A friend kindly informed me of this great deal. Popped online and ordered one (so did two friends that I told as well!). I'm using the card in my Canon G3 camera. Altering the cameras picture resolution allows me to take the following number of shots on this card2272x1704 @ superfine =123 shots2272x1704 @ fine =221 shots2273x1704 @ normal =442 shots1600x1200 @ superfine =246 shots1600x1200 @ fine =439 shots1600x1200 @ normal =866 shots1024x768 @ superfine =430 shots1024x768 @ fine =761 shots1024x768 @ normal =1387 shots640x480 @ superfine =960 shots640x480 @ fine =1560 shots640x480 @normal =2714 shotsIt works fine, haven't noticed anything slow about the card. Comes in a well padded box, which is security sealed and has its own little plastic storage case to keep it safe from dust etc. All in all a little bargain

There's not a huge amount to differentiate between CF cards, they are all meant to manufactured to a standard, but of course some do this better than others. The same is true of the devices that use CF as their memory format, so really the only way to tell if a Viking CF card is going to work well with your Canon DigiCam or Palm PDA is to try it yourself or find someone else who has (technology review websites will often mention this kind of thing). This card, when used with my Canon PSA40, has pretty standard write/read speed and the same is true on my MP3 player so it is *probably* a safe buy for most equipment....On my 2 MegaPixel camera it gives me enough room for 250 large hi-res photosor up to 3,000 small web quality pictures....all in all a good buy if you need a quarter gig of flash memory!

I'm using it in my HP Ipaq H2210 PDA.I'm also using it with a Lacie USB2 CF Card Reader/Writer.- The speed of this thing is incredible. I don't know exactly how fast it is, but I've had 5MB Mp3s transfered to the card in about 2 seconds. Reading is just as fast, and I can copy files back to my PC in seconds.- Low power consumption in my PDA, and excellent, smooth playback of MP3, VOB, MOV, MPG and DIVX-AVI Files.- Excellent Price/Value.Just remember, Compact Flash cards are delicate. If you lob it at your cat in a stress, or leave it on the radiator - IT WON'T WORK. Also, NEVER turn of the power to a CF-CARD when it is transfering or reading a file, this can sometimes damage the card.

I bought this card for use with my Sharp Zaurus PDA, and use it to store music files (mp3, ogg) for playing through the Zaurus media player. This works without a hitch. The card simply slots into the top of the Zaurus and is mounted automatically (as /mnt/cf); it's then easy to write to the card using the Zaurus file manager etc..The only issue I have is occasional crashes when I'm trying to write masses of files to the card (through the Qtopia interface). This problem disappears if you only send 40MB or so of files at a time, though. This is a really good price for the amount of storage (the cheapest Flash card I've found). Recommended!

I do beleive that this is a product that will work with everything as mine has been in 4 different peoples cameras in the space of 2 months and has worked great in all of them. You wont get 256MB cheaper any where else that i have seen and this is 12X capable, do not beleive others that say it is slow ! IT IS NOT SLOW ! the only thing to slow down your camera writing to CF cards is the cameras internal memory buffer. There is not much else you can say about a CF flash card apart from that yes it is reliable, well boxed, good value and that I would buy further products from Viking in the future.

Plugged it into my ipaq. No problems - Recognizes it as a CF Card no problem. I have had problems with my ipaq, but I think this is due to software I have installed on it.I have had an error message a few time saying the CF memory was not found, but just had to reset the ipaq at the back to clear this. This hasn't resurfaced for months now.Great Price. It's been pulled in and out a few times (with pliers - it's a bit of tight squeeze), has been left in a bag outside overnight by accident, and has survived my general abuse of it. Must be okay.

I have just bought a Minolta Dimage 7i and was looking for a decent size compact flash card but I was confused which one to buy. When I looked at the range I was shocked when I came across the Viking card and it's ridiculously low price on amazon. I was dubious of it's quality due to the low price but after looking at some online reviews I thought i'd chance it. I was glad I did. What a card! It's fast, faster than my Kodak and with guaranteed compatibility it would be crazy to pay more. Excellent card.

Well, this is the first extra card I bought for my Canon IXUS 400. I bought is because of the positive reviews on this site. There are other, cheaper cards available but I have had absolutely no trouble with my Viking card and am considering purchasing another one.I can't comment on download speeds as I have nothing to compare it with, but it seems to be fine to me.I thoroughly recommend this card.

Kodak EasyShare DX4900 Digital Camera + Viking 256MB Compact Flash = 300+ 4.0 Mega Pixels Photographs...... Pefrect :-)Extremely easy to useExtremely reliable - not one fault with this cardExtremely useful to have the facility to take so many photosAll I need is a better camera, with a battery life that can live upto the quality and size of the CompactFlash card!!!!

Bought this 256MB Viking for my Canon A70 and also use it with my HAMA 6 in 1 memory reader. I've only used it for a month but till now it works perfectly well. Transfer speed is great and the card itself is relatively cheap compared to other 256MB models on the market. It deserves 5 stars.

9.4.2003

There's not really much you can say - it's a 256MB card for much less than you would pay for 128MB from a "big brand." My PC recognises mine as a Toshiba unit so there is no reason to infer inferior quality from a low price. A great card at a great price - why pay more for the sake of it?

25.6.2003

I have a pair of these and a pair of the 128Mb version. I've taken around 10,000 shots on my D30 and D60 cameras with these cards and they've performed impecably. The only problem I've ever had was due to the camera and not the card.Good technical support in Europe too.

13.1.2003

bought this card for my canon ixus v3 can now take up to 156 at highest res. 2700 at the lowest setting. it has also enhanced the movie mode feature, i would recommend this card to anybody thinking of upgrading their memory, great value and very quick service as usual.

Excellent price. I use a Minolta Dimage 5.2 MegaPixel digital camera and 256Mb is enough for 100 pictures at good resolution. I ordered the Viking compact flash card: it arrived within 3 days and works perfectly. No more to say. End of story.
