This board game escaped from the otherwise quiet and leafy suburbs of middle England a year ago to the largely collective, and entirely predictable, outcry of the national press. Sadly, they missed the point - it's a board game! Indeed, it's a very good board game.Well produced and with great attention paid to both the physical production and the game play. In a case of art mimicking life the boundaries between those perceived to be good and those bad can become quickly muddied as world powers have both the capacity to fight terrorists and then empower them to pursue their own covert agendas by 'other means'. This concept is presented in wonderfully quirky game play with some great humorous touches such as the 'wheel of fortune'and much-desired free balaclava - the season's must have look for the more discerning wouldbe terrorist.Britain has a long and well-established history of using humour as a means to question those we empower to lead us. While this may not have been the direct aim of the game's creators, it does follow in that tradition and, let's not overlook that it's also a great 'beer and peanuts' game to play with friends (even those who have no previous inclination toward boardgames). So, if you would like to stuff more than just the turkey this Xmas and, if you are not so blind as to be taken in by the muling, sensationalist and unqualified headlines of some of our red-top nationals, I can highly recommend this offering from Terror Bull as a great alternative to the Xmas Monopoly-fest.

The first time I played this game, I laughed so hard I soiled myself. The second time was all business; it ended with a broken nose and stitches, but you shoulda seen the other chick. When I gave it to my mother for her birthday she slapped me and took me out of her will and the family trust; after she played it I am now trustee and my sister don't get squat. When I sent a copy to Shrub at 1600 Pennsylvania, the commando team came bursting through every window and I was only able to taser four of them before we were all knocked cold by the concussion grenades. This game will change your life and if not for the better, then you likely needed to hit rock bottom. If you have no sense of humor then this game will give you one.If you used to kill small animals as a child, this game will cure you of your serial sickness. Figure out what is missing in your life, buy this game, and all your problems will be solved. No matter what happens, I promise you this: after playing this game, you will split your life into two sections -- "pre-War On Terror the Boardgame" and "post-War on Terror the Boardgame." You may even, as I have, reset your age accordingly. I am now 11 months old. In two weeks, I will have my first birthday. All I have asked for is more copies of War on Terror The Boardgame so I can help spread it like the thought virus it is. Change your life today!

You'll need a fairly robust sense of humour and possibly a few drinks to get the most out of this. The game itself is well made. I love the "have I got news for you" cartoons throughout. Only complaints are that the cards are fairly flimsy (which is an issue because the game requires a lot of shuffling) and the components are a bit "plasticky" - though for a first edition made on a shoe string it's not bad. Some of the rules do need a bit of tweaking. We've had to a add house rule for the 2 player game which stops players voluntarily turning terrorist (- It allows you to win more or less immediately.) That said, there is a fairly extensive FAQ on-line which appears to be updated quite often. All the gripes notwithstanding I loved it,touches such as the "axis of evil" spinner and "evil balaclava" are fantastic, and often have people in stitches before the game even starts.Highly recommended. Though recent developments on the world stage have taken the wind out of it's sails a little...

I love different kind of games and board games and War on Terror is one of the most fun and interesting I've seen released in a long time. The humour is definitely on the dry and maybe dark side, so perhaps not for everyone but if you appreciate some sarcasm and irony you may well love it. The game mechanics are fairly simple to digest, the negotiations, alliances and back-stabbing could come naturally to some or might need a little bit of training but most of my friends got into it pretty fast so we had a healthy atmosphere of paranoia and mistrust by the end of evening, only interrupted by occasional fits of laughter of whoever couldn't keep serious anymore ;)The quality of the game and pieces are top notch as well and packaged in an original way, each set of cards and markers in their own little plastic satchel so all the pieces don't go all over the place in the box.Really recommended.

I love this game. We first came across it by accident in a shop in Brighton last Christmas and bought it for my sister in law. We played it several time last Christmas. It does take hours to complete, so we would end up playing well into the early hours of the morning. It also has quite a lot of rules that we found we had to keep double checking early on to make sure we weren't doing anything wrong, but a couple of goes at the game will give everyone the general idea.We find the game lots of fun and different to anything we've played before. I think its along the lines of the Risk game, but the terror and oil themes put a modern spin on it. Not for the PC brigade or the easily offended, but a great game to play with friends.Definately worth it of you have 4-6 hours to kill.

I ordered this as soon as I read about it - and it's every bit as clever, funny, poignant and - despite its satire - true, as I could have imagined. An incredibly addictive game, one part Monopoly, one part Risk, the other part Rage Against The Machine, this is a game for intelligent thinkers, once again using the power of humour (and fun!) to combat the myths of our time. And, if you're still in any doubt, it even includes a balaclava which states 'EVIL', which makes even your coolest friends look hilarious. Brilliant, highly commendable and highly recommended.

...or at the very least ensure a night of unpleasantly themed, and wonderfully enjoyable, board gaming. Let me say, for the record, that whoever is responsible for this outrage should, in the name of all that is fair, be given a medal for services to satire. Sheer genius. The game will give you a good laugh, and it even cured my baldness and got me an attractive new girlfriend. What are you waiting for? Buy it now, but only from Amazon.com, as the co.uk lot don't seem to stock it yet. Thank you, do I get my prize now?

This is a pretty pricey game, but it is without doubt the best group/ party board game in history. Acerbic wit and genuinely exciting game play. The opportunity to use terrorists and chemical weapons on your friends is one that any sick minded individual will not want to pass up on.

A game for all the family, it's a shame no one bought it for Bush and Blair!Great fun for adults and teenagers - and they may even want to play with you rather than on the x-box, all you need is a wicked sense of humour and a desire for world domination.
