This is a sturdy drum with a thick handled drumstick with rubber top that it is easy for older babies to use. The stick stores under the drum, held securely, but it is possible for older babies to get it out by themselves if they want to. The only possible flaw is that the holes in the top make it possible for food to get lodged inside and it would be hard to get inside to clean. My son has been using it from about 9 months to 1 year old and it makes enough noise to hold his attention, but is not so loud as to be irritating. It makes a few different sounds on the top as well as the side. It is made to the same excellent standard as other Brio products.

My baby can now sit up and this is perfect as he loves making a noise! I have found that wooden toys are far more durable and brio has been our go to brand for many of our son's toys. It's not huge so doesn't take up loads of space and easy to store away, easy to clean and great fun to play with!

This is such a lovely item. I can't stand the plastic fantastic everywhere although children love it,.. I also love this and am happy to leave it out on view. Love Brio toys. Big thumbs up from me and my 1 year old boy.

This is a gift but also buying for my daughter! The reason why I went for this one is because it’s has a pleasant sound and not as load as other drums or baby instruments. It does what it promises and it is beautiful!

Excellent quality product and what i liked was it has a short drumstick so relatively safe (no eye poking). Makes lovely sounds not brash sounds like plastic drums. Also has litt slot to store the drumstick

Given as a gift, the parents I am sure enjoyed their little boy banging this drum all day and all night. Ideal gift (sorry!)

very soft noise when used. boys not interested in it unfortunately but thats not a fault of the product

I think I probably like this more than my son! Good sound, good build quality, it simply feels...nice.
