I bought this game having played the demo, and it has yet to dissapoint. The criticisms that get cited regarding lack of rpg elements I feel are a little unfair. Oblivion is huge, but it hardly has the statistic fetish that most turn based rpg's display, it keeps the action up. Here in Dark Messiah, they take that emphasis and streamline it further, turning it into more of a FPS than a sandbox title. What keeps coming to my mind when playing this title is the great titles that were released on the Atari ST and Commodore Amiga back in the late 80's. If you remember Dungeon Master's 1 and 2 with great affection, and played all the copy cat games that they spawned, like Bloodwych for example; then the linear structure, first person perspective, and regular opertunity for combat against foul creatures, will merely give you a welcome trip down memory lane. There are some nice environmental attacks/interactions, the cut scenes are not terribly acted, there are some nice touches to lighting and shading, and melee combat is fun and satisfying.I bought Turok with high hopes, only to trade it in disgust against this 4 hours later, and I am so glad I did. Fantastic old school charm with a few new school touches.

This game is a little different from the PC version there are sections in it that didnt make it to the PC version for some reason, these sections add extra bits to the game. The combat is fun and quite well thought out you can approach the combat how you see fit and if you wanted you can try something different, as an example on the stairs by the cliff using ice arrows and watching the orcs slide off was quite amusing or using stealth to get past someone silently is very refreshing especially in some games where characters notice you no matter where you are :)Some of the things have completely changed from the PC version there is a huge worm in one of the sections where the PC version hasdragon like creature IIRC.Apart from that its a great game I would recommend it to anyone and for the low price you can get it these days you cant go wrong.
