I do a lot of handwriting which involves annotating and signing numerous documents on a daily basis and have started to use this Waterman Rollerball for the task. The shape is good, relatively easy to hold although it could do with being slightly flared towards the nib end to make it a bit more comfortable but I guess that’s just a minor preference. While writing I remove the silver top and place it to one side rather than attach it to the othe end of the pen body, this is because the top is quite heavy and attaching it while writing places a lot of weight above the hand making it feel a little unbalanced. However with the top stored safely somewhere, the pen itself is a nice weight and is easy to use.The push-click top has a firm amount of resistance giving you the confidence that it won’t accidentally come off while in a pocket or bag and with the top removed, the pen body unscrews very easily and inserting/removing the ink refills is a breeze. The pen was supplied with a black refill which writes nicely in about a medium point. The black ink is a nice opaque black which doesn’t discolour and stays black rather than turning that brownish black I’ve experienced with cheaper rollerball pens. The nib moves nicely across the page without skipping or blobbing allowing you to write with a flourish if that’s what takes your fancy. You don’t really notice the Waterman engraving on the edge of the pen lid, but then this isn’t a hugely expensive rollerball, it’s built to do a job rather than be a piece of desk furniture.Overall a pleasant pen to write with on a daily basis.

The Waterman Ballpoint Pen is comfortable to hold as it measures approximately 12mm in diameter, larger than a standard ballpoint pen. This model comes with a blue ink refill already fitted and writes very smoothly. Simply turning the top allows the ballpoint to appear and turning the top in the opposite direction retracts the ballpoint back into the body of the black casing. The pen looks stylish and comes with a gift box which has elasticated bands to hold the pen in place. However, the gift box is made of plain white cardboard, in a blue slipcase with Waterman Paris printed on the top, and rather lets the package down considering the price of £43 reduced currently to £30.54,which I consider a little expensive for this pen. A nicer styled gift box would have made this pen an ideal gift for a student or someone who still puts pen to paper rather than using email. There was no enclosed leaflet explaining where to purchase a refill for this ballpoint pen and so a trip to the leading High Street stationers might be in order. Hopefully there will be a black ink refill available as most forms state that only black ink is permissible. Overall, though, I was pleased with the pen and just sorry the gift box was not elaborate and a black ink refill not included with the installed blue ink refill.

Most of my roller ball pens/biro are of the cheap give away variety and are in a heap in a drawer. This one by Waterman is staying in my handbag to make sure it does not get lost as it is simply lovely. this particular one has a fine nib. I have found in the past that pens with a fine nib can feel hard as you write but not this one. It is a “soft” write and a pleasure to use.Comes in a nice presentation box but I was slightly baffled when opening it as I could not see the ink cartridge but after giving the box a shake and hearing a rattle realised it was at the bottom and covered up by the presentation packing. Doh...Instructions are, as per, in about ten languages and mainly illustrated.I found the print difficult to read or the pictures to see clearly but as I am an older person this is probably down to my eyesight. I used my magnifying glass and had it assembled in a few minutes. Do make sure you push the cartridge firmly into the pen else the nib you have to write with is a bit short.Excellent pen and I am really pleased with it

It is a long time since I have had a decent ballpoint pen generally using cheapies that can be bought for virtually nothing. This ballpoint pen by Waterman came in a presentation box and my first impression was ‘smart and well made’ the barrel being black with a chrome top which is engraved with the word ‘Waterman France’.This item has a medium nib with blue ink. As I put pen to paper, my writing just glided along the sheet. It was so easy to write with and felt good between my fingers. The nib retracted just by twisting the barrel. You can replace the ink refill cartridge simply by twisting and taking out and the current price for a replacement is approximately £4.50 which seems to be quite reasonable.I can’t fault the pen and am enjoying using it.It is a quality product which should appeal to either gender. However, I have deducted a star because I think it is a little overpriced but then if you can afford it, why not? and it should last a long time as the name ‘Waterman’ is a mark of quality.

This is a lovely looking pen that is comfortable to hold in the hand and it does produce very nice results with no drops or smudging. The cap is very heavy though, so I would not recommend placing it at the top like it is shown in the product picture when in use. It would simply be too top-heavy to write comfortably and the cap is also in the way of how I hold the pen best when I write. It was well presented on arrival in a hard case with the ink cartridge located in the bottom level of the box. I'm not sure why, but at least it might remind the buyer or gift recipient to order a refill as soon as they know whether they like writing with the pen,so they don't run out in the future. It is pricey and I'm not sure it is much better than many other slightly cheaper brands, but it is a lovely gift and it does produce nice results - as long as you keep the cap at a distance when in use...

Waterman Emblème Fountain Pen, Black with Chrome Trim, Medium Nib with Blue Ink Cartridge, Gift Box is another beautiful writing pen from Waterman.I have loved Waterman pens for years, ever since I was presented one when I was at school for passing an exam. To be exact I still have the pen as if looked after properly it will never let you down. This pen, like all of Waterman products, glides across the paper, it sits beautifully in my hand and even after constant writing the ink flows from it with even strokes, no splodges or leaks from it. Just simply excellent writing. Also included with the pen is an ink cartridge.I do believe when using a good quality pen, it helps your writing in so many levels and with a Waterman,I am happy to report it enables me to write clearly without any hesitation from the flow of ink.A great pen which I am happy to recommend.

I like this pen. I had the Blue Rollerball, with a Blue refill. Came in a gift box which to be honest i just threw away so it makes no odds to me as i never keep them. The pen is nice and chunky, easy to hold and i have arthritis. It was comfortable to me. It came with a single blue refill but this is par for the course now, refills are pretty cheap and easy to come by so its not an issue. It writes well, ink flows nicely, i did have a few blotches here and there, but most pens do this.My only negative is that for the money i dont think its worth it. Some of the parts are plastic, you can dress it up by saying resin all you like, but its still plastic. I think had it been a full aluminium or steel barrel i would have given 5 stars, but at the current price of £43 i dont think its value for money.

this is my second waterman and this is the chepaer of the two and to be honest I find I prefer writing with this one. Its more a personal thing than anything else, they are both well weighted and feel comfortable to write with its just that this ones nib grabs the paper in a way I prefer. It glides well but I can feel the transfer in my had really well when using it, so I love it to write with....however I would say for an RRP like this one has I would want somthing better when it comes to teh box it comes with, a flimsly cardboard box is a bit rubbish, but saying that my more expensive pen came with a case but that seems to ahve been chepaly manufacterd....so in short its a great pen and if you are looking for a decent fountain pen you cant go wrong with it,it just wont be boxed that well

Waterman fountain pen reviewI can remember my parents giving me a Platignum pen for my birthday, a vast improvement on those pens I used in school (basically a long, round piece of wood with a nib at one end that had to be dipped in a desk inkwell). Using this attractive Embleme fountain pen was a little bit of nostalgia having used mostly ball point pens over the years, which are thrown away after they're empty.I would consider this fountain pen more for special rather than regular use and I really like its short barrel. The nib is a medium and it's fine for my handwriting though I assume there is a choice of nibs. Unfortunately the pen only comes with one ink cartridge, sort of mean in my view considering the price. It's the ideal gift for regular handwriters

First of all I want to tell you I did not purchase this item but it was sent to me by Amazon in return for an unbiased and honest review. This is a nice looking pen but a tad expensive at just under £37.However it was easy to insert the black fine refill without instructions but there is a leaflet in numerous languages with diagrams should you need it.The pen writes well and is comfortable to hold, a little of the chunky side maybe, a good weight, some pens with a fine tip can be scratchy but this is not.A good satisfying click when your replace the top.I shall enjoy using this pen and keep it on my desk with my diary.Advertised as being gift boxed, not a posh box just a cardboard sleeve.Yes can recommend would be suitable,in my opinion, for male or female.

I have always enjoyed using fountain pens, but recently I have taken to using cheaper pens because inevitably they dry up and I haven't found the confidence to invest in a more expensive pen, so I was delighted to be able to try this traditional Waterman fountain pen.Initially I found that it was quite scratchy and the nib was very fine but it' seems to have settled into producing a smoother action and the nib has widened slightly so I get the more defined line when writing. As a left hander, I think it is unusual that I use a fountain pen without smudging. This one I found comfortable to use and a nice weight. I'm still not sure I would pay the current price for this as I am not sure how durable it will be,but for now I'm enjoying using it very much.

The pen comes in a tatty-looking box, making it an unattractive gift, and there is only one cartridge, which is mean, but everything else is good. It is rather heavy, which I like, with smart appearance (not vulgar) and the bulging shape makes it very comfortable to hold and to use for sustained writing. The cartridge fitted easily into the head, and the pen wrote straight away, denoting a good ink flow. The nib gives a nice, clean line, and glides smoothly over the paper. If, as I do, you enjoy the physical sensation of writing, you will love this. Elegant, but not gimmicky, and I anticipate much pleasure from it in the future, as I still prefer to send handwritten letters and cards whenever possible.A splendid tool.

This is a very stylish looking fountain pen that comes in a beautiful presentation box (so would make it a really lovely gift).Comfortable to hold, quite heavy but still very comfortable when using.Comes with one cartridge provided- although refills are readily available from this brand in local stores.Nib is fine so writes beautifully on paper.Stylish colour- would look great in meetings ect.Doesn’t drip or leak which is what you’d expect from this well respected brand.Price does feel quite steep (currently just over £50 on prime) for a pen, even one that’s as good a make as this.If price isn’t an issue then would definitely recommend as it’s a brilliant pen.

Writing with this pen is smooth and comfortable and I have had no issues with it. The pen looks quite nice with its navy and silver finish and the embossed logos look quite classy. Twisting the end reveals the ballpoint pen and it is very satisfying to do.The box it comes in is a cheaper feeling cardboard slide out box that takes away from the overall unboxing experience and it makes the overall package feel cheaper than it should. If you are giving this as a gift keep this in mind.A very expensive pen for when you get but for somebody that would get a good amount of use out if it then I would say they will be very happy with the writing experience.

This is a solidly made, quality fountain pen that sits nicely in the hand and glides beautifully across the page. The silver-effect lid and nib give a lovely appearance and set off the black resin body to give a premium effect. The only disappointing feature for me was the gift box, which was quite flimsy and not in keeping with the premium nature of the pen itself. For the price this pen usually commands, I would have expected something more high-end in terms of gift packaging, particularly if I was going to give the pen to someone as a present. The pen itself though is lovely - could just do with a few more ink refills to go with it!
