Samsung has once again added to their industry leading portfolio of memory cards with the Plus versions of their very impressive PRO and EVO lines. For this review, we will be looking at the Samsung EVO Plus line of microSD memory cards (or Evo+), which are specifically designed for content creation and the increasing storage demands of the newest smartphones, tablets, compact cameras and Full HD camcorder users. Last year, we looked at the 32GB version of the Samsung EVO line, and found it to be easily one of the best available microsSD cards on the market for its class, offering great performance at an unbeatable price. The new Plus version improves on its predecessor in every way, including a boost in storage capacity to 128GB, which is double the maximum of the previous EVO line.r>The Samsung Evo plus line continues with the recently rebranded design of the company’s flash cards, with a pretty slick looking exterior. The only change from the previous Evo line is the color, which is now a sharp red opposed to the previous use of orange.Using our Consumer Testing Platform, we measured transfer speeds from the 128GB Samsung Evo Plus microSD card with IOMeter. Here, sequential transfer rates were recorded with reads and writes of 84.9MB/s and 19.7MB/s respectively, the latter which is nearly double the speed of its predecessor, which posted 44.4MB/s read and 19.1MB/s write. The SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDXC achieved reads of 90.9MB/s and writes of 74.7MB/s while the Samsung’s microSDHC Plus 32GB card posted 71.44MB/s read and 20.08MB/s write. When comparing random large-block transfers, the Samsung Evo Plus recorded 79.5MB/s read with 3.9MB/s write. Though it measured a very poor write activity, the new Evo Plus had a serious increase in read performance once again. With that said, looking at the SanDisk Extreme Plus showed read and write speeds of 85.9MB/s and 43.8MB/s respectively, while the SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDHC hit 87.6MB/s read and 13.4MB/s write. The Samsung Evo posted 43.9 MB/s read and 32.0MB/s writeConclusionThe new Samsung EVO Plus microSDs are very well suited for mainstream consumers looking to meet the ever-growing storage requirements of smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices that support UHS Speed Class 1 and Class 10 video recording ratings. These tiny devices are also a tough bunch of memory cards, as Samsung upgraded the Evo line even further with increased water, shock, magnet, X-ray and temperature protection. The new Plus line received a substantial boost in storage as well with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB available capacities, which is double the maximum capacity compared to its predecessor. As far as performance goes, performance was unsurprisingly impressive for its class. When we put it through our tests, it measured sequential reads and writes of 84.9MB/s and 19.7MB/s respectively, while random activity boasted 79.5MB/s read with 3.9MB/s write. Comparing these results to its predecessor, which posted sequential read and write performance of 44.4MB/s and 19.1MB/s respectively (while random hit 43.9 MB/s read and 32.0MB/s write), the new Samsung Evo Plus microSD cards certainly offer a significant upgrade to the previous EVO line in the important read column.ProsGreat overall performanceCompetitive pricingReliability featuresConsRandom large-block write was very slowRead full review...

Edit: 10/07/2016I am absolutely devastated as my Samsung 64GB Evo card has failed after just 4 months of use with it now advising it is corrupt.I lost over 4000 precious photos and videos of my children and family including photos of family members no longer with me.I have just had to spend £11.50 to get a DiskDigger membership for it to attempt to recover some of these photos and thankfully it has managed to recover around 2000 of them but that is still half of what I have lost and a lot of very important ones are still lost because of this rubbish card. Yes I know that I should have backed them all up and I have no idea why I didn't to be honest as I always backup my PC and DSLR ones.A very hard and cruel lesson learnt! To add insult to injury I am now having issues with Amazon trying to get a refund despite me shopping (A LOT!) on here each week. There is supposed to be a 10 year warranty on the card but going from other reviews apparently Samsung want you to ship it to them at your own cost abroad and then will only offer a replacement - NO THANKS I do not wish to have to spend even more money out and I will not be risking my precious memories with a Samsung micro SD again!I have just purchased a SanDisk SD card and I have now learnt the valuable lesson to back-up regularly!I cannot recommend anyone trusting this card especially as at the time of editing my 'original happy and full of praise for the card review' there are approximately 835 customers who have had the same issue and they are only the ones who have taken the time to write a review.

I was excited to receive the Samsung memory card as I needed it for my wife and myself, we take a lot of pictures and videos of our little toddler and family so we needed the memory. The packaging is standard, it came in an large envelope (which was tricky as the SD cards were so small it fell out I didn’t realise until later due to the large envelope) and the SD cards came in a plastic package.I received the 64 GB memory card, it’s fantastic as I have more memory than before. It’s easy to use and I slipped in into my phone. Its waterproof which I particularly liked as in case my phone gets wet or ruined by water I know my data is safe in the SD card.It is also temperature and shockproof which is handy especially as I use my phone a lot even when cycling and exercising. So far I have had no problems with the SC memory card and it is running smoothly. I am confident that it is of good high quality and it will last me a long time, so I am highly pleased with this item. Once I installed it , I found it to be fast and effective no hassle which is brilliant. Obviously in order for my SD card to do its job I had to make sure that everything I wanted backed up is to be backed up on the card via setting, so I don’t lose any precious memories and important documents. Samsung has established its reputation and I have always used Samsung to be honest it has never let me down, my experience found that it is a reliable product and their memory cards are worth a buy. Overall this product is really good and I would not hesitate in recommending this item to anyone.

I bought a few of the Evo Samsung micro SD cards to replace older small capacity cardsThe ones I got were marked made in Korea and I have no reason to doubt they are genuine cards. There are 4 models in the Samsung micro SD card range the normal black (class 4), the Blue (rated at class 6 but it exceeds class 10) Orange Evo (this card rated at class 10) and the Grey "Pro" range which is the fastest model out there.Samsung don't provide write speed specifications for the card, but they claim read speeds of up to 48MB/sI tested the cards I got on a USB 3.0 card reader and got the following results:Read speed: 46MB/sWrite speed: 15MB/sPerformance was decent for a class 10 UHS card this is a bit faster than the Blue class 6 card by about 4-5MB/s write speed (the biggest gain is read speed),but it's some way off the EVO grey card from Samsung (which has much faster speeds) For most users though the card is plenty fast enough for use in a phone or even a camera, though it's not a big jump over the model down from this. This card has resistance to temperature, shock, x-ray and water which adds a bit of confidence to longevity. It was however a bit slower than the Sony UHS Class 10 card which offers the same environmental protection and faster write speeds so I'd recommend that card if you need a bit more punch on the write times.Overall though it's a decent card and priced at affordable levels

Got that dreaded message on my Galaxy S5 that I was running out of space and, expecting to find that I still had at least a couple of GB left, I checked to see how much space was still available on the 'phone, and it was just under 500MB. Usually stick to Sandisk or Lexar for cards, but I figured I'd give Samsung a shot since this was going into one of their 'phones and I wasn't disappointed.First thing I did was to move over all photos and videos, which took around 4 minutes (around 6GB of data) using a USB 2.0 card reader on the PC, and once I had it mounted in the 'phone I moved over whichever applications were allowed to reside on the card.Since then I've noticed that I get around six hours of additional usage from each charging cycle (although I'm not entirely sure why) but the 'phone itself is so much faster than it was before, presumably because there's only core applications running on the device itself now and it's not being over-congested by other apps. Was really hoping to go for the 128GB but couldn't quite stretch financially, and I'm really happy with the performance thus far. Made a huge difference to the overall handling of the 'phone and it's good to know that any new photos and videos won't be pulling it down.

Samsung Memory 64 GB EVO MicroSDXC UHS-I Grade 1 Class 10 Memory Card with SD Adapter (Frustration Free Packaging)Sold by: AmazonI use this 64gb memory card in my Samsung Galaxy S5. I have checked if the card has a lower gb capacity than it claims (there are some cards that claim to be 64gb but actually are a few gb). I used "h2testw" to check this.Well, what can I say. It does the job. It's from a reputable brand. Read and write speeds as expected. I've had no problems with transferring images, etc. I believe 64gb would be the ideal amount of gb. 128gb would be like 'overkill' for me- too much data. 32gb wouldn't be enough, especially seeing the amount of mb an image/video takes on smartphones these days (my S5): 20second (UltraHD)video = approx.120mb Image(16megapixels)= approx. 3.5mb.When buying USB sticks/Memory cards, always buy from Amazon directly. Avoid other sellers, including 'fulfilled by Amazon' sellers. You would feel more confident when buying from Amazon directly, especially when there are a lot of fake cards around these days.Great seller, great product. 100% recommend.Any questions regarding about this item, please leave a comment and I'll try to get back to you ASAP.I really hope this helps you :)

After getting my new Moto Z smartphone, I wanted to increase its internal memory from 32GB. As it has a Micro-SD card slot, I decided to buy the biggest and fastest SD card I could afford and got a sandisk one from amazon warehouse. After 3 weeks that card just died on me and I had to send it back to amazon for a refund.I decided to go with a trusted brand after that experience so I bought a Samsung Micro-SD card this time.I have now been using it for the last month and it has not disappointing. It is fast and thanks to the integrated android features, it has been used by the phone as an internal storage device.Installing it was easy as pie as all I had to do was insert it into the phone andthe rest was taken care of by Android.I consider myself a tech savvie person and have always avoided second hand or refurbished memory or storage. And after this experience I will strongly advise against it. And always select a brand that you trust.

Just recenlty I converted from being an apple phone user to an android one. I haven't looked back since. Recently I bought a cheap 64GB card from a super market and regreted it almost instantly. After a few days I have noticed that most of my pictures started to get corrupted and unusable. This is at a time when my son was born and I was the only designated photographer. After realising this, I quickly moved all my data back into my phone and threw the card away. This was the card I bought the same day I threw the onther one away and I am kicking myself for not buying this to start with. This card is very reliable and works great with any of my android devices (phone and tablet)Moral of the story: NEVER EVER by a no name/half price / too good to be true item like I did. You will instantly regret it when you lose your only videos and pictures you took of your loved ones. There is a reason whay these cards are 5 or 10 more expensive

Not lots to say but have been using this for several months now and the card is very robust and quick for when recording hd video etc.the orange colour is very helpful when it is dropped ( you'd be surprised how much this helps) and the weather protection is a very useful backup if you don't trust your camera to keep it dry and therefore keep your recordings safe. Also great for use with an action camera if you are also afraid the case will leak which in my experience they rarely do anyway. To be honest its a good quality card by a known manufacturer with some good features such as high speed and weather resistance etc.In my opinion i would go for this one for 90% of uses as the blue one may be a little bit slow in some circumstances and the one up from this (the black one i think?) you will probably only get the benefit from professional pieces of kit such as recording in 4k. Overall a good buy and quick delivery when on prime

Was skeptical due to increasing circulation of fake sd cards (meaning testing them before you do anything is vitally important) but looks like i got a legit one.f3 tests on Ubuntu.Writing 1GB files:Average writing speed: 10.96 MB/sAnd reading them back:Data OK: 59.56 GB (124904640 sectors)Data LOST: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Corrupted: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Slightly changed: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Overwritten: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors)Average reading speed: 45.50 MB/sWriting smaller files using Ubuntu's Disks benchmark I have seen faster writing speeds up to 33MB/S (but it did fluctuate up and down)That said Ubuntu recognises it as Generic (not sure if it should recognise it as Samsung as it does with the internal Samsung HD)and it has a ridiculously low serial number both of which raised a few eyebrows but testing showed it is a 64GB class 10 UHS-1 cardFYI: Bought from Locoisle777

I bought this for my TomTom 5100 Sat Nav and it works perfectly - no issues or complaints. Capture photos and videos two times faster than your typical microSD card thanks to this Samsung ultra high speed memory card being UHS-I enabled. You can also transfer up to 360 photos per minute (8MB per photo) with a transfer speed of up to 48MB per second. This microSD card means you can get the most out of the latest smartphones, tablets and cameras. And there's 32GB of storage - plenty of space for photos, full HD video, music, etc. Samsung memory cards are also tough, being able to operate in temperatures from -25C to 85C. Thanks to waterproof qualities, they can survive up to 24 hours in seawater. They are X-Ray proof, protecting data from damage caused by airport X-Ray machines, and magnetic-proof. Samsung memory cards can resist up to 13 times the magnetic force of home theatre speakers.

Ordered it on Sunday and it arrived on Thursay. Not as good as usual, but as the seller is in Hong Kong, and I used free postage, this was within the allowable time scale of up to 5 working days. The product arrived undamaged, while putting it in my laptop, I soon realised it was a lot less than the claimed 64 gig, which is standard practice for memory card manufacturers. I am old school 1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes. I also had to update VISTA as it could only 'see' up to 32 gig. Be aware of this as the laptop wanted to format the SD card, which would have lost me a lot of memory. I have only had the card for 2 weeks to use in my Verbatim wi-fi card reader ant it is now one third full.It is for storing and streaming my music to my tablet and it is definitely fast enough for this. Looks good value.

I have been running out of memory on my Samsung S5 for ages and having to delete music to make room for updates etc. I put it off for a while but am amazed how easy it was once I did it. I ordered from Amazon themselves because of previous reviews re fakes. The hardest bit was opening the pack. Pulled the back off the phone, removed the battery, then the SD card sits in the slot about the SIM. Went to my files and transferred 5GB of music to the SD card in one go and there is no music on my actual phones memory. Then put more music on card effortlessly as well. My phone now is back as my main source of music but I have tons of memory freed up on the phone. If like me you are holding off because you are not sure go for it.Good value and two day delivery so great service too.

Fantastic hardware. Its large enough for a bunch of movies, photos, music, games, apps and more. I have it in my Tab 8.4 and I dont even need to think about how much space is left. It will be in there for the duration of my tablet's life as 64gb is more than most people will fill in a Tablet's lifetime. If you think you may need more, get the 128gb for your device.I would even say that it's more cost effective to get this 64gb card rather than the 32gb, for the slight more you're paying, you're safe in the knowledge that you have twice as much space to fill with your memories too. Memory is so cheap these days that it's a great time to get one of these for your hardware.Even buying a second one to keep spare for whenever you get the latest phone or cameras too.

Does what one would expect an SD card to do. With one exception, the issues encountered pertain to the product I was using in conjunction with this card (Galaxy S5); software needed to be reinstalled (Spotify would only store downloaded files on the card after it was un and reinstalled), there were some teething pains with respect to transferring files from device to the new 'other' storage, and it took a little time for my phone to adjust to everything. These were solvable with a Google search and aren't the fault of the product!.. worth knowing before purchase though. The exception that caused me to strike off a single star was that this card is only 59GB when empty... It is good though,I can now fill my phone with videos of cats and appalling music - huzzah!
