PoppyThis is surprisingly sophisticated scent coming from the old British favourite Yardley. I've used Yardley scents for most of my life and I've normally found that they are quite traditional florals that smell good, fresh and light. This is different. This contains quite a complex mix of florals but with spicy undertones. At first I wasn't sure because the mix is so complex is hard for your nose to detect all the elements within it, but after it has had time to settle it's actually a really gorgeous sent that is perfect for evening. It's quite an original scent, and I can't think of a single fragrance that I can liken it to. It's complex and sophisticated and probably suited to somebody that enjoys Givenchy,Guerlain and similar. It could be described as an Oriental but with softer floral notes after settling. Considering the complexity of this fragrance I think it's actually really good value.Although Yardley may have bit of a reputation for an old ladies perfumes, this definitely does not fit into that category! This is a perfume that is sassy and with attitude!Flora Jade.Oh wow! ... this smells absolutely amazing! This smells exactly like Chanel Cristal! I am so happy because I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to Cristal 4 years and I have never found anything like it ever. I can barely tell the difference between this and my genuine bottle of Chanel! This fragrance is light sharp and citrusy it's an elegant chypre, with bergamot, peach and galbarium, blended with Rose ylang ylang and orris. it's young and fresh and so gorgeous! At the moment this is very cheap to so if you are a lover of citrusy gin and tonic type fragrances then definitely stock up!!!! This review is for Flora Jade but the sister fragrance called Jade is just as lovely.Yardley seem to have created a new range of really exciting fragrances and I no longer scents for old ladies. I will definitely be keeping an eye on their forthcoming new launches.Fabulous! and I couldn't be happier with my selection!

My wife tried this one, and was very pleased with it. I liked the fragrance too – a pleasant floral scent, strong enough to notice (for someone like me who hasn’t a particularly good sense of smell) but not too strong. Her assessment was as follows:“I love Yardley products and this is no exception.Yardley always had this image of something that you gave to your aging aunt or grandmother on special occasions, and they always welcomed it with open arms, but the choice was limited and the fragrance did not really last very long at all. Personally I still adore the April Violets perfume, and I have a few stockpiled in my cupboard.I don’t think this one is aimed at elderly relatives,it’s more for the middle-aged (it won’t appeal to the young market). I am not sure which season this is best for – probably spring and summer, but with the deeper musky bottom notes I suppose it would be OK for any time of year. When you first apply it the aroma is floral, as you would expect, and quite strong, but after a while it fades to something more lasting – a woody, earthy fragrance, though still balanced by the flowery top notes.Obviously everyone has a different skin reaction to a particular perfume, and whether you like it is totally down to you skins reaction to it, your own preferences and how much you apply and where. The bottle is lovely and the actual liquid in the bottle is a very, very pale pink. The push-on cap is rectangular, which means it is easily removed and the lid is not too tight, so if stored in your bag it may come loose.A beautiful fragrance and reasonable value as you get a lot in the bottle and you don't need much to smell wonderful. A welcome addition to the Yardley family of fragrances.”

I am no perfume snob and have no idea what is nice and what is not. It is more the case of what type of smell you like and whether it suits you and in some cases matches your natural pong! I am told that Yardley has somewhat of an old fashioned reputation and perhaps from the flower dominate 'Rosie Ruby' I can see this as it does lean towards a traditional base. However, I cannot see this as a bad thing. The scent used is not chemically like an air spray or drawer liner and is certainly a perfume. The initial application is quite strong and you do get a smell of roses mixed with other elements I cannot place, but after a little while it fades. I would suggest trying a little bit first before adding too much as a little goes a long way.As a subtle scent I found that it is actually a pretty timeless smell and your skin will be floral without hinting at any age group. At the price point this is a very good value perfume and that alone will be enough to put some people off, but if you would like a more timeless scent that does not have too much of a modern edge to it, this certainly fits the bill and leaves you smelling of rose. The bottle is small, but even as an Eau de Toilette I would not apply too much at a time, so it will last a while. At this it is very good value. The alternative 'Poppy Diamond' also provides a nice scent for a great price. It is once again a fragrance that has a slightly old fashioned tone to it, but is still very nice. There is a floral essence to it, but there is more earth involved here. It would suit a night out to the theatre as it is not over powering and smells more sophisticated than some of the candy toned perfumes that you can buy.

I'll be honest and admit that from the Yardley brand I'd expected an old-fashioned fragrance that was big, blousy and very floral and aimed at the more mature woman (and her mother) but that isn't what this Lilac Amethyst EDT delivers. It comes nicely boxed and wrapped in thick cellophane, belying the affordable price, and the cut-glass bottle is classic-looking without being too old-fashioned. The fragrance is not overpowering but actually quite subtle and light and although it's very floral it's more like fresh-cut flowers than dried rose petals. It's even nicer when the more astringent top-notes fade and you're left with a woody and floral scent still with a citrus freshness to it.It seems to last quite well on clothing but fades quicker on the skin so maybe the warmth makes it fade away quicker.I don't think it's a fragrance particularly aimed at younger women or teens but it's a classic fragrance rather than an old-fashioned one and is subtle enough to have a wide appeal. There's nothing very characteristic about it either, I doubt many people would instantly recognise it, but sometimes you don't want a fragrance that overbearing. The value seems very good, it's nicely presented and looks more expensive than it is. The fragrance is very pleasant but lacks the distinctiveness of the more expensive brands but it's also likely to appeal to more people and so would make a really nice gift.

Now I have to say when I think of Yardley, I think of Tweed and adverts from my youth some 40 years ago. I don't recall even seen any television adverts for Yardley in recent years and have to say had pretty much forgotten they existed - so I was somewhat pleasantly surprised to receive this product to try.First up the box was fresh and modern looking which a nice design and packaging that left me wanting to find out what was inside. The glass bottle was a modern and fresh looking design that looked nothing like the bottles I remember as a child- so more full marks then. Then on to the fragrance itself- -at heart the notable notes of lily of the valley and peony were fresh and light and a quick spritz of this would be uplifting and light. My 12 year old daughter like the scent and whilst it was not a my personal favourite family of fragrance I would wear it- particularly on a hot summers day as it would feel like a fresh and uplifting scent. Overall I was very impressed, they have clearly kept up to date- perhaps their marketing department need to do-as I clearly had no idea they were still making perfumes- and as a mId 40'S female I wonder if I am their demographic or not- either way- worth having a look at how much they have updated their collections and designs. Well done Yardley.

Being nearly sixty I know what perfumes I like and usually stick to the same four. All of them are floral, light ones for the days and heavier perfumes for evening wear. My teenage daughter is always nagging me to try some of the newer more modern scents that are on the market, so when I was given the opportunity to try this 'Poppy Diamond' Eau De Toilette from Yardley London I thought I would give it a try and I am quite glad. It especially appealed to me as it was advertised to have an uplifting floral bouquet ... and I love floral. This elegant fragrance comes in an attractive 50ml bottle and comes packaged in an equally attractive box. It is an atomiser which releases just the right amount of perfume at a time. This perfume is noticeably floral (think roses and lily of the valley) in smell with an underlying fruitiness (which I assume comes from the bergamot), it also has a honeyed sweetness which is not overpowering. I really like the scent, it is a very fresh and light fragrance, a definite daytime wear. It would make someone a lovely gift and would suit any age group.

What is there not to like about this pretty sweet Eau De Toilette by Yardley of London, it's dewy fresh green and floral scents are so sweet and not overpowering just like stepping out of the bath.It as taken me back years to the age of 13/14 my very first perfume was Yardley Caprice and this one Daisy Sapphire just reminds of it, it's awesome.Very classy bottle and cap and arrived in a sealed box.Always a soft spot for Yardley and this would suit anyone fromyoung to older( I'm 62 ) although I think it's a lovely day time perfume it's quite suitable for both day and night. At this price of just under sixteen pounds of writing this review it surely must be an Amazon choice, such a perfect gift for Christmas ,I'm so thrilled to have been lucky to have found this the most sweet of the sweetest perfumes.Review rated and written for Yardley of London Daisy Sapphire Collection Eau De Toilette 50ml which I'm very happy to recommend.

My first thought when I saw this perfume was that it's Yardley and I have to confess that I had a view of it being an old-fashioned brand. I wanted to challenge that and give it a go to see what it actually smells like. I have to confess that when I first sprayed it I wasn't all that keen on the scent. Perfume is so subjective, what one person likes the next may not, and even if you like the smell, it may not smell great on your particular skin.I think it's fair to say that lilac amethyst isn't perhaps a scent that I would choose again, but I must admit that it smells pleasant on me, it's not overpowering at all and it's quite a light fragrance. I put it on 2-3 hours ago and I can still smell it on my arm,but I don't think it's one of those perfumes that lingers so much it seems as though the wearer has bathed in it.All in all, for the price I think it's a really nice product with a light floral fragrance.

I have never really been a big user of Yardley perfumes, but I have to say this Flora Jade eau de toilette came as a pleasant surprise. It comes in a lovely art deco style glass bottle which fits into a tasteful green box gift box. The fragrance itself is light and delicate with distinct floral notes with rose and patchouli predominating alondside a more fruity peach element with a hint of a bergamot giving a slight Earl Grey like hint to the bouquet.Being an eau de toilette and being a lighter fragrance means this is one that will need to be regularly refreshed, but at the current price point this represents very good value and offers a scent which will appeal to mature women and indeed anyonewho appreciates a little subtlety in their cosmetics.

This is a review for a second Yardley fragrance, flora jade. It comes in an elegant art deck style bottle. The edt is palest green, resembling the floral waters that Yardley were once so famous for. However, this is a modern confection, apparently ninety per cent natural ingredients in a vegetable derived alcohol base. The base notes are patchouli, sandalwood and moss. The first two are evident, but it's the greenness of the moss that carries through. Middle notes are a predictable mix of rose, Jasmine and ylang ylang, with orris to fix them. If the top notes, galbanum and bergamot sparkle but the peach is a tad too sweet. It's a refined edt that has a faint echo of chanels cristalle, but in a much weaker format. However it's good value for money.

This is a lovely subtle fragrance, with it being an EDT it’s less overpowering than a Eau de parfum which is perfect for every day wear and for those who want to smell nice but don’t like strong scents. I tried Flora Jade which is both fruity and floral, it has notes of Peach and Ylang Ylang and is very feminine and for £8 it’s an affordable scent to wear at any time. This is a very traditional brand, one that’s been around seemingly forever! My Nan is a big Yardley fan and I always associate it with her and thought when trying the scent it would be too old fashioned for me but it’s really just a lovely subtle fragrance that leaves you smelling pleasant without being overwhelming.Amazing value and gorgeous to wear, recommended!

I'm always interested in trying new perfumes and Yardley has a long history of producing affordable scents for reasonable prices. The Rosie Ruby eau de toilette has a strong and pleasant smell of roses and lily of the valley and the vanilla and sandalwood gives it a warm quality. The bottle is a pleasant shape although the stopper is a bit chunky and plasticky and the perfume is a pleasant pink colour. What did surprise me about the perfume is how long it lasted on my skin. Usually eu de toilette fades quite quickly but this lasted for hours and I found that the smell mellowed a lot over the day and still smelled pleasant. All in all I think this is a good value product that smells perfectlynice and I would buy it in future.

Yardley's previous audience has always been assumed to be older women but these new perfumes are aiming at a slightly younger audience, doing away with the lavender style. The Poppy Diamond scent is a mix of floral, citrus and spice and conjures images of mysterious far eastern places. The interestingly shaped crystal bottle looks premium and even the crystal-like design on the box looks more modern than their past efforts. The Eau De Toilette isn't too strong and requires a few sprays to get a scent that will stay, but this still fades over time. It's something that you could put on just before going out and would last a few hours without over-powering other scents but just don't expect it tolast all day.

This is a lovely budget fragrance from Yardley. It is much cheaper than some of the other name brands, but is quite lovely, with a delicate feminine floral scent, that would appeal to a more mature woman. The perfume comes in a stylish bottle and has a light lilac colour to the perfume. The top notes have a blend of fruity aromas of pear and lemon, with bergamot and basil. Heart notes are also fruit based, with a blend of peach and fig, with black pepper and heliotrope (which also gives it it's lilac colour). This is all complemented by base notes of woody and spicy amber. For the price, which is currently below £13, it is a bargain and would make a lovely Christmas,Secret Santa or stocking filler gift.

This is a lovely scent for the warmer weather, not as floral as I expected at all. I was half-set to use this as room freshener, but what a waste that would be It's a warm, musky, just slightly floral scent, a floral scent for people who don't like overwhelmingly sweet perfumes. The elongated octagonal glass bottle is visually attractive, with the perfume having the faintest green tint. For an eau de toilette the scent is long lasting, I was really pleasantly surprised. Applied to pulse points at the start of the evening, I could still smell it on my wrists hours later. It won't overwhelm you when applied, it's suitable for daytime, but the hint of musk and warmth makes it a decent evening perfume too,
