This is a beautiful board game with lovely illustrations from the book of We're going on a bear hunt. My children (aged 2.5 and 5) enjoy playing with it and since receiving it at Christmas, we have played it numerous times. However, it is a very basic game which is ideal for the 2 year old who is just learning to play games, but I will not be surprised if the 5 year old bores of it soon. Basically, you have counters that move around the board. If you land on certain special squares then you get to take a card. If you get a green card, you get to have another throw of the dice. If you get the a red card, you do not! There are a lot more green cards, than there are red cards. The first one to reach the square with the bear, races the bear to the end. However, as the player gets to throw two dice and the bear gets to throw one, it is virtually impossible for the bear to catch up with you. My kids have not worked this out yet but it might take some of the excitement away from the game when they do.If you are looking for a good looking basic game, then I would recommend this game, especially if your child is a fan of the book. If you child is slightly older, this game might not be played for long.

Bought this after loving the book and wanting a game that our two year old could play alongside other children/ adults (there aren't many multi-player games for littlies). It's really nice. The illustrations are lovely over the box and board, the board seems really thick and good quality, and our little one really likes putting the playing pieces together. It's simple to play, but not dull, and there are nice touches like dice with clearly displayed numbers instead of dots and colour coded cards so that children who can't read yet can work out what card they've got (i.e. red for miss a turn and green for an extra go). The board and box are so nice that it would be great as a gift.

I bought this for my son's 3rd birthday who loves the bear hunt story. He has not stopped playing with it all week. Sometimes he likes to play by himself and go through the story and sometimes we play together. It is well designed to engage young children in board games as it is easy for them to follow and understand. If you are creative you add in developments as they get older, such as missing a go if they land on the 'we forgot to shut the door' square moving an extra space if you land in the 'faster' square. The game is perfect for youngsters and allows a nice way to incorporate taking turns in the family.

Easy game, does not last very long (10/15mins max) which is a good thing for someone starting out with board games. My 2 year old asks to play (we ve played 3/4 times) and though she is starting to get it, and loves the chasing bear part she hasn't got the patience yet to play a full game. My 4 year old loves it. Rules are simple, sturdy board, lovely illustrations. Highly recommend it for fans of the book with beginners board game players.

Fabulous story all the little ones love this story, very much becoming a classic amongst children books. Fun to read with your child too, not just for them to read it on there own. Also very well made book - fantastic quality.

Bought for my 4 year old as she is just getting into board games and this is great for that age, just enough of a game to keep her interested but very simple and follows the parts of the story as you would expect. Lovely

It's all good as games go for my 4yr old but is somewhat short. Activate the bear and it's pretty much a given that that person has won (unless they continually throw 1's as a person followed by 6's as the bear).

Well what can I say. A board game suitable for 3 years olds is never going to.m be that demanding. She loves it (hence the 5 stars) I on the other hand wouldn’t mind if this game disappeared form the playroom.

Good simple game to introduce kids to board games (essential for a break in tech heavy world). Not too complex but uses dice, cards and markers well. If kids like to book it's great fun and interactive.

You have to know the book to get the most out of this game. It was smaller than I had anticipated. Not sure yet what the reaction will be from recipients; might look a little childish.

bought this game as a gift, I love the dice only going up to 3 as it allows the children to add up simple sums. the children love being chased around the board by the bear.

My wee girl is always wanting to play with this. Will have to give it a few more goes before she fully understands it but she loves throwing the dice lol
