If your looking for a e-book reader, this little device is all you need. Compared to reading things on a computer or tablet computer, this is much less tiring for your eyes. I red 5 hours per day on it for about 10 days and my eyes didn't feel tired att all (I made the text quite big). It's light weight makes it really easy readable at any place, may it be the couch, bed or lying on a towel in the park. I'm used to read really fat books and that was always a problem. Its perfectly readable on the sun and I'm taking it with me now to Greece. There is a mild reflection under a certain angle from direct sun light, but all you need to do is move it a bit.The price is well worth it and I think this is my buy of the year (although the year is not over :)My only critique would be that Barnes&Nobles would give us google play, as it runs a custom android 2.2 version, so we could get some apps, mainly for pdf reading and buying books from other publishers and sellers (I live in Sweden, so I'd like to read some swedish books). I know all I need to do is get it on my computer and transfer it, but I would prefer a more direct way. Also, I don't want to root it, cause the videos I saw from people who rooted it and used different apps on it were blinking so heavily that I tought I'll get an epileptic attack...Other than that the only thing I miss is the smell of the printed books :)I'm very happy with my e-bok reader and I recommend it to anyone enjoying reading.

With a low budget, I wasn't expecting the NOOK to be incredibly impressive. I've never really liked the look of eBook readers because of the screen flickering, however I'm glad that the NOOK doesn't really flicker when reading the book itself. The screen responds slower than I'd like, and I'd like an option to turn off the touch screen, or at least touch screen page navigation. It's fairly annoying when I get distracted in the middle of reading, and my hand slips on the NOOK/something else comes into contact with it, and I'm suddenly 10 pages ahead. I've gotten used to it though... It's definitely less annoying than losing a page in a real book. The features I do love, however, include: Text size/spacing customisation, putting books into shelves, minimal flickering, wifi connection, not locked specifically to Barnes & Noble (you can pretty much just put a pdf on here and it'll read it). I don't really know whether these are specific to the NOOK because I have next to no experience using eBook readers.I was expecting this to not be amazing, so this is great for its value. I've been using this regularly and I definitely don't regret my purchase!

I am delighted with this little gadget.I stare at computer screen all day so an ereader is a more comfortable way to read in the evening. I've never owned a kindle but I've handled them before and to my mind this product is much better. The wider rubbery flange around the screen is actually perfect for easy grip.I am was also pleasantly surprised with how it handles PDFs. It will reflow the text to a size of your choosing. The smallest text size will reveal the full page in its original format albeit it might be too small to read that like. There is no zoom function for PDFs, but all in all I am very pleased with the PDF function.PDF function and a mini SD slot give this product the edge over the kindle. It would seem the nook store has a bit less choice than the kindle store, but with the option of pdfs there will always be something to read on my nook. And look out for the £29 offer, what a bargain. There is a bit of a craze for "rooting" these nooks, whereby you hack the device so that is runs android. I've been tempted to try it but right now I'm very pleased with what it does off the shelf.

Easy to use. Easy to carry. Bring it anywhere. Loved the ability to adjust the text and font size. If only I knew other NOOK users so I could also use the "Lend Me" feature. But in the Republic of Ireland, there are relatively few NOOK users because Barneds & Noble will not sell to us without a UK address and credit card. So almost all of the NOOK users in Ireland are using their machines for borrowing from their local libraries. Please, Barnes & Noble, expand your sales business to include Republic of Ireland. Our Visa and Master cards are as good as anyone else's.

A lovely simple e-reader, which is great value for money. Bought it to replace my sony one which has finally died. I bought it partly because it's not got a shiny screen (tablets/kindles not as good to read in the sun) and this works great; but also bought it as it's compatible with the e-pub format, which my sony one used. However, whilst I can load the books I can't read them, saying 'user not authorised' if this could be fixed (or someone can tell me how to do it) then I would give it 5 stars!

I am a techno-phobe!But this product is VERY simple to use & start up. Clear simple instructions, even easier than my smartphone!I bought as a last minute holiday purchase as I was trying to lower my suitcase KG allowance.100% recommended to take instead of the heavy 3/4 books as per normal. It's lightweight so people with any wrist/arm problems this won't cause you any pain.Downloading is easy too - straight onto the NOOK website, it's plain sailing, you really can't go wrong.

Bought it as a present for my 16 y.o. brother and he's loving it. I myself have a Kobo Mini but I like this one better because the screen size is bigger and because of the physical page turning buttons. Had no problems whatsoever with registering it even though the latter was not performed in the U.S. No problems with side-loaded books either. Ordered through Eurotronics and the package arrived just in time for my brother's birthday so I am extremely satisfied.

I bought the nook a couple of days ago from blackwell for 31 pounds with vat and shipping, I think it is brilliant for what I want it for don't need all the social networks I have got my iPad for that. The nook library is big enough, I used to have the kindle fire what a load of crap you could not do anything with it out side the glare was to much I gave it away in the end I am a happy bunny with the nook simple touch.

Great device, super long batery time oif wifi is shut off (you don't need it if you're not constantly buying books or magazines.)The screen is perfectly sized to suit your reading needs, as you can edit the font and size of the font on the device as needed.Would highly recommend this device to anyone that is looking for a cheap alternative to a kindle or other pricier device as this performs just as well.

I frequently attend various hospital clinics. For a while now I have been carrying a rather thick book. Since buying my NOOK I no longer have the need to carry such books. Life is simpler and more enjoyable. This item is so easy to use and it could not be simpler to download books onto it.The supplier of this item posted it almost immediately he received the order and I received it within 24 hours!

This is a lovely cheap version of the kindle. Brilliant to use but I find the range of books isn't large as the only books with are available are ones from America. It isn't the range from the UK so all books are not available to purchase. I have spoken with the help site on the internet and they will be making more books available but do not know when this will be. Stick to the kindle

I have a kindle e reader and bought a nook when it was on offer as I wanted to download e books from the library which I couldn't do on kindle but can now download through a laptop and transfer to my nook. It's paid for itself already as our library has a large range of e books to download for four weeks for free.Added bonus I prefer size and weight of the nook and simplicity to use.

Clear, simple with a reasonable battery (as long as you disable Wi-Fi).No too impressed with the difficulties encountered when the battery depletes completely so, BE WARNED, do not allow your Nook's battery to fully discharge. Ensure you turn it off completely. My particular vendor hid the fact that my Nook came with a limited warranty so ask the question beforehand.

What a great little thing! After a loooong search and lots of meditating on the subject i decided that i dont necessarily want my book to GLOW in dark! Its even bad for the eyes, i think.. So i went for this one, came with a cover that feels great on touch, and I am very pleased with it. Would def recommend this one as an eBook reader.

5* for e-ink, 5* for battery life, 5* for price, 5* for open formats, 5* for rootability. To gain more battery life and diskspace, I removed most Nook apps/services except the reader, which I think is the best ereader. I can read all sorts of ebook formats without restrictions, unlike the Kindle devices. I also installed Kindle app.
