Bought this and the 'Laser Cut Nutmeg Mill', as I wanted a gift for my grandmother, and I didn't know which would be best. I found this one a little hard to start off the nutmegs grinding. It also has a very tight spring that needs to be lifted to allow a nutmeg into place. Of course it needs to be tight to have the pressure to hold it in place. I managed okay, but my grandmother would not. Also I found it awkward to hold, there was no where comfortable to grip it. Again fine for me, but wouldn't suit my grandmother. So I have kept this one and will give the 'Laser Cut' one to her. In saying all that, this one is a lot better than any other types I've tried in the past and you don't grate your fingers,

The grinder arrived within a couple of days. The chamber for holding spare nutmegs has a small screw-in plug at the bottom, so useful for storage. The grinder doesnt come with nutmegs, which was fine since I had some in a bottle already and didnt need more. Since I am one of those people who only reads the instructions as a last resort, having loaded some nutmegs, I spent a few minutes turning the grinder handle to no effect. After reading the small instruction booklet, I realised that you have to raise the grinder handle to allow a nutmeg to roll under the grinding part, then release the spring that holds it against the grinder. After that, it worked fine. Plenty of ground nutmeg came out.

I find this the best yet, but it's not perfect. The main problem is that nutmegs hold moisture. This then clogs the machine frequently so you have to keep cleaning the slots with a knife. The steel bottom bit fell off within a month or two, but we glued it back and its stayed put for the last year. Then the bung at bottom cracked, but I found a cork just the right size. It works VERY WELL if you only put one nutmeg in at a time and store the grinder on a radiator. It is then a joy to use and we eat much more nutmeg than before.

I've had several nutmeg grinders over the last ten years, mainly because most of them are rubbish and stop working, or are worse and never work at all. This one is elegantly designed, well made and works pretty well, although it can be fiddly to load and a bit inefficient to grind when the nutmeg rolls into a certain position. Nevertheless it's good enough value - so until James Dyson invents the perfect Nutmeg Grinder (probably at £100), I'm OK with this one.

This is excellent value at the Amazon price. It is easy to fill and works very well. I use it for sprouts and for the top of my morning Capaccino so have used it fairly consistently since I bought it and it seems to be grinding the nutmeg all the way through so there is no wastage (and no grated fingers!) It is especially good that it stores other nutmegs ready for use. I recommend it.

Bought this for nutmeg sprinkles on coffees and it works well once you figure how to get the nutmeg into it! But I was having a blonde moment and once you get the bottom one in the right place it works perfectly, haven't had any problems with it since purchasing it at xmas and it keeps the nutmeg fresh and in one place rather than rolling around the top drawer where they were before.

It seemed a bit extravagant buying a quite expensive mill when a simple grater could have done the job. However, I have arthritic fingers and struggle holding a nutmeg and got tired of fishing them out of rice puddings, etc. As I use nutmeg quite frequently it has been well worth the investment, it is well made and simple and straightforward to use and I would recommend it.

Previous item got damaged in recent house move, I'd had it for years and years it's a very effective product unfortunately it can stand having heavy wardrobe dropped on it ? well priced for nicely designed followed through with well constructed reality, it's also smart enough to be in the table if You see fit

The nutmeg grinder is a lifesaver for people who like me tend to grate their fingertips or drop the whole nutmeg into a dish by accident as they are so fiddly! This makes adding a hint if nutmeg to any dish a sheer pleasure. It's sleek design fits neatly in my spice cupboard. Thoroughly recommended!

I am so pleased with this grinder .I have wanted one for some time ,but I thought the others on the market (Peugeot)that seemed good were rather expensive especially for the limited use that I had for one.This one was at a very reasonable price & much cheaper than other retailers.

Really pleased with the item. I have Cole and Mason mills for Salt and Pepper so took the plunge and purchased this as I liked the other product. They didn't disappoint and its nice to be able to use Nutmeg more readily without having to skim my fingers on an old fashioned grater.

Wonderful little gadget - cleverly designed - easy to use - you always know where to find the other nutmegs - stops me grating my fingers on the old one I used before purchasing this one - smooth working action, super for my arthritic fingers. Definitely a good buy.

Bought for me for Christmas. I use a lot of nutmeg so this will save me many scraped knuckles and let me use up the whole nutmeg rather than throw away a quarter of each. I really like the design and so far its been working without issue.

I was upset when I dropped and broke my previous nutmeg grinder which I'd had for years and years. I am fairly pleased with this replacement (after I'd got the hang of how to load it!) and look forward to many more yummy rice puddings!

My old round grater came to the end of its life and I bought this one. I love the fact it's easier to hold than my old round one, I like the fact you can store some nutmegs in it and it grates very well.
