I’ve tried a couple of different VR Headsets that require you to insert your phone.  This VR Insane POP360 headset is a cut above a lot of the competition.  The fact that the POP360 folds down into a compact carry case is undeniably a key selling point, but I was more impressed by how light it is!  I have a VR Box Headset and that weighs in at 367g.  VR Insane POP360 is only 219g – and when you’ve got something strapped to your head, that makes a world of difference!  With POP360 you can adjust the distance between your eyes, but there is no dioptre adjustment (for glasses wearers).  Yes, you can wear POP360 with your glasses on,but it’s more comfortable if you can take them off.VR Insane POP360 is intended for use with phones with a larger 4.5” plus screen size.  I have an iPhone SE which has a 4” screen size.  It works fine, apart from the fact that when you look through the POP360 you can see light getting in where the phone doesn’t quite cover the viewing area.  This detracts from the immersive experience, so I decided to make a small frame out of black card to stop the light leak - and it worked perfectly well.  With larger phones like the iPhone 6 or the Galaxy S6 or S7, this won’t be an issue.   This is not a criticism of the POP360 at all, but if you do want to use the product with a slightly smaller phone than the manufacturer suggests, it is certainly doable.A nice feature of the VR Insane POP360 is the “Capacitive” button that simulates a finger pressing the screen.  This makes the POP360 fully compatible with any of the Google Cardboard apps that are currently available.  It’s particularly useful when watching Google Cardboard videos on Youtube, where you can press the button to bring up a pause, advance or step back menu. The most important thing with this type of VR Headset is to experience the best of the apps that are currently available. You can buy any one of the many similar Smartphone VR Headsets, but your experience will always be disappointing if you don’t download some decent content.  Because I’ve already played around with some similar VR Headsets, I had already downloaded a couple of great games, such as End Space VR by Justin Wasilenko (which I think was 99p to download) and Voxel Fly (which was free to download).  I would particularly recommend End Space - It’s a great space shooter, that uses the technology really well.  VR Insane help to give newcomers a head-start with the (free to download) VR Insane App – a well curated selection of currently available Google Cardboard compatible content from Youtube.  I’ve watched quite a few of these videos now, and they tend to be quite diverse from a content perspective – from Video Game trailers, to NASA educational videos and Travel films.I really liked the VR Insane POP360 Headset, the collapsible design means you can pop it easily into a jacket pocket, bag or drawer when not in use.  Other products are bulky by comparison. The lightweight design is a massive positive for me, and the free App is a great way to get started with content. With other products, you get the think out of the packaging and it’s like, “what do I do now?”  Here you’re guided to a place where you can start enjoying VR Content straight away. Obviously you’re not going to get the same VR Experience here as you will with a product like Sony Playstation VR or Occulus Rift, but it’s also not going to cost you upwards of four hundred pound either. Compared to other similar VR Headsets at a similar price-point, this is a great product and a great introduction to the potential of VR technology,

VR headsets are the kind of incredibly exciting products that build up huge expectations amongst digital enthusiasts, especially with the hype around mainstream VR concerns like Google Cardboard. It's fair to say that expectations were high with this particular incarnation of the VR viewer, too, as it's both affordable and looks sleek. The build definitely doesn't disappoint, as it's quite sturdily put together; there's a secure, strong-fitting, click-lock door on the front to hold your phone in place, a telescopic rubberised back to fit on the face, and a double-strap securing mechanism to hold the unit steady on your head. It fits pretty comfortably (if a little heavily on the bridge of the nose),and held an iPhone 7 Plus with no problem at all. The whole unit comes neatly squished down, and returns to that small-form size very easily for when you want to throw it into your bag on the go.However, be prepared to fiddle a LOT to get results that won't disappoint. Fortunately, this fiddling is made easier by the inclusion of two optical field sliders above each eye, which change the lens angle. There's definitely a knack to viewing, too, and you almost have to deliberately cross your eyes a little to achieve the 'WOW' depth effect. When you get that, though, it makes the effort all worth it - you start to experience the product as an early step in a series of innovations that could really lead somewhere. It's not *quite* there yet, though. The VR Insane app is full of video links to keep you exploring, and appears to be updated regularly, too. Lots of fun and diverse links are included already, from the scenic (waterfalls) to navy seal operations, Call of Duty style. There's enough variety there to keep you experimenting, despite the fiddly nature of the medium. At the price, you can't really go wrong if you want a taste of VR for yourself and are prepared to mess around a bit for results. It's novel and enticing enough not to be put away in a cupboard *just* yet.

I've used two other cardboard enabled devices fairly recently: the very basic DIY one available for free from Google, and the fancy one that comes bundled with the new Pixel phones. As you'd expect given the market it targets, the VR Insane falls somewhere between these two poles, but it's remarkably close in quality to the official google flagship model.Good:====It comes in a handy carrying case and the way it expands and squashes back down is quite clever. It's definitely small and sturdy enough to put in a backpack when traveling. When set up correctly, the VR experience is pretty immersive. I have a fairly small head, but I was able to adjust the straps so the thing was comfortable.I used it with both a MotoG4 and a WileyFox Swift 2 - not huge phones, but big enough for the Pop360 to fill my vision with faux-3D graphics.Mediocre:=======It can take quite a bit of fiddling to get the right position and focal length for a good 3D experience - this is pretty much unavoidable in headsets designed for multiple phones. The Pixel version is designed for the Pixel, so it fits well and quickly. It is possible to achieve good results, but it takes some trial and error. After the first adjustment, it's easy to remember what to do on subsequent occasions, though. The VR Insane app isn't great - I'd advise looking on the play store for content instead.Bad:===Nothing really, besides the lack of really high quality vr apps out at the minute. I can hardly blame that on the Pop360, though!Overall, this headset presents a good mid-level VR solution - very good for checking out what the fuss is about without breaking the bank.

This is a well-made and comfortable VR headset. The lenses adjust laterally, to allow people of all ages to use them, and there is plenty of room for spectacle-wearers to keep their glasses on. I tried the headset with a 5.5" size phone screen and it worked very well. You align the phone and clip the cover into place, holding it securely. Very thick phones (like the giant battery pack on mine) won't fit, but most modern smartphones of the appropriate size will. The only issue was the curved screen on the LG phone I have meant that the "capacititive" button failed to connect reliably with the screen. The headset comes with a case, instructions and carry cloth. The case requires you to fold the headset down and is a bit of a squeeze to get it into, so I just leave it out and the phone cover protects the lenses. The app the instructions direct you to is pretty poor, but there are some much better apps available on the Google Play store. My old mum said the headset made her feel ill when she tried it, but it didn't make anyone else feel particularly queezy. However these headsets do mess with your head a little and there's a little re-adjustment you need to make to reconnect with reality when you remove them. After an initial flurry of "Ooh! Let's have a go!" the headset is now not being used, so as a 5-minute wonder, this headset is on the pricy side. I'd advise newcomers to go for a budget headset instead and see if the novelty wears off. That said, this *is* a lovely headset, and it works well in use. 4* as it's on the pricy side and the app is poor. (In fairness, the app may well get updated and improved.)

I'm still on the lookout for the perfect VR headset, and yet again I've had the opportunity to try one which does so much right, but which is still not quite perfect.Without a doubt this is the most comfortable, and lightest to use headset I've tried. The design is terrific - the whole thing squeezes intro a box roughly the size of a thick paperback. Unfortunately you do have to remove the straps to do this, and I would worry that the top silicone loop in particular might break eventually. I've opted to leave the strap on and only partially close the box - it keeps the worst of the dust off while still remaining quick to deploy. It has adjustment for eye width, but not for focus, although I didn't find this to be much of a problem, but inevitably it comes down to how good or bad your eyes are in the first place, with long sighted people having most difficulties. With a 5" screen my field of view wasn't filled, but I'm okay with that as other headsets can give weird effects when your field of view is filled - again, this comes down to the lenses. So while the actual VR experience isn't top of the line, the comfort is exceptional, which is why I'd give it a 4 out of 5.You can scan a QR code on the side of the packaging to install a VR Insane app which gives the option of either the normal app or a kids version, which is a nice touch. It's of somewhat limited use as you start in the VR Insane app but open the videos with the Youtube app, so thereafter you're looking at the videos Youtube recommends. But it's a free app so no biggy.

I'm not completely convinced. On the positive side, it's nicely built, fairly light, the fastening for phones etc. seems quite solid, the styling is about as good as it's possible to get for something like this, and once it's dialled in, it does work within the limitations of the technology. Which is where it starts to go pear-shaped. Other reviewers have found it a pain to set up, and it was for me also. The internal lenses are OK, but require considerable adjustment to get a decent depth perspective. The quality of the results also depends on the size of the screen (bigger isn't necessarily better, especially if you're susceptible to issues in the periphery) and of course programme material, although there's plenty of that to be going on with and regular updates. The biggest caveat is whether you feel this actually gives you anything of value, or if it's just another example of a solution to a requirement that never actually existed. I wouldn't go that far (I must be getting generous), but I don't think the technology is really ready yet, and I can't help feeling that it's a gimmick. Interesting, and certainly diverting for a while, but not a profound leap that is likely to find mass-appeal. Since the cost is low, it's fortunately not a massive risk to find out, so if you think this is something you'd like to try -it's a good place to start. Recommended then, with caveats.

This is the first time I've tried one of these basic VR headsets and I'm fairly impressed. Obviously, it's nothing like the true VR headsets, like the Oculus, HTC Vive, and PS VR etc., but it gives you a basic insight into the world of VR. I've tried a variety of different games and videos, including the VR Insane 360 Video App, which is decent. One app I would recommend downloading is "Titans of Space", which is a simulator that takes you on a journey through the solar system and gives detailed information about each planet (and their moons). Screen quality is generally limited, but it's sufficient, just don't expect HD content or high quality graphics (even when using a QHD phone screen). The headset itself is quite good - It's made of sturdy plastic and feels good quality. The straps fit over my head fine and it feels reasonably comfortable. Both my Oneplus 3 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge fit fine and are held securely. The two lenses can be independently adjusted, so the image is centered and focussed. The headset arrives with a case, but it's quite awkward to use and can't get the headset in with the straps attached, which is annoying.Overall, This is definitely worth checking out and presents a nice introduction into virtual reality.

At this price point it is good value for money. It will provide all the family with hours of entertainment. Simply download the VR Insane app for either Apple or Android devices and away you go.The unit comes in a very handy box for storage. The head harness is very easily adjustable and the unit is comfortable to wear. Remember to remove the protective cover from the lenses before use or the image will not be clear. The lens width is adjustable via two sliders on the top of the unit so you can adjust to suit your own comfort. My Samsung galaxy S7 was well protected when in position in the unit and is held very securely. The free VR Insane App contains loads of free VR movie samples and you can choose from various categories, including Sport, Horror, Experiences, kids etc etc. There really is something for all the family.Love it!

Let's start by saying that this is the most fun I have had with my iPhone in quite a while! But not just me, the whole family. Grandparents were amazed, children were wowed and as parents, we had a lot of smug satisfaction from enabling everyone to experience something new.Set up is very straight forward - unbox it (make sure you fully pull the mask out otherwise you can't adjust the lenses. Download the VR Insane app and begin to immerse yourself in some pretty cool virtual reality. There is a good variety of videos available and for the money, you can't go far wrong. The only downside for me was my iPhone battery showed how poor it was by draining rapidly!

It`s well made, seems quite tough, and not too difficult to set up - I didn`t do it, because I don`t use my phone for things like this, but my wife did it easily. The headset itself is lighter and a bit more comfortable than I thought it would be so that was a nice surprise - I thought these things would be heavier. I don`t really like wearing it and using it though; as someone who gets migraines it feels like I`m pushing my luck. My wife liked using it a lot more than I do, but then she`s younger than me :) It`s a very good, cheap introduction to VR, but I can`t say that I thought it was something I was that keen to investigate further.

13.3.2017

The VR headset comes nicely packaged, is quick and easy to set up with adjustable straps for your head. The space for your phone is quite slim, which means that you'll probably need to take any case off your phone before you use it which can be a bit of a faff but it's a tight fitting device to hold the phone securely and make sure it doesn't drop out by accident and smash your phone. It works really well, is nice quality, quite comfortable and easy to set up and use. There is a QR code that comes with the headset. Scan it with your phone to align the software with your device, job done.

2.3.2017

This is my first virtual reality headset (so I guess I haven't anything to compare it to), but for the price especially, I think this VR Insane set is amazing.I haven't worn it for very prolonged periods, but find it fairly comfortable to wear; light and not as cumbersome as I was expecting. It's also very easy to use, my iPhone 6 fits iniode perfectly and I didn't have to consult the box or manual once.In my opinion the build quality is incredibly good.Since I ordered the price has come down even further too to £19.99, so order while it's cheap!Highly recommended.

22.5.2017

I'm surprised that this is as low priced as it is, as it's a remarkably good piece of kit. It did take me a while to be able to figure out how to focus and see the content properly but once I did, I felt a bit like a kid again, exploring my surroundings. There was a deer to my right, for example. All while sitting on the sofa in my lounge :) Comfortable to wear and a surprising amount of content available to play around with, I recommend this as the price is amazing and if nothing else your kids will be occupied for hours...if they can get it away from you of course!

2.3.2017

I a not sure I fully get this whole VR thing, it just seems to be a bit of fad to be honest. There is little content out there, so once you get past a few initial things there seems to be very little point.Saying that, the actual item is well built, comfortable to wear, and fits nicely in the carry case that comes with it. As an item I can't fault it, I am just not sure VR is going to be anything other than a 3D TV or Hoverboard.

18.3.2017

I cannot compare this with any of the other myriad similar d vicesmavailable but it does seem solidly made. We found it a fiddle getting the phone iPhone 6 - in and adjusted right. I must admit the major problem was the crack in the screen. Amazing effect once you do get it right, although the crack still detracted from this quite a bit.
