I thought that this waste bin was quite expensive but I wanted one that was pure white and which also featured a lid so that you weren't staring at the rubbish contained all the time. Well I can happily say that this bin is a lovely pure white in colour, with a nice 'expensive looking' shiny finish. It's an ideal size for our bedroom and looks lovely and modern. I was less concerned about the cost when the bin arrived as it was clear that it's not made of a cheap plastic so immediately the money seemed well spent.I am not sure exactly what the material is but it's 'weighty' and very 'solid-feeling'. It has more the 'feel' of a hard bakolite or resin material.Whatever it is made of the effect is good — and it's way better than a typical modern 'plastic' waste bin.I also like the shape because, as far as a bin can be, it is elegant and strikingly good looking! In the pictures you may be forgiven for assuming that the bin is perfectly round, but it's actually a very-rounded squarish shape (which looks really good). The lid fits nice and snugly into the top and there's a 'flip-type' lid action when used. Now there is the interesting thing — I had read in a couple of reviews that the lid 'swings' for ages when you deposit some rubbish into the bin. I was puzzled that people even bothered to mention this, as they seemed very insignificant remarks to make. However, I know EXACTLY what those reviewers meant. If ever there was a challenge to exhibit perpetual motion' in a bin lid then this Umbra should be up there winning all the awards!! My wife and I found it quite amusing to observe that the lid will 'swing' quite happily, making a small clicking sound, for ages and ages. It's quite remarkable and doesn't bother us... it's just something that you don't expect. I think it's largely because the very solid material is quite heavy and the lid, once 'rocked' simply wants to keep on 'rocking' (and don't we all!!). I would not let this 'perpetual' characteristic put you off this waste bin because it's, if anything, more of a conversation piece than an issue. You can stop the rocking action by just holding the lid gently to sap its enthusiasm a little if you wish. I prefer to let it swing away into the early hours! The bottom line is that I would heartily recommend this strikingly well made waste bin... and would buy more of them. It's a BIN OF BEAUTY!!!

I got this one to just fit in a small space beside the vanity unit in a new cloakroom. It's melamine, chunky solid smooth melamine. It looks smart, not cheap. I have a son with OCD who avoids touching bin lids so was hoping the rocking mechanism would enable him to just push thing in there, he hasn't really tried it yet but it would work like this for more robust items (cardboard, empty bottles) but not for tissues. The lid is on a rocking system, so if you put it on upside it self-rights itself. The only slightly odd thing is that when you use it normally the lid takes a while to re-settle itself & makes a little rocking sound for quite a while after being used; this could annoy some peoplebut I'm ok with it & no-one else has mentioned it.

I was looking for a replacement for soap dish as my previous one from well known brand has badly rusted at the bottom as it's metal base but plastic soap dish. I didn't want anything fancy so I searched and found this product.I am very happy with this soap dish as it is made of a very high quality plastic and have a good weight to it. It has small ridges but no drainage holes but as I have purchased silicone iDesign soap holder which fits in this dish nicely to keep soap dry, I am not fussed about drainage holes.Overall quality product and reasonable price hence 5 stars

Was really surprised at how study this turned out to be.Bought this as a stop gap until we refresh the bathroom expecting a cheap bit of plastic but it's really good quality. Smaller than I imagined but it neatly holds the toothpaste, an electric toothbrush & a spare head or two. Best of all it stops the mess on the windowsill as my other half is incapable of rinsing & drying the toothbrush properly after use. Bit fiddly to clean the small sections but an old toothbrush does the job unless hubby cheeses me off then I'm sure his will do nicely ?

Although this product is described as a toothbrush holder I purchased it to hold my face wash tube(about the same size as a toothpaste tube) a small hand cream and a nail brush. It sits on my bathroom sink and looks very good. I specially like the fact that it looks as if it is ‘floating’ above the sink surface. Would recommend this product.

Some soap dispensers I’ve had either don’t hold a lot or have thin spouts. This however ticks all the boxes. It holds a lot of soap and the spout is modern looking. Past ones rust In time due to soap collecting on the rim. This dispenser doesn’t let the soap drip on any part of the bottle. Highly really recommended

I had been using a stainless steel rack dish but it kept sliding into the sink and going rusty so I was intrigued to text this one. All the good reviewers were correct. It does the job and keeps the soap dry; it’s very easy to clean; doesn’t slide into the sink and looks good. Definitely worth the money.

good sturdy quality, like, a bit heavy. not sure the inner dividers really work, our tree toothbrushes and two toothpastes are having hard time cos some will fit in one section and others in another. i guess the idea of sections is good but at the same time a bit rigid. nevertheless a good product.

Only had a couple of months so time will tell, but looks nice next to the sink. Fiddly to re-fill, but I have some funnels which makes it alot easier, & you can't really see how full it is unless you keep stopping to look when filling up, but rather that then an unsightly window.

This does a good job - stylish, a good size for 2 toothbrushes and toothpastes. My only negative is that when the product came it had a scratch down one side so I have to face it the other way to avoid this, meaning for £6 it isn’t the high quality I would expect!

This was needed for a new basin that had very flat areas beside the taps so that soap slid off when wet. I did not want a ceramic one as they can damage the basin if they get knocked in by mistake. This is solid and stylish and the best solution for my problem!

Needed something to hold our electric toothbrushes, toothpaste, steredant etc and it holds it all. No more toothbrushes falling in the bath (they really dont stand up on their own very well) all held in a very elegant container. Very pleased with this.

When I bought this it was a toss up between this or another and I should have gone for the other, this one does not have drainage holes in so the soap gets wet and stays wet, so should have gone for drainage over looks and colour.

This item is very robust and stable. My tube of toothpaste fits in the larger compartment and my electric toothbrush and interdens brush stand in each of the smaller spaces. This keeps the bathroom worktop nice and tidy.

Love this little bin.Call me odd, but I think this bin has character. Hell, I might marry this bin! It's good quality and the perfect size to be functional yet not overbearing. This is the bin you are looking for.
