I have an old PC (almost Mesozoic Era 1997 BIOS) that is used to monitor my APC UPS. I came across a software package that measures hard drive temperature and it reported the original cable was causing errors that made the PC lock-up, and had to be rebooted daily. This cable fit the bill. [technical details: Problems occurred between the communication of the disk and the host 2141 times. In case of a sudden crash or reboot it is recommended to try a different, short data cable (avoid round cables, use 80 wire standard cables instead).The hard disk is operating in UDMA mode 2 (33 Mbytes/sec) which reduces performance.

Just what I needed! An 80 wire cable for my modded original Xbox! HDD and DVD Rom access speeds have increased by 20% on average which is great for all the games and emulators I have copied to the new 320gb 7200 rpm PATA HDD I installed. Recommended for anyone turning an original Xbox into an all in one machine with hard drive installed games.I even put one in my unmodded green Halo limited edition Xbox and it cut load times from DVD game discs by roughly 30%.Keep in mind, this cable is a somewhat tight fit, but the length is only slightly shorter than the original 40 wire and looks factory installed when folded in correctly.

This does the job great. My ide harddrive is now booting and working faster. The biggest downside of these is the connectors are the wrong way round. Even though it’s the size of the original cable with all the twisting you have to do, starting with wrong way round on the motherboard then wrong way round for the dvd then wrong way round for the harddrive. These just about fit and they aren’t straight in the Xbox and look a big of a mess. You won’t be able to use them to clone a drive with chimp unless you remove the trays.

If you're looking to upgrade an original Xbox, you found the right cable for it. It's a great length and does the job well. This is not for improvement, but allows for larger capacity hard drives to be used. The original Xbox is over 12 years old for the newest console. Even if you don't have a modded Xbox, I suggest you look into modding your's before your system fails with all of your game saves because hard drives fail after 5 years or so.

Very good buy came very quick after ordering.was using the round type.kept loosing one of my drives and computer kept freezing,so i tryed an old cable i had that was i meter long computer worked as normal.so i orderd this 18inch one as as it looked neater,very good buy.

This is great if you have an older motherboard with IDE connections - you can use it to slave a drive off of another - does what it says! I used it to slave a second hard drive off of an optical drive onto the Mboard. Works a treat even using LINUX like me.

I bought this cable to replace the faulty one in my PC as it wasn't connecting to my disk drives. Very easy to connect; just plug in and play. It arrived before it's estimated time and in good condition. Good price for a specialist product

Never wanting to through any working HDD away, I fitted a couple of old drives internally as back up devices via an ATA/IDE adaptor card (only SATA on mobo). These cables did the job and I now have 2 more operational HDD, for now anyway.

Bought for OG Xbox hard drive swap these work fine but get longer ones if using for hard drive swap on OG Xbox it will just make your life easier i managed to mod hard drive but would made job 10 times easier with longer length cable.

i bought this to fit a second hdd to my old desktop computer. i connected it up and it worked fine however it came with no instruction at all. Not a problem for me but a person with less experience may have had problems.

it's always handy to have some spare cables in stock just in case anything goe's wrong would recommend this to anyoneas it happened I needed a new 1 of these as the old one became defective

its great wouldve been better if id been smart enough to order the right one but it still works great for something else make sure you order the right one for your needs lol

This cable is used in my original Xbox with a SATA drive. It works very well. However, the cable is backwards making it a little more complicated to fit, but it will fit.

Did its job. Needed access to an old HDD and didn't have a cable. I dont know why it asks for a rating on stretch because none of these were ever designed to stretch.
