6 months ago, I was scared of even going to the swimming baths. I had a real fear of pools, but was forced to go to lessons after a bet with my mum (New Years resolutions!). It had been 8 years since my last swimming lesson. Now, I actually feel more comfortable under the water than the world on top of it - and that was just 6 lessons in!We used various aids in our classes to boost our confidence. One of them were these Zoggs Sinkers (as I prefer to call them), that come in packs of four. Soon enough, after plucking up the courage to go under water, I now can't wait to go back to the pool and swim around trying to pick up these sticks! They are much better than bricks in that when thrown in the water, they sink Vertically, meaning you can get a handle grip of them. The are a nice size, brightly coloured, and very well made. What we've started doing at the end of our lessons is getting more adventurous and throwing them towards the deep end, on the other side of a lane. This encourages us to swim a little further down, and navigate across the lane above us.I now have no fear in going to the deep end, just dropping down, and seeing how many I can get. Though for confidence building, it would be better to stay in shallower waters, as the pressure on your lungs 2 metres down will shorten your depth.Even away from building your confidence up they act as a great game to see who can pick up the most! I can't recommend them highly enough. I'd definitely buy these Zoggs rather than cheap copies because of the quality. Though as I've found, this time of year when are the baths quiet? Grrrrrr....

Update 27/09/15: I can't believe I first wrote this review 6.5 years ago! (19/01/09) Well, my kids are now 17, 11 and 5 (a new addition since the last review!) and these sticks are as popular as ever. We always take them to the pool and they are always used. I've had to buy about 5 packs now of them as whenever we go on holiday my kids invariably get friendly with local children and we end up giving the sticks away as presents as the children love them so much. We still have two of the originals and they are still going strong. Well made and great fun. Buy!-------------------------------------------------------Original review back in 2009 (and still valid!) :I have two boys aged 10 and 4 and they both love these Dive Sticks.Whenever we go to the pool or on holiday we make sure we take a couple of sticks with us to keep them entertained - it has to be two and not one otherwise they start fighting over it! My boys have swum from a very early age and these sticks are great for improving underwater swimming and confidence. The sticks are soft with a seal's head at the top and feet at the bottom. Just throw them in the water, they sink and stand on the bottom of the pool just begging to be retrieved. They are brightly coloured and so are easy to spot underwater. They are quite sturdy too - ours have been thrown around and squashed in bags but are still fine.Good fun and well worth the money.

Once again Zoggs have taken a traditional teaching aid and successfully modernised it. When trying to develop underwater confidence Dive sticks are always a popular choice. Their bright colours allow them to stand out, allowing children to easily see where in they are without putting their face in straight away. This in itself means children can work up to disappearing underwater in their own time. However, being made from plastic meant the original sticks were prone to breaking if repeatedly dropped on poolside, and the sand used to give the sticks weight made them heavy for little children to carry. Zoggs have developed the sticks so that they don't appear to weigh very much, but still remain submerged once dropped in the water. Furthermore, as with Zoggs new Seal Flips, the additional of a 'character head' to each sticks makes them even more popular with swimmers of all ages and abilities.Zoggs may have only made slight alterations to the traditional dive sticks but these changes have certainly helped to make developing confidence in the water even more fun for children. I would definitely recommend this project to any parent or swimming teaching who is try to help swimmers take that first step towards disappearing under water.

These are fun dive sticks, which are bright, colourful and easy to see. The idea is to drop these into the pool, then allow your child to collect them and, on the product page, there is a short video of game/activity ideas for you to try with them.On the plus side, these are simple to use. They encourage children to dive underneath the water and were useful in encouraging my young niece to put her face in the water, which she disliked doing. On the minus side, a little mesh storage bag, or something similar, would have been nice. Also, if you use them for a while, they tend to topple over and are then harder for children to grab.Saying that, these are really simple to use and do help children gain confidence in the water. If your child dislikes diving, or putting their face in the water, this is a fun way to encourage them.

These are such a great aid for swimming, and have made going to the pool all the more fun for my 4 1/2 year old. We had been going to the play sessions at our local swimming pool, which whilst fun, were very crowded. We got these so that we could go to the 'Everybody Welcome' sessions instead, but she'd still have a toy to play with. Please be aware that these sink to the bottom, and sometimes they will stand, other times they will fall to their side. You'll need to have a confident swimmer, or at least a child that likes to go underwater, just be sure to watch them while they play, as a couple of times my daughter tried a little too hard to grab them, and nearly swallowed a lot of water!!!Great fun,but will still need your supervision. Get floating toys of your child doesn't like going underwater yet!

Bought these for my kid who's constantly trying to steal them off other kids in the pool so I know he'll like them before I even use them. They're a very simple product so only so much you can say really. Designed to sit on the bottom of the pool, sticking up vertically to enable young swimmers to dive down and grab them. They obviously look attractive to a kid judging by my boy's behavior. He's actually been pretending to swim for them on the lounge variety already.Knocking a star off for poor manufacture. One of them has a split in the base which may eventually lead to the weight coming out; another looks like it has already been repaired with whitish glue. Not big issues but not perfect either. If you found this review helpful, please click below, thanks!

We have 2 sets of these - one that we keep at our home abroad and one at home for other trips. Both sets are well used and still firm favourites for time in the water. When the children were very small, the sticks were used to encourage them to dive down under the water and then to see how many they could pick up in one breath. They were great for building their confidence in the water. Now, as teenagers, they set each other targets by throwing them in for each other to see who finds theirs and comes up first. Funnily enough, grandparents have been known to like this game too and don't always play fair! You can't lose with these - no batteries, lightweight and easy to pack and a great tool for making friends on holiday!

My kids love these. I got the set after watching them being used during one of their swimming lessons. They are weighted at one end which means they stand upright on the bottom of the pool. They are easy to grab and easy to spot in their bright colours. We started very shallow and gradually got deeper. At first they just had reach down while keeping their heads out of the water. They helped encourage my children to put their faces in the water too look through their goggles to find them. This lead to them now being able to duck down completly to retrive them.Loads of great game ideas but I just love the confidence boost it gave to my two. It was fun why to push their boundries.Well worth it.

Got a flat? Crave the fun of having a dog and not sure how to sort this? Got a child that isn't confident in the deep end of swimming pools? Sort them both in one fell swoop. This ingenious little hollow stick will allow you to play fetch with your child. Throw it in the swimming pool and instruct him or her to fetch it back for you. The bright colours stand out at the base of the pool so with good goggles, the child never has an issue retrieving it.They'll get more confident with their underwater swimming, and you'll have scratched the dog-owning itch ;)ps - don't recommend they actually capture it in their mouths, the child is disagreeable to this (and it would be highly irresponsible!)

These sticks are brilliant for any child wanting to gain more water confidence and for any adult trying to promote it.My 3 year old loves them can be used in shallow and deep water or even in the bath (if the child doesn't like putting their face in the water) They are colourful and come in a neat bag (just make sure you remember to empty all the water out of them before putting back in the bag!)Have made a real impact on his water confidence without a doubt, one of the best toys out there as we normally end up having all the children in the swimming pool wanting to play with us.Very glad we brought them and have to come on any holiday as well as every swimming pool visit.

I bought these last year having seen a few kids playing with them at my club. Essentially, they are weighted rubber sticks that stand on their own feet in water. Nice and bright and well made, they are really good fun when swimming. Throw them in the pool for your child(ren) and they sink slowly and vertically to the bottom for your child to retrieve. As they stand upright on the bottom of the pool they are pretty easy to grab and all four fit into smallish hands ok. They come in their own plastic case to keep them tidy in your bag too.The simple ideas are often the best and these are a great way to boost your kid's water confidence and fitness while having fun.

I ordered this product for my kids as I started teaching my two girls age 7 and 4 to hold their breath under water and dive with this fun game. This fun pool game involves throwing the Zoggy character sticks into the water where they will sink to the bottom and then diving underwater to retrieve them. This simply search and find game will gives hours of entertainment and will encourage and build up their confidence in the water. The 4 Zoggy dive sticks come in a variety of colours and are soft and flexible. I am very pleased with the product and recommend this fun toy to parents who loves swimming with their children. Good Purchase! Happy Shopper!

I bought these seal dive sticks for my 7 year old twins, who spend more time underwater than above it. We tested them at our local pool yesterday and they're BRILLIANT. Exactly what we needed... they sink to the bottom of the pool, drain quickly (and, much to their amusement, the water coming out looks like the seals are weeing!) They're colourful, robust and even come with a handy storage bag. Seal sticks are a talking point and great way to make friends at the pool too - provided you don't clunk someone on the head when throwing them! Brilliant product - can't fault 'em!

A great swimming game for kids and adults, I looked specifically for these sticks after seeing a family on holiday using them as I knew they were good quality. My son has just started to gain more confidence in the water after learning to swim without armbands and is now itching to show me how he can swim underwater, these dive sticks are a perfect way to make his underwater swimming all the more fun and add an element of play into it.Great build quality, constructed of a rubber / soft plastic, would recommend to any family who loves spending time at the pool.

You won't look back, buy them now.....it changed my sons whole swimming experience and he went from an ok stage 3 swimmer to stage 6 in half a year after our 10day holiday- and it was mostly down to these beauties. He would dive for hours with them.. like a dog, he'd swim them back to me, close his eyes and I'd throw them in and off he'd go.....Gave him so much confidence. We've had them nearly 2 years now, and they still look great and work perfectly, and I'm sure once we'd finish with them, they'd fetch good resale value! A great investment
