We previously had a larger 60L Brabantia bin, and that has served us well for over 10 years. The only thing that broke in the 10 years was the closing clasp (due to normal wear), but even that was no problem because you are supplied with spares.60L is a bit big for a couple with no children in the house, so we wanted something considerably smaller with the same quality, and this bin looks to be perfect. This 20L bin is up to the usual Brabantia quality, and has a nice damped lid action. It is double lined, having an inner plastic bucket, so is waterproof (and pretty airtight) for the person who is going to throw in soggy items, food or perishables into it.Downsides? No handle on the inner bin.Not a problem for me as this is a small bin so doesn’t warrant it. The outer bin’s lid hinge doubles as a handle (it has a recessed area for your fingers to go so you can lift the whole bin up without coming into contact with the potentially dirty bits, and for the more fastidious, allows you to clean the outer shell without putting fingerprints on it).Cost. Supermarket own brands now do Brabantia copies for much cheaper. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether they are built to the same quality and will last 10 years! (We had two 60L Asda bins for our office kitchen at work, and the lid of one of them went after only 3 months, so my impression is that the copies are not designed for the same lifetime). The damped close action may be a bit much for some, especially the kitchen cook who is constantly throwing bits and pieces into the bin (although most cooks tend to have a waste bowl on the cooking surface for this, so possibly only an issue if you are doing it wrong!).Who would buy this?Anyone looking for a second, smaller bin (home office, bathroom, upstairs landing). The green household looking for two kitchen bins for waste/recyclables or waste/compostable. The fact that you can choose the bin colour is helpful here! The small family or couple looking for a smaller bin (one of the perks of the kids finally flying the roost!).Overall, a nice bin from the quality end of the market. Built to last, and looks nice (especially if you match the colour with the rest of the room).I have used this bin for 2 months before reviewing it.

Solid and durable, this Brabantia Pedal bin is a smart looking bin, and will look great wherever you choose to use it.There's lot's to like about this bin. For a start, it's easy to clean. The shiny exterior means you can easily give it a wipe over, and the bucket inside just pops out (meaning you can easily disinfect it etc.)I especially like that it's a bin with a foot peddle, because if your hands are dirty or full, you don't have to try worry about touching the lid. Regarding the lid, it fits snugly on top, so you don't have to worry about any bad smells escaping. Also, when you release the foot peddle, the lid will close slowly, so no worry about the lid suddenly banging closed.Brabantia have put a lot of thought into the design of this bin.Not only is it designed to look aesthetically pleasing, but it is also consumer friendly. Brabantia have designed a range of bin bags for all their bin sizes, and this one is no exception. As a 12 litre bin this will take Brabantia bags with the 'C' label. The manufacturers have ensured that you will always know what size bag you need, with a handy pull-out card label found in the lid of the bin. Handy. However, this brings me to the first downside of this product. The bags aren't exactly cheap. And although they give you some with your bin to trial (they were very good, by the way - and I especially liked how they fit the bin perfectly, and you could tie the top off, when throwing them away), I think in the future I will continue to use cheaper versions. The second downside would be the bin size. At 12 litres its a perfect kitchen bin for someone living on their own. But for anyone with a family they may begin to struggle. It was disappointing to discover that this smart, sleek bin would not be replacing my ugly plastic one. Oh well. On the other hand it works perfectly in the bathroom, or as a nappy bin, or as a very smart craft bin (would look great in a craft room/corner).Overall this is a great bin, though some people might want to go for a bigger size. Yes, its expensive for a bin, but Brabantia have put a lot of thought into the overall design, and what's left is a good quality, nice looking bin that does its job exceptionally well.

BRABANTIA 30 LITRE PEDAL BIN IN MATT STAINLESS STEEL FINISHBrabantia are well know producers of quality household items and have been around for just under 100 years. In that time they have earned a reputation that many would be jealous of and are rightly proud.Their latest offering is a range of superb pedal bins in 5 sizes from 3 litre, 5 litre, 12 litre, 20 litre and 30 litre. Available in a number of attractive colours (about 9) plus mirror and matt stainless steel. With such a range they are equally at home in the kitchen, utility, bathroom, office or in fact anywhere you need a waste bin. Recycling today has encouraged us to think about separating our waste and with 5 dustbins outside, the environmental option proves to be the easiest. The 30 litre bin stands just under 27" tall and about 12" in diameter and the size has a reasonable capacity for daily use. The matt finish stainless steel is smart, attractive and does not suffer from finger marks although a quick wipe with a damp cloth is all it needs to remove anything.Inside it has a full size strong plastic bucket that can be used as it stands or with a liner bag (available to fit all sizes - the 30l version comes in at £5.99 for 40 bags) and Brabantia send a few with the bin for starters. The lid is operated by a very effective foot pedal and has a quiet / gentle soft close. For removal of waste either remove the bucket or (easier) lift out the liner bag. Depending on what type of waste, the liner bag will be one time use or (if paper / clean waste) can be used several times. At the rear there is a carry handle of sorts but can be uncomfortable to use if the bin is full. Removing the bucket is a bit easier depending on the weight of the contents and removing the liner bag is definitely the easiest way.Typical of Barbantia is their 10 year warranty, not that I think you will need it as this is a top quality item but it is reassuring to know that if anything does go wrong their effective Customer Service is just a phone call away.An attractive and versatile quality pedal bin that will last for many, many years. Highly recommended especially for the size and colour variations.

What’s good:Neat and clean stylingExcellent foot pedal balance10 year guaranteeOcean Cleanup charitable donationWhat’s not so good:Brabantia bins are never cheapOfficial bin refill bags are also expensive (so find a cheaper alternative)I’ve often been put off pedal bins because of ones you get at work or out in public where the pedals are usually hanging off or cheaply made so that the downward force of your foot could unseat the bin itself, and it all just seems a bit low-grade. I’m not a bin-snob, but I do like a bin to be effective and effortless to use, without having to worry about whether the lid will fly off, the pedal break or the bin itself to tip backwards.None of those issue appear to apply to this pedal bin from Brabantia.Starting with the styling which in this ‘Mineral Eternal White’ looks very smart but not in-your-face. If it were possible for a waste bin to be considered ‘classy’ in its styling, this would be that bin.The pedal mechanism is really very good, with a nice balance that doesn’t unsettled the bin itself in any way. The lid pops open nicely, but has a slower retraction to avoid the ‘clunk’ that you could get on a lesser bin. The lid is ‘odour proof’ which I can attest is so far resisting any smell-leakage that I can detect. One area of minor contention is with the official Brabantia refills, which in typical Brabantia style are quite pricey. There are 3x supplied with the bin. The bin is 30 litres in capacity so I would simply recommend finding a suitable cheaper alternative refill. Granted it might not be as neat a fit as the official ones, but it will save you money. As with all Brabantia bins, they come with a 10 year guarantee on the mechanism and prior research has shown them to be a good company to deal with in this regard. For a price of c. £77 (at time of review) I think Brabantia bins are never going to be considered cheap, but I’ve had cheap bins before and they either didn’t last, or they had shortcomings that you were just aware of but probably put up with. Go on, treat yourself.

This is a clean looking matt-steel, brushed finish it won't show fingermarks but in my experience they do get marked with spills so clean them up with a damp cloth as quickly as you can. 30L is a good size for a family - large enough to take a lot of rubbish but not so much it's smellng the kitchen out by the time you decide to empty it.I'm going to use mine for paper recycling in the office so I won't need to buy the Brabantia bags -w which alothough they are well made are a bit more expensive than standard supermarket ones.If you do use bags fit very they fit easily and neatly into the inner plastic bucket which also has a series of vents near the base which help you to get a full bag out quite easily. There is no handle on the top of the inner bucket - which would help to lift it out and also help secure the liner, but it's still OK.It's a pedal bin and the lid is damped to soft close. In my opinion the pedal mechanism feels a bit plasticky and combined with the tinny sound of the lid suggests it is not quite as high quality as the better-made soft touch bins. They are almost the same price so I guess which you go for depends on whether you like being able to open the bin with your foot when your hands are full of rubbish, or prefer to knock it with your knuckle. Personally I prefer the soft-touch bins as they look and feel better quality - but there's not much in it and I guess it comes down to personal preference. This quality bin, and comes with a 10 year warranty which is quite an amazing thing in this day and age of throw-away products - but then I guess that is exactly what this is!

This is my second Brabantia bin. The first I bought 4 years ago and features a clip/press lid. This is a foot-pedal bin.The build quality of both is great - the brushed metal looks great, but will get dirty regardless of how careful you are with your rubbish.Fortunately it wipes clean with a wet cloth. You can use a disinfectant, too if you like. The pedal mechanism opens swiftly, closes quite slowly in comparison. The inner bucket easily slides out for emptying. It comes with 3 Size G rubbish bags (with tie-tops). These fits fine, wrapping the top of the bag around the lid of the tub, before reinserting into the bin itself. In terms of styling, this model features a 'new' icon that sits to the right of the lid/mouth.Otherwise it looks pretty much the same as any range before this one. (Which isn't a problem, as I like the minimal styling).I would expect the life of this bin to be as fantastic as my previous model, which operates as good as new after 4 years and shows no sign of rusting. Not that I want to look a gift-horse in the mouth, but my only annoyance is that despite the crazy amount of packaging that covered the bin, it did arrive with a slight dent in the lid. The bin is well protected in the Brabantia box, with Amazon then inserting this into another cardboard box with padding... so it arrived extremely well packaged. I can only surmise that this happened during the original packing/transport to Amazon before it was sent to me. So, for you buyers out there: check for damage!Aside from that last issue, I would easily recommend this, albeit only if you can afford it.

This is a review of the Brabantia 12 litre pedal bin is chrome. As you'd expect from Brabantia this is a high quality bin. It's made of robust heavy duty metal with a matt finish. It's not the 'fingermark resistant' version which costs around £5 extra but it does not attract fingermarks quite as much as the polished chrome bins, and it still looks very smart. The bin come with an inner plastic bucket for easy emptying. You also get three bin liners, in size C which are for bins between 10 and 12 litres. Surprisingly as this bin is 12 litres the bin bag is a bit loose. The bin is cushioned so that the lid slowly lowers so it's silent in use. The lid fits tightly but when using a bin liner this prevents the bin from closing securely,so it won't then provide a seal preventing strong smells escaping from the bin. With a normal bin the lid would close with more force - and noise - potentially avoiding this problem. The bin has a black plastic base and a small rubber ring to prevent the bin moving around on, for example a tiled floor, or damaging a wooden floor. The bin comes with a 10 year guarantee.Brabantia suggest that this bin would look good in a kitchen or bedroom. It really is a kitchen or utility room bin. It's not the normal small pedal bin you might have in a bathroom and I think it would be a bit strange having a pedal bin in a lounge or bedroom. There's a lot to like with this bin in a suitable environment. I'm dropping one star though as it doesn't close properly when using a bin liner. But a good four stars.

If you're already familiar with other Brabantia bins or their wider product range you'll know what to expect with this model. Built from high quality, hard wearing materials, its the sort of product that will last for years. Everything about it, from the packaging to the unobtrusive but sleek design to the precision with which the mechanism operates screams quality. That is reflected in the price of course, and anyone who hasn't owned a Brabantia bin might wonder if they're worth the money. As the owner of two already and now a third courtesy of the Vine Program I can say definitively yes. I have owned both my pre-existing two bins for over eight years and they are going as strong today as they were when I bought them. They also look pretty much brand new when I get around to cleaning them up. Yes, initial outlay is high, but you're not going to new to buy another bin for a decade or more. You will need to buy bags of course, and for me this is the only weak point with Brabantia bins; the bags are stupidly expensive for what they are. Yes, they fit the bins precisely, they don't split or leak and they have tough drawstrings, but they're still not worth the five pounds-plus for forty bags you'll pay even with discounts on Amazon. Fortunately, you can use generic and far cheaper bin bags instead. Yes, they don't fit so well and tend to poke out from under the lid, but that's a relatively small sacrifice for the money you'll save.So buy the bin, its worth the investment, but avoid the bags.

Brabantia made my previous kitchen bin of the same size (30l) and this lasted from 1991 to 2013. I only changed it then because I had a new kitchen which was so small that I had to opt for the ones built into a cupboard. My old one was very gratefully received by someone via Freecycle and I suspect will still be going strong somewhere. I hope this new one will last as long and, on inspection, I have no reason to doubt that it will. The liner is plastic whereas it was metal in my last one, presumably this is cheaper to produce. I don't think this will prove a disadvantage. It makes the bin lighter but it still seems very stable. The mechanism seems of good quality and operates very pleasingly. The bin as a whole looks very good in its steel casing. The main point, which I will repeat, is the reputation of the manufacturer which is second to none. Their customer service, should anything go wrong, is superb. I have an ironing board of theirs now which has provided sterling service so far for 16 years and I can't see me ever needing to replace it. It needs a new iron rest as mine is bending alarmingly but I expect this will be straightforward to have replaced. My parents contacted them when theirs did the same thing and Brabantia replaced it without hesitation under their warranty.

As with all things Brabantia I have owned and used, this pedal bin oozes quality and is designed impeccably. Something that is designed to carry literal rubbish is not something most people would take too much time and effort over designing, but this newIcon is a really lovely item. Most bins I've had in the past, including a Brabantia one, have been of a shiny metallic finish - something that has always annoyed me in the end as they are so prone to marking, smudging and generally look tired after a few weeks use. So far this bin is still looking fresh out of the box after over a month of use.I was concerned about the plastic, especially the internal removable bin, being weak and breakable, but it is holding up well to being bashed about. My only issue so far has been bin bags. The Brabantia ones are excellent, but highly expensive. As such I bought a cheaper supermarket own-brand of bin bags in a size that is stated on the bin itself, but there proved too small. Now I'm using black sacks that are too large but do the job much better.Overall happy, though as a main kitchen bin I might have been better off with one size up.

This 12 litre model is a very high quality bin with eye-catching brushed metal looks. The pedal works very smoothly indeed and the soft closure is a welcome change from the old 'clanger' which it replaces. The inner plastic bin fits snugly with a brabantia bag inside it (some included) though if the bag isn't folded well at the top it can affect the lid closure slightly; just something to watch for. The inner bin doesn't have a folding metal handle which makes extracting it a bit more difficult but I've often found that handles can get in the way when emptying, so I'm not too bothered either way. The brushed metal look can show splashes etc so I've been wiping it down more than I normally would just to keep it looking pristine! The description mentions a carrying handle for the outer bin but I'm a bit baffled by this. There is a place to grip it behind the lid but again no metal carrying handle which is something I've had on previous bins.Apart from it's looks and the soft closure this is a no-frills bin but a bin that oozes quality. Highly recommended.

It seems almost wrong that someone should describe a waste bin as classy or stylish but Brabantia once again deliver both of these things. This is a smallish 30 liter pedal bin with dimensions of 40 x 24 x 32.5cm. The exterior of the bin is finished in a textured reflective blue grey mineral finish. The foot pedal operation feels strong but light to operate. The bin seals perfectly to contain any odour and the provided bags fit perfectly. It's made from durable corrosion resistant material, with a sturdy carry handle and protective floor ring. Add to that a 10 year guarantee. My past experience with the companies customer service has been excellent so what's not to love?Okay well this pedalbin is all of the above and a fantastic unit but as with all Brabantia products I have owned they come at a cost. The "free" liners included although perfect for the bin are quite expensive at around 16 pence per bag. The bin itself is also quite pricey. But if you want a great bin with all the positives that that entails then you won't go wrong with this one.

Brabantia certainly know how to make great bins … having everything you could want from a kitchen bin. This particular bin is a good 20L size and suitable for the average family, it comes in many different colours and sizes … I received the 20 litre size in a matt steel finish. This bin measures 46cm in height x 33cm depth (including handle etc) x 29cm in width. This bin has an inner plastic bin which fits well and easily removed and replaced. It also has vents at the bottom of this inner bin to help with the removal (reduces suction). These Brabantia bins have some super features, namely …• An odour proof soft close lid … which really works well at preventing stale food smells.• A non sliprubber ring on its base … great for tiled floors.• A very quiet pedal action.• The bin comes with a sample pack of Brabantia bin liners … these fit really well and don't easily rip like some other cheaper liners do.I really like this bin, it looks stylish and would suit any kitchen décor. It also comes with a ten year guarantee which can't be bad.

This is not a bad bin, but it is a lot bigger than I expected. I wanted to put this into my bathroom but it seems to be a little too big for that job, it comes somewhere in between a small bathroom pedal bin and a larger kitchen bin. It has a fabulous soft close so no clanging bin lids here. I did find it tricky to get the bin bag to fit into the bin without it hanging over the top of the bin and looking ugly. I like that it comes with 3 bin bags and that it tells you what size you will need to buy in future on a small label inside the bin. I also enjoyed the funny message on the bin bags, I wonder if they remain the same or are there different ones for different sizes?I will continue to use this in my bathroom as I think it does suit it well in every aspect apart from size, it's wipe clean and looks stylish, plus it doesn't involve having to touch the bin to put anything into it. I'm just a little worried that I won't fill the expensive bin bags as fast as I should and I would hate to waste them.

First of all I should note that the bin I initially received had a two inch scratch right across the middle of the lid. Rather astonished that this got past quality control, but anyway I contacted Brabantia customer service, and despite the fact that I hadn't actually paid for this item they supplied me a replacement. So full marks to Brabantia for their customer serviceThis is quite a stylish bin with a slightly textured surface with a sheen. I like the smooth operation of the lid with the pedal - it rises quickly but without 'clanging' like pedal bins often do, and it has a slow close function so that it also closes relatively noiselessly. All very impressive. The inner cylinder is easy to remove too - sometimes on these kind of bins they can be a bit tight and hard to get out because of the vacuum effect, but not here. The Brabantia liners (pack of three included) can be turned over the lip of the inner cylinder fairly easily without them hanging out from under the lid. Full marks all round.
