Despite mixed reviews from the gaming press, Ubisoft's 'Just Dance' series has proved to be very popular with casual gamers. Just Dance and Just Dance 2 have shifted roughly 5 million copies each. It's good to know that all over the world there are uncoordinated souls like me who bought the games '...for the kids' (hem, hem) but end up playing and enjoying the games just as much as their offspring. While the original game (in my opinion anyway) had the better track list, Just Dance 2 looked and played better and offered extra songs that the keen could download for additional LOLs. (I recommend 'Crazy Christmas' for those in need of a good old skank at the end of a busy day.)...And I can't deny that these games have had a much longer appeal than I originally thought. These games, while hardly the sort of thing that gets Serious Gamers in a hot and sticky fanboy lather, are lots of fun and are an ideal way of wearing off your kids' excess energy on cold, wet rainy days.Even so, I wasn't exactly excited by the idea of Just Dance Juniors (also known as 'Just Dance Kids' in the US and elsewhere). Why would you want another version of the game you have bought twice already? Especially when there is overlap in the featured tracks?Game Design:The series game concept itself is unchanged in JDJ - *you* copy a virtual gym instructor as they shimmy gracefully and *they* score your quasi-rhythmic wobbling - but the look and feel of the game is different. For one, the almost stylish array of themed dancers in Just Dance 1 and 2 have been replaced by a trio of perma-smiling and remarkably coordinated children in a variety of silly costumes. The graphical design has changed from a 1980s neon night club theme to one purloined from CBeebies' 'Get Squiggling' via the 'Scribblenauts' Nintendo DS game. I quite liked this redesign; it really suits the game, even if it does feel like the designers are perhaps trying a little too hard to please their intended audience. The downside is that any kid over eight would think that the game was for little kids, and that's before they had heard any of the music. The Music:Ah yes, the music. At first glance the track listing seems promising given its raison d'etre. It's a pot pourri of current pop hits (e.g. Justin Bieber's 'One Time'), 'heritage' party songs like Madonna's 'Holiday' and Village People's 'Y.M.C.A', traditional kiddie songs like 'If You're Happy And You Know It' and 'The Wheels On The Bus' and lots and lots of novelty songs like 'The Chicken/Birdie Song', 'The Macarena' and 'The Hamster Dance Song'. But wait - before your excitement gets the better of you - most of these songs are cover versions sung by children. Ah. The spectrum of musical ability exhibited in these covers ranges from the cute and competent to the unspeakable; the whole gamut from, say, the squeaky yet melodic Stephanie-from-Lazytown to the utterly, utterly horrific atonal mauling inflicted by arch-mini sadists The Minipops. The more traditional songs like 'The Ants Go Marching' and 'Pop Goes The Weasel' seem to have survived this process the best. The aforementioned song about ambulant members of the Formicidae family is almost perversely enjoyable - someone somewhere obviously likes the Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk. Note that there are *some* tracks performed by their original artists, notably those by The Wiggles and the cast of Yo Gabba Gabba (yay!), but they are in the minority. My eldest daughter G (6-and-a-quarter years old) enjoyed making her own playlists. The one that alternated between 'The Chicken/Birdie Song' and 'The Hamster Dance Song' was not the for faint-hearted. Additional songs are NOT available for download. I'm not sure if this is a boon or a drawback. And finally... A word of warning. There is a cover version of Kim Wilde's 'Kids In America' that gives me ...The Fear. Let's put it this way - the (ironic?) demolition of the song by comedy thrash metallers Lawnmower Deth would be considered sympathetic in comparison. I really can't imagine anyone wanting to dance to the version featured in the game. Adopting the foetal position and crying for any passing responsible adult for reassurance, yes, certainly. Dancing, no. 'Ooh Crikey!', indeed. In summary, the music mix is fine for the pre-schooler crowd, but it will singularly fail to impress or interest anyone over the age of eight. Except for *that* cover, which should be locked in a lead-lined cabinet three metres underground and only allowed out at Hallowe'en. Brrr.Gameplay:Gameplay is as you would expect for the third title in a series; the game engine has been refined and seems more responsive and less unforgiving than before. Admittedly this might, in part, be due to the subtle and graceful movements that the game expects of you - a lot of jumping up and down and frantic waving of your arms and legs. This means that even the little ones, like my almost three year old M, can do that funny Jump-Up-And-Down thing they like to do and still score points. I also noticed that there are fewer helpful onscreen diagrams to help the confused and a surprising number of complicated dance moves which are more difficult than the ones in the grown up titles. The level of difficulty is more Channel 5's Milkshake's 'Bop Box' than CBeebies' 'Boogie Beebies'. (Get your preschooler to explain if you don't understand what I mean by that.) Also... I really wasn't expecting the Junior version of the game to be MORE exhausting than the adult version, but it is. Finally, and most importantly of all, bouncing around to 'Get The Sillies Out' really is a blast. I'm forty year old married dad of two. Please don't judge me.Summary:I quite liked the game. My children enjoyed playing it. For the first couple of days after purchased it, we shook until all the sillies were out and partied our tummies all day until it was time to go to bed. I would recommend this game to anyone who has children under the age of eight, but they may want to save their money if they already own any of the previous titles in the series. Older children should steer clear. Embarrassingly uncoordinated parents should steer clear also, but only to prevent the blushes of their children.

My older daughter has both of the Wii Dance games which my 4 year old daughter also loves to play however most of the time she scores badly or not at all because she doesn't keep up with the dancers.I bought Wii Dance Juniors because I thought it would be more suited to her age and ability and it is one of the best Wii purchases I've made for her age group. We have Nickelodeon Fit, which she has no interest in, and Dora Saves the Snow Princess, which she likes but I wouldn't say it's a favourite, as well as many other family orientated games. Wii Dance Juniors is her favourite and she will happily dance on her own for ages. She is delighted to see that she is scoring higher and higher each time.Although some of the songs are baby-ish (she doesn't do those ones)there are lots of others and some are quite up to date. I won't list the songs as other reviewers have done so before me but suffice to say these songs/dances are aimed at younger children - I wouldn't think anyone above the age of 7 or 8 would be interested. Most are sung by children so not the original artists but my daughter doesn't care who's singing. Each song/dance shows a difficulty rating and an effort rating which I like. I was surprised that although some are very easy to follow, some can be really quite difficult which keeps my little one on her toes. All in all a good buy that I would recommend to other parents.

I just love this game... it is not only for children, all of the family can play with it and it is not need to even touching the wii remote controls... of course if what you want it is to get points, then you need the controls, but if you do not care about getting points but having fun with it... you can just put the playlist and dance for a long time in company of the children. My younger daughter loves this game, she is two years old and she like to copy the moves of the dancers and such... it is so much fun, good music, good graphic and my older daughter understood how to make it work so they can play together, dancing for hours. Really happy with buying this game... if you are looking for a fun game, easy to use, that has a lot of variaty of fun things to do with it, and that can be used for all of the family, you just found it! Totally recommended!

We as a family really enjoy the Just Dance games especially my partner and daughter. Dance Juniors is made by the same people Ubisoft and there are over 40 fun tracks for you and your family to enjoy together. Up to four players can play at the same time and there is a good mixture of different types of songs. Upbeat dance hits unclude "ABC" by the Jackson Five, "Holiday" by Madonna and "Surfin' U.S.A" by the Beach Boys which are all recorded by kids. There are some fun tv dance hits such as "Hot Potato" by the Wiggles. Last of all old favourite songs which will remind you of your childhood whilst you were at school. These are as follows: "Old MacDonald Had A Farm", "When The Saints Go Marching In","If You're Happy And You Know It" and "Wheels On The Bus". If you and your family like

Nice quick delivery from Amazon as usual, and the same afternoon we presented the game to our 3 yr old daughter for whom it had been bought. I think it has been played pretty much every day since, this is great fun and really gets the whole family moving. We wanted a game that our daughter could play as the Wii Fit and Wii sports tend to be a bit difficult for her. She absolutely loves dancing around to this and up to four people can play it provided they have a controller each. It has 40 songs on, some more suited to pre-schoolers and some the parents will remember from their younger days! You can select younger, older or both depending on who is playing. It is very simple to set up and is guaranteed to get you moving and laughing. A brilliant purchase, we all love it. Great game.

I bought this for my children 4 and 6 years and they love it, its one of the first things they like to do after school. There is plenty of choice for the songs, they are not by the original artist but they are still catchy, my daughter doesn't know the original versions any way! It also has a good balance of kiddie songs from the Wiggles and Yo Gaba Gaba which my 4 year old always selects. Even my youngest who is 2 loves to have a go (wave the remote and wiggle)The navigation is easy for my 4 year old to select what he wants without much parent interaction which mean I can get on with something else. It also gives them a good workout on a rainy day, they often spend a good 45 mins and are worn out after. This is a definite must for any child who loves to dance.

Just received this today. Kids are playing on it as I type! They are aged 3, 5 & 7.3 year old not keen on holding controller but happily copying moves from screen with the other two. Very similar to just dance just kid user friendly, slower movements and more repetitive. If the songs had been sung by original artists rather than kids I would have scored 5 stars, however the wiggles do appear in their own voices which is good. It is a little irritating hearing the whiney voices of the non star sung songs. There shows a difficulty and effort rating as in just dance and follows a very similar format. Easy to operate. There is a freeze and shake added to it too to see if they are concentrating on instructions.A really good family game at a bargain price.

Bought this game as a birthday gift for a seven year old. Have to say it is very entertaining for children and adults alike - good exercise too! Has been played by 4 year old and seven year old constantly since received and is also the first thing to be put on when friends come over to play. Songs are a bit out-dated for a 'new' release with hits such as 'Who Let The Dogs Out' and 'Kids In America' - the latter being in the charts when I was growing up! They are also not sumg by the original artists which is a bit of a shame. Saying that, the songs and dance moves seem to be a hit with all ages from the four year old to grand-parents. If it is active and fun then it can't be a bad thing.

Although I hesitated a bit at first, because this was our first dancing game for Wii, I decided to buy it for my kids (mostly for my daughter). It proved to be a really really fun game! I also dance with her sometimes! Can take part up to 4 players, which is good when friends are at home and want to play too. There are some easy-to-dance songs and also some are harder, which will make it interesting also in the next years. The songs include also the lyrics to sing along. Definitely a game worth buying!

Hello, I have a three year old constantly on the run. About 6 months ago I had a babyand had my parents to help around. But when they left and the holidays started, It was very difficult for him to stop shouting when the baby is asleep during the day. I read some reviews and got it to try and it was magic!! My boy enjoys the dances and keeps away from the baby and he loves all the dances. Me and my husband joined him, believe me it's not just fun but gets a lot of fat burning!

Ordered this for as a combined gift for my 6 and 2 year old, both love it and I enjoy it too. It has a lot of catchy songs that the kids enjoy and It can give Me a good workout too and has a handy feature of letting you know how many calories you have used so useful if you are watching your weight. I would recommend it to anyone whose kids like to be active when the weather is too bad for them to be outside.

Bought for a birthday present for my 5 year old niece. She loves to participate in activities with her big 7 year old brother so this was a perfect buy for her. No complaints about the music or anything like that as far as I know. But definitely too complicated for the 2.5 year old!!
