When I purchased the bin I also purchased a supply of size A 3 litre liners as 'recommended' in the "Frequently bought together" section. However, the bin came with 5 size V 3 litre liners and that was confirmed by the size recommendation inside the bin lid.I contacted Brabantia via the web form on their site and the reasonably prompt reply contained the following explanation:Begin Quote. The "A" liners are a little to large (you can still use them) for the newicon bin & would require the "V" liners, the problem is the new liners will be out in around 3/4 weeks for sale. The codes will change as the older style bins & liners sell out & will only then have the "V" on them & with those liners youwill get a perfect fit for the newicon syle bins.End Quote. In fact at the time of writing V size bags *are* in stock on the UK Brabantia site but only in the largest quantity (240 waste bags). I note that Amazon prices for Brabantia bin liners (various sizes) appear to be that same as those listed on the Brabantia site (at the time of writing there are no V size liners listed on Amazon). My comments only relate to the "Brabantia Pedal Bin newIcon with Plastic Inner Bucket, 3 Litre - White" but the other bin sizes in the range may also specify different code sizes than those currently recommended/available on the Amazon product pages. Given that the bins come with 5 liners it would seem wise to buy the bin before ordering additional liners in order to be sure you are ordering the correct size code. If you register the bin with Brabantia and at least agree to receive their newsletter, by return email you get a 10% off code your next purchase from the Brabantia site which you could use to purchase liners if you wish.I have no problems with the bin itself and am considering whether to use my 10% code to purchase a second larger size bin for another room in addition to a supply of liners for both bins.

I know, a pedal bin is a just a pedal bin and is difficult to get excited by but this new 5 litre model from Brabantia has a couple of improvements over what may be lurking in your bathroom or bedroom. the bin itself has pleasingly rounded edges with no nasty sharp bits. The Matt brushed stainless steel finish looks good although fingerprints will show up more easily than say a solid white finish. It does however give this modest bin a premium look and the overall perception is that this is a quality product. It has the expected removable plastic inner liner and also comes with a pack of 5 Brabantia drawstring bags. Goes without saying that whilst these are perfectly matched size wise to the bin, your local supermarket can also offer alternatives.A soft close action is a welcome addition and even the plastic pedal has been given a makeover with the material chosen looking better, even if there is no change to the fact it is plastic. Brabantia cite the environmental credentials of this bin but I suspect most will be won over by the damped operation and restrained good looks. All in all, a stylish little bin with thoughtful design and a premium appearance. Not the cheapest but in this case I would suggest it is worth it. Recommended.

You know what you're going to get with Brabantia: high quality, high cost, products; the question will always be "is it worth it." Admittedly, from time to time, these can be over engineered or fall slightly short of the mark, but in all cases the finish and solidity is top notch. This bin is another great example. The fit of the lid wouldn't be out of place on a car door; there's no lateral play, and the soft close is gorgeous. As always with Brabantia bins it comes with a small sample of liner bags, which would also cost an arm and a leg if you were to continue using themIt really does feel like you're getting a bin of note.Of course, you may not feel that a small bin could ever be worth this much money, and there's not much capacity her to justify the outlay; because of the plastic liner bucket, and bulk of the pedal mechanism, these seem on the outside to be much larger than is actually the case. This means that for a compact dimension there is relatively little space inside. In my view, unless you're a single person with minimal waste, the 3l is just a tiny bit too small, even for use as a bathroom bin, and I'd probably go for the 5l version.

This is a slight revision from the older bins, and whether it's better or worse is a matter of preference - I am undecided:I have several of the older version of this bin, so got it to compare. The lid is now slightly domed so you can't balance a cup of tea on it, but it looks very nice. The lid now has a silicone damped spring to silence it on closing, and sits snugly on a tapered top to the bucket, which makes it pretty air tight to keep smells in.The bucket is water-tight so you can throw things in which might leak without risk. The one I got has a brushed stainless finish which is so good it must be seen: it's really well done. It's also got a 'Brabantia'logo on the side instead of on top of the hinge moulding.Neither the bin nor the bucket have carrying handles, which is a big minus in my book. The plastic mouldings for the pedal and lid hinge assembly are smoother, but in a lighter grey which I don't like as much as the older black mouldings.Needless to say, it's well finished and sturdy. Whether it's an improvement or not is down to whether you like the grey plastic, and whether you miss the carrying handles.

The dimensions of this stylish ‘Brabantia Pedal Bin’ are 8 inches diameter x 11 inches tall, and for me this 5-litre option falls between a smaller size for a bathroom or a larger size for a kitchen, but there is no argument over its high quality. The bin is robustly constructed in corrosion resistant steel with matt finish, with a firm plastic non-slip base, a smoothly open-operating plastic foot pedal accurately connected with a steel rod to a sturdy plastic hinge on the slow-closing steel lid. It is provided with a neat fitting plastic inner bucket, and it comes with a pack of 3 bin liners.Product information claims odour-proof closure, but with liners the lid does not fully shut. Without liners,if used for ‘dry’ items, the lid closes accurately. There is no handle for removing the inner bucket, and no handle at the hinge for moving the bin around. The ‘Brabantia Pedal Bin’ may appear expensive, but it seems fit to last as endorsed by a 10-year guarantee. Other standard sizes are 3, 12, 20 and 30 litres, and the bins are available in a range of colours.

It's a nicely-built bin, it's functional, it looks good, and even if you want to use Brabantia's own liners they're not very expensive. I can't think of a down side. The design is spot on. The matte steel version I've got doesn't show up splashes or fingerprints too badly which is an obvious must in a bathroom object. (Don't get me started on chrome fittings.) It opens and closes pleasingly with the right force and speed, and feels solid. The inner bucket is robust and fits in smoothly. Use the special liners the company makes and it looks really tidy, with the rim of the bag just folding under the inside edge of the bucket, but you can use any old small plastic bag or liner obviously. The best feature, which I hadn't realised I needed in my life, is the little rubber foot under the pedal that stops the damn thing scooching off across my tile floor into the corner when I pop the lid open.Which bin to buy isn't something I give a lot of thought to but this met my needs perfectly. Very impressed.

This was destined for the bathroom, and according to the box, that's what its for - your smallest room. The one I received has a matte brushed metal finish. Yes, this is a fingerprint magnet but given that this is a pedal bin which automatically closes, you don't actually have to touch it.Inside, is a little plastic receptacle that you put your bin liner in. You are supplied with 5 free bin liners. This is a stylish, discreet little bathroom bin, and the thing I like most about it is the soft close top. I notice a fellow reviewer received one where the lid doesn't close by itself. My lid closes completely and automatically, so they appear to be designed to do so. If you have problems ask for a replacement. My soft close toilet seat didn't soft close for longer than a few months until the mechanism went. I don't know how long this bin will soft close for - we shall see and I will update. But at the moment, I love it.

It turns out that Mineral Concrete Grey, is a sort of dark beige with sparkly bits (it's always so difficult to get a good idea of colour from online pictures) which works quite well in my white with grey "highlights" bathroom. The opening and closing mechanism is really smooth and gentle - no crashing and clanging. And whether it's the base or the gentleness of the opening/closing or both, it seems to stay where it's put on my tiled floor. 5l seems to me to be a pretty ideal size for a small bathroom (when your local council only collects rubbish once a fortnight) but it probably means that there's not much alternative to buying quite expensive Brabantia bin liners unless you happen to be possessed of more than a normal amount of patience.Overall I like it so much that I'm now considering replacing my kitchen bin with a somewhat larger Brabantia.

A fantastic little bin for the bathroom. Incorporating a removable inner bucket that makes changing the bin liner easier. The good bits:Great build quality, the colouring is fantastic and of high quality. The mechanism works well, if a little less smoothly than the bigger bins, still very good for a smaller bin.The removable inner is very useful for changing the bin.Great support from brabantia with their 10y guarantee. The bad bits:The bin liners are a little expensive if you go branded, but they do fit very very well, are of good quality in that they don't break easily! The bin can move around on the floor fairly easily due to its small size and lack of decent non-slip feet. Not the biggest gripe but it would've been nice. There's no handle on the outside of the bin which would've been useful for moving the bin, again, only a little gripe.

This is far more expensive than your average bin but everything about it exudes quality. We bought it because the base of our previous one started rusting after a surprisingly short period of time. As we use it in the bathroom it was clearly not suitable. The base of this bin is made out of plastic so will therefore not rust. It has a soft protective base that will hold it securely in place without scratching the floor. It has a soft-close lid which means it is completely silent. The colour, oh my word the colour! The colour tone exudes class, it is very well chosen and will match a lot of different colour schemes. It is hard to describe but although the bin looks bright in the picture,it's deep satin finish which subdues the colour.3L does not hold a lot but it works if emptied frequently.

I bought this to replace an older version of Brabantia's small step trash can. The plastic bucket in the old one (decades old, as I inherited it from my parents) had gotten badly pitted, so that it was impossible to clean. That may happen to this one too over time, but if it lasts me for a couple of decades first, then I can live with that. While it's not designed to be used as a compost bucket, it's a perfect size for it, and you can scoop up two handfuls of veggie scraps and open it with the foot-pedal. After having that available to me for a few years, I couldn't imagine having to do it one-handed as all the compost buckets require. And it fits nicely in a corner instead of taking up valuable counter space!

A really nice little bin, probably for a bathroom or bedroom, but not for an office (too small). It has a plastic inner (which can be washed) to avoid any spillage and mess and it has a soft close lid. The lid is a good seal to stop odours escaping and it comes with a supply of bin liners inside. My bugbear in hotels is pedal bins that tilt towards you when you try and use them and then the lid bangs shut when you lift your foot. This lid lifts easily and smoothly and shuts gently (and quietly). Brabantia are a well known make of many appliances and we already have a large Brabantia kitchen touch bin which has given us years of service and is as good as new. This one will be a welcome addition.

I love good makes and quality means you don't need to throw them out within a few years use. Brabantia are known for their quality and I decided to purchase one for the bathroom. I didn't check the dimensions properly and what arrived was a tiny bin. I decided to just put it in our downstairs loo and buy another larger size for the upstairs. Lovely bins but the larger one arrived with a small scratch on the lid. Disappointed by Amazon for letting this happen but I decided not to return just as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. It's only tiny so you hardly notice the scratch. Suits our bathroom and has a removable inner sturdy black bucket for easy disposal. Over all great bins.

Brabantia I guess are best known for their bins but now of course do other kitchen appliances including toasters (I know because I have one).Modern bins are sized in litres which alas does not really mean a lot to me and this bin is smaller than I imagined. The bin inside diameter is 7" / 178mm and inside the height is 8.5" / 190mm so it is quite small. The external finish looks good and it has a damper gadget so the lid comes down softly. The bin liner lifts out and if the waste products you are going to use it for are messy bin liners bags are available (plus you get a sample 5 pack included). For more see

You cannot go wrong with Brabantia bins for its quality and you get just that for what you have paid for. Got same bin with touch open 30 litre for the kitchen and still like brand new for a couple of years now. Bin arrived with some bin liners to which was useful! Purchased it to replace existing bin that keeps getting filled up too quickly....think must be a 3 Litre bin I got from the high street. Initially thought it was going to be same size bin as didn't have a clue how big old bin was, so glad to find it is bigger but not an eyesore in the bathroom. It gets my thumbs up without hesitation!
