…which may be stating the obvious, but the main box pictures could suggest otherwise, IMO.? ‘One pan bakes more than 39 cake shapes:~ LETTERS : A-Z~ NUMERALS : 0-9~ an EXCLAMATION MARK~ a QUESTION MARK~ a DOLLAR SIGN...plus personalised shapes you design like robots, animals and icons...'…by following the instructions & pictures in the enclosed multi-lingual template leaflet.A few things worth noting before starting, the first of which is not in the current product detail or on the box:? ‘Spray pan and all inserts being used with non-stick cooking spray.’Lacking such, I tried simply greasing mine and the first run was not that great on the turn out, so to speak! (If the baking tin is lined with paper, you lose the grid effect on the bottom for the inserts & the grid imprint that acts as a guide to trimming away any surplus cake not required for the shape chosen).? ‘Note that the letter or number chosen will appear backwards in the pan.’Also, measuring around 37.75 cm x 23.75 cm x 5 cm deep, it is quite a large baking tin, so I had to modify my usual favourite sponge mix to get a thick enough cake (instructions suggest ⅔ full), despite the areas blanked off by the inserts for the chosen letter. Then I didn’t have a wire rack big enough to turn the cake out onto.It is not all negative…the first cake was still well received in respect of the novelty factor. Albeit a bit rough around the edges, once covered in a gooey chocolate topping (prior to the final decoration; 2nd to last image below refers), the young recipient was none the wiser and absolutely over the moon with the unique & special cake that was much commented on at the party later on.ooOoo✤ WILTON✤ COUNTLESS CELEBRATIONS NUMBERS & LETTERS CAKE TIN SET (aka NUMBERS & LETTERS CAKE TIN)~ 10-YEAR WARRANTY (Limited)‘Made in China’ooOooThe set comes in a colourful cardboard box measuring around 38.5 cm x 24 cm x 6 cm and is simply packed in a single plastic-type bag inside, with the detailed 4-page INSTRUCTION GUIDE that includes the letter, number & 3 shape templates previously mentioned. The items in the box are:~ 1 x BAKING TRAY~ 8 x INSERTS~ 1 x CAKE TRIMMERGUIDE TO COOKING TIME:? ‘Follow your cake recipe for baking temperature. Average baking time for each pan design is 26-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.’The product states ‘DISHWASHER SAFE’, but both box and leaflet state that hand washing is recommended, along with:? ‘Avoid using metal utensils, abrasive cleaners or scouring pads’.When not in use, the inserts & cutting tool all sit neatly inside the baking tin, ready for the next bake.[16 images attached]

This cake tin is a clever idea that's well executed and does allow you to make great big letters and number cakes relatively easily, although there are a few things worth considering before you start. First, learn to abbreviate! Partly because unless you buy multiple tins you'll be baking one letter at a time but also because this is a sizeable tin that makes a cake big enough to give everyone at an average kids' party a slice. So creating a long name is going to take some time and leave you with a lot of cake. The tin itself is a good size and depth and feels sturdy and rigid. The inserts that you arrange to create each letter are actually blanks that create the empty space around each letter, you then pour your cake mix into the middle. There's an indented grid pattern on the base of the tin to help keep each insert in place but they're not fixed so you need a little care when pouring thicker batters. Of course you'll need a slightly thick batter to ensure it stays within the letter-shaped hole and doesn't leak under any of the inserts. Some guidance about recipes or quantities would have been helpful but none is included. You usually bake each letter upside-down so when you flip the cake out that indented grid pattern will be slightly visible on top of your cake and will probably need clever trimming or icing over. You will also need to prepare the tin with a non-stick spray or liner or old-school butter and flour to make sure you get your cake out cleanly. When your cake is done and out of the tin you may need to trim it to make the best letter shapes and the triangular insert supplied with the kit is actually used as a knife to trim the angled sections of some letter. There's a handy guide to making every letter and number which shows how to arrange the inserts in the tin and how to trim the finished cake, if necessary. The tin doesn't do all the work for you but it does make it much easier to create impressive-looking letter-cakes and minimises wastage. Making a whole name could be quite a task, think of all the icing you're going to need, but would look incredibly impressive. Even if you just want to bake a single number cake for a child's birthday it's still a fun thing to have and use and takes your birthday bakes to another level.

I am giving 5 stars, but have to return as it is just not feasible for me as it's just too big! Shame it's not a useable size, I wouldn't be able to use it regularly enough to justify the cost. Wish I could. It is very big, I was so excited to use this, as wanted to make a number cake without faffing about with 'templates', first try review- too much cake waste as wasn't sure on how much batter to use. I used my recipe for 2 round 9 inch cakes - twice, as wanted 2 layers- Finished cake is massive, Number 16 cake trimmed & trimmed again to fit the board & box I bought on Amazon. Once cake was on the board, could not fit cake in my American style fridge,as you would whilst crumb coating etc.I'm a Homebaker/Hobby Baker but don't like things complicated. Bought this as wanted to try number/letter cakes. Initially on inspection I wanted to return. However, decided to try it out first so I could give an 'all round' review.Prime delivery excellent. The tin itself is well made as you would expect from Wilton. The inserts however, very thin and very easily bent out of shape with very sharp edges. Instructions are easy on how to use the inserts. You as the baker will need to work out amount of batter needed. Don't expect Inserts to sit 'tight' in the grooves, I was worried my batter which was a wet mixture, would run- it didn't. First time using this tin, I greased and lined the entire base, greased the inserts too. Left cake to cool in tin before turning out onto another piece of greaseproof paper which aids moving the cake around. I was a bit heavy handed with the cutting edge as instructed to define the numbers. Will know for next time. I have bought 2, because if making double numbers you need 2! No need to buy individual moulds.Would I recommend- Yes, but be aware final cake is massive!

The set consists of a rectangular tray and several inserts which allow you to create different letters, numbers and symbols. It also comes with a sheet of instructions and diagrams to show you how to insert the blocks into the tray and trim the finished cake to make the letters - make sure you don't lose this, perhaps take a copy of it before it gets covered in cake batter. On receiving it I was disappointed that the large rectangular insert was quite dented, luckily the metal is quite soft so I was able to bend it back into shape. My daughter and I had a go at making the letter "G" in Victoria Sponge, it was great fun and I don't think the end results are too bad.We did have a little of the mixture leak under the inserts but it didn't affect the final result. We did only do a 4-egg sponge so it wasn't as deep as it should be. That is probably my major niggle with the set - there is no information on the amount of mixture needed for the different size letters and numbers - you're learning by trial and error. The next time we use it, I'm going to do a 6-egg sponge for the larger letters. The G cake when finished measured approximately 35 cm by 21 cm so if you're intending to store the cake without cutting it, you'll need quite a large cake tin. (Because our sponge ended up being thinner than it should have been, we folded it in half and jammed the bits that met and butter iced the top. )Although the instructions say that the tin and inserts can be put in the dishwasher we washed them by hand, as I think this prolongs their working life.Overall - this was a fun set to use. Good present for anyone who does a lot of baking, or if you're baking with children. My daughter is determined that we will make the entire alphabet out of cake.

This is a brilliant idea and can save a fortune as a full set of letter cake tins cost £50+, and with this one set you can also make numbers! It is very simple to use, the main oblong baking tin has a grid pattern imprinted on the base, and you just choose the inserts needed and pop them into place - the grid holds them and stops cake batter seeping into the spaces. The resulting cake is "blocky" with no curves, so if you wish, you can trim the edges to make it curvier, but I think they look good as they are. The pieces are dishwasher safe, but because they are quite thin, and to preserve the nonstick coating, I hand wash them. The set comes with a booklet which gives pictorial instructions for every letter and number so it's completely foolproof!Be aware that you create the letter/number cake in reverse, as it will turn bottom side up when tipped out as with any other cake tin and, of course, you can only bake one at a time, unless you purchase another set. The box itself is good thick cardboard which is useful, as it keeps the set altogether, protected and clean in the cupboard ready for the next cake. This truly versatile set means you can create cakes for any occasion, spelling out words, names and ages, so perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, exam passes, babyshowers,...the list is endless!

This cake tin set is great if you’re looking for specific letter and number moulds but don’t want to buy a new tin or mould for each one. The instructions provided show you where to place the inserts to create every letter and number plus a cutter to get a better shape. There is a grid section in the main pan so the inserts don’t move around much when adding the mixture to the tin. A word of warning though, you really need to test it out before diving straight into a cake for a special occasion because there are no recipes provided so one sponge recipe may work and another may not (I tried with a 3 egg sponge which wasn’t bad – just remember to cook it longer as it’s in 1 pan rather than 2).Although it states “Non-stick tins provide easy release so cakes come out easily” I found the opposite to be true – it was very hard to get the cake out the pan and it ended up breaking up. I also had a big problem with it cooking evenly because it’s not easy to tell if it has been evenly distributed so some bits were over done and others a bit under done. Having said that, I do think it’s a good set but just lacks any information about getting the best from it in terms of which recipe to use. I’ll definitely be testing it out a bit more to find what works best to be able to use it for a special occasion.

This Wilton Cake Tin is a “Numbers & Letters” cake tin that is suitable for baking cakes for countless celebrations and occasions. It is a simple idea consisting of rectangular baking tin, measuring 36.8cm by 22.8cm (14 ½ inches by 9 inches), with eight interchangeable inserts and a cutter. With a bit of imagination you can bake all 26 letters of the alphabet and the numbers 0 through to 9 – plus quite a few other shapes and patterns as well. Although this product is non-stick be sure to use cake liner on all parts to help with the release of the cake when cooked – however the tin is dishwasher-safe should you end up with some baked-on bits to clean off.At just under twenty-two pounds currently from Amazon this could be perfect if you need to make something special for the forthcoming Festive Season – or it could make an ideal gift for any “Bake Off” fan this Christmas – especially if they are named Zoe! The Product Description says in “special features” that it is microwave-safe – but it is made from aluminium so should be used with caution and better results may be obtained when used conventionally.

This cake tin is really good! My wife's baking skills are fairly limited, so anything that can help her create a more sophisticated cake than the usual round sponge cake, is perfect for her.So, for our 3 year old birthday party, my wife made a sponge rectangular base but using an insert at the top of the tin so it wasn't as large as the whole tin would have been. She then made a 3 shaped cake following the instructions on the template, which was fairly easy to follow. One thing that she was surprised about is that it was also possible to make smaller shapes and not using the whole tin.One big plus is that spraying the tin and inserts beforehand with frylight worked really well and the cake didn't stick at all.The only, very small, criticism is that the triangle that you use to cut the cake into shape could have been a bit sharper as one section of looked like my wife had taken a chunk out rather than being cut. This was easily fixed when it was covered in icing. My wife got loads of impressed comments from the parents at the party and she was very happy with the result.

You can get amazing results really easily with this set and we love, love, love to bake in our household. We recently had a big party and needed a lot of cake, so made a trial cake first to make sure it would work and it did, but it got rather stuck to the bottom of the pan. The instructions do say that it works better with Wilton's cake release, so reluctantly I bought some and by jove, it's amazing stuff and made a huge different and it came out much better. I would rather not have to buy an additional product instead of just using a bit of butter to grease my cake tins, but with these results, I'm not going to quibble. My only other gripes about this otherwise excellent kit are that you need to be quite careful with the thin metal inserts,as they could easily be damaged as they are quite delicate and no-where does it give you a guide to quantities of cake mixture to go in this tin with the various inserts - it would have been good if there were a recipe and then a guide for how much of a fraction to take off for each digit/letter.

Very happy with this cake tin. Comes with instructions to make any number/letter. I had so many compliments on the cake it produced. I know a few people have said it could do with instructions on how much cake mixture is needed for each configuration so for the number 1 I used to make Victoria sponge: 400g sugar, 400g SF flour, 400g butter, 8 eggs, 2 tsps baking powder and 4 tbsps milk. I baked the cake in 2 halves and sandwiched it together and this made an extra large cake but certainly had the wow factor. The instructions say to do the number backwards so you can turn it upside to get the cake out but I just did it the right round and although a little tricky managed to turn it out just fine after lining well with baking paper.I can’t wait for the next excuse to use this cake tin and feel it’s an investment as I’ll be using it for many celebrations to come!

This is a really good idea, and it actually works. I've used it twice with a fairly solid madeira recipe (Nigella's one) and there was only a little bit of leakage. The inserts are each made of a single sheet of metal, bent to shape and so bow-out a little bit (like a cookie cutter) so I had to flex one of the four I was using very slightly to make it a little more square and get the configuration shown in the diagram, but that really is nit-picking. There is a little bit of wastage as you need to use the cutter provided if you want any diagonal lines, but it's WAY less wastage then you'd get trimming a big square one to shape. It is by necessity a pain to line, so needs to be greased well,to make sure the batter won't stick, and I'll be storing carefully, as it looks like it will be easy to dent/scratch the inserts if not careful.

This is a really useful set, which enables you to bake cakes in all the letters of the alphabet. You get a large cake tray, plus various inserts, a cutter and a template sheet, which shows you how to lay out the various inserts in order to get the shape you want. You can make every letter of the alphabet, numbers zero to nine, a question mark, and exclamation mark and a dollar sign. Remember that letters will be back to front in the tin, but will look fine when you turn them out. The inserts fit well on the grid pattern on the bottom of the tray, and the instructions are easy to follow. My only small criticism is that the letters are a little blocky, but you can trim them, or cover them with a nice icing, etc. and they look good. This is a very cheap way to make a cake in the shape of a name, or age, and the results are good.

Really happy with this purchase, can make any letter and any number plus other shapes. Instructions show how to make the different shapes/letters/numbers.The section pieces can be flimsy, and easily misshapen/bent. However care just needs to be taken especially when washing/drying the pieces. I didn't have any issues.I lined the bottom of the tray with non-stick paper. And followed my recipe exact. Except when it reccomended splitting the mixture between two circular tins. I just put it all into my number 1 shape. Cooked evenly. First birthday cake I've made and was super happy with my purchase, wouldn't have any need to buy this product again however Wouldn't hesitate to reccomend to friends/family.

This cake tin can be used to make any number or letter by putting the relevant inserts in. I used cake release spray as recommended and have been very pleased with the results. I did have to order a second tin as the first one supplied was faulty and had some slightly bent inserts. I have also used the tin without any inserts and made two plain layers, each layer using an 8 egg sponge. This made an enormous cake which produced 48 slices for a 70th birthday party! The number 6 cake in the photo will serve about 24 slices. This single layer cake used a 6 egg sponge recipe. This cake tin is highly recommended if you love baking and want a tin which is very flexible for different occasions.

I make alot of cakes for birthdays and other dates etc so this is really handy. I wish it had come with a recipe or at least quantities as there is an element of guess work involved until you get to know the tin better. The tin itself is well made and the inserts also. My only concerns are the inserts are a little thin so bendy so take care when using or cleaning and they feel scratchy on the edges so may scratch the base tin. That said it's easy to make letters and numbers etc and so much easier than having or renting separate tins. Once you get the hang of it with making shapes and figure out the qualities this tin will be a godsend to use
