin so it isn't cuddly. You will need 2 AA batteries to activate its full functionality. 2 other required button-style LR44 batteries are supplied. When unpacked the doll is in demo mode but a switch located at the back of the head puts her into full interaction mode. She hums, sings and speaks in the same voice as the movie character and the phrases (about 2 dozen of them) and song extracts are lifted straight from the movie. The various functions are activated via her flower bracelet, by squeezing her tummy and by holding her hands and moving her back and forth laterally. Her hair lights up in blue, red and pink when she is speaking and when she sings her hair lights up in synch with the song rhythm. Her limbs move manually to allow positional changes. While I understand the appeal of this doll the price seems to have jumped by about £20 since she first appeared on the Amazon website so 1 star off for that.

I do love trolls, was a big fan as a child and it's lovely to see they have been brought back for a new generation to enjoy. This Trolls Dream Works Hug Time Poppy Doll is a great interactive toy but I would not describe it as a doll - as the body is not soft and the light up hair is a bit stiff so maybe not so great for "Hug Time"? The Troll arrives in display packaging with display batteries - so this is something you will also need to buy (2x AA and 3x cell). The Troll also comes with a bracelet that the user can wear, this lights up to match the doll. To get the doll to speak a phrase just press on her tummy, she also sings a song. I would recommend this toy for older children 6 and up,as there are some small parts and it seems quite delicate. This is a high priced toy but it is well made and looks very cute, I'm sure lots of little children would love to find this under the tree at Christmas!

Perfect gift for fans of the film - we've not yet seen it so don't know the songs but they are catchy enough. Poppy repeats 25 phrases and if you gently rock her side to side, she sings. You get a little brush to use on her bright pink hair and a bracelet that she or your child can wear. She is larger than I expected, which is why she must attract the £50-£70 price tag.My one disappointment was that despite being marketed as "hug time" she is made out of hard plastic so not really cuddly or suitable for your child to take to bed. The dress has a velcro fastening so easy to take on and off, arms and legs can be moved for a bit of interaction. It's a good toy and will give quite a bit of entertainmentbut maybe wait for the January sales!

To be strictly accurate the four year old loves it so I have taken my cue from her. She has had this since before Christmas and the doll is still played with on a regular basis. I hear her talking to the doll as do her friends when they are round. The bracelet and the phrases relate well to film.It is a cross between a troll (as I remember them ie rigid body) and a doll with a rigid body. Definitely not a snuggly soft teddy bear type of troll. For me, the only thing that was slightly disappointing is the hair. I expected masses of troll like hair to play with. Instead most of what I thought was going to be a mass of hair was a conical head with not a lot of hair. Ah well.

my 6 year old niece loved the Trolls film and she was overjoyed with this toy, it is more of a toy than a doll as its not plush and cuddly.the toy has a bracelet and there is also one for the child which when pressed makes poppy talk to the child which is really fun and kids will love. the bracelet's light up and so does the dolls hair (you also get a comb but there isn't much actual hair to comb as most of it is fitted around the light up bits). it has 25 different phrases so isn't repetitive and if you "dance" the doll it sings.recommended for any child who really loved the film.

My daughter adores this Poppy doll and has played with it constantly for the last few months. It comes with a glowing bracelet (like the one in the film) which glows and alerts you to when it's 'Hug Time'. The doll is a good size and well made. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it for kids who are past the chewing stage (the hair is a bit of a teething nightmare!) and who have enjoyed the film.

Very satisfied with the delivery. My little daughter couldn't wait to play with this Trolls Dream Works Time Poppy doll. She loves everything about it.
