I had one of these a few years back. Since I live in an apartment building I needed extra storage for basketballs, Soccer balls, lawn chairs, tents, tennis rackets extra jackets and other things. My husband drove into the wrong parking garage and that was the end of that.This time around I decided to get something longer with a shorter height. It took my brother and nephew about 15 minutes total to put this up. Since it was cold outside they read the directions inside, they made sure all the parts were there, in less than five minutes they were taking into the elevator then to the parking garage. One, two and three, their done. We drove it around the parking lot to make sure nothing would hit the roof.My van is a 2005 Toyota Sienna LE,

I bought the XL and it fits the Honda Pilot 2018 perfectly with good rear and forward clearance. I used BRIGHTLINES Crossbars Roof Racks (a generic brand of crossbars that does not require side rails)Pros: Easy to attach to roof, key stays in lock when opened, the clips to attach to the roof crossbars are adjustable, front and back clearance is great, the box is not too high, the box color is a very sleek look. I bought from Amazon because it’s cheaper than etrailer.com and Amazon includes free and faster shipping options. Crossbar spread, rear hatch clearance and the clamp fit for my 3 & 1/4” generic aero bars on my Honda Pilot 2018 was perfect!

This is a great rooftop cargo box for road trips. We got the Force XT XL for Nissan Murano. I was worried that it would be too long. But it is perfect. The rear end does not touch the antenna and does not affect the rear door opening. The front end is right at the start of the windscreen. The openings on both side make it very easy to install/load/tie-down/unload. Installing it is very easy. It has a lot of space. We were able to load it up with stuff and leave room inside the car for the kids' toys. There was slight wind noise at 75mph. Not very noticeable. We saw ~5 mpg drop in fuel efficiency on the highway. It looks very cool.

Lots of space, though the shape makes it difficult to carry some of the square containers I need to carry. The “floor” of the unit also makes it kind of tough to get hard cases to sit properly. They must fit in between the area where the “claws” grab onto the crossbar. The unit is sturdy and I have not noticed much difference in gas mileage. There is definitely wind noise, but I expected that. The only complaint I have is the locking mechanism. I think other reviewers have mentioned this too. It is cumbersome and often difficult to lock and unlock. Overall, I would recommend this carrier. Just be prepared for a headache or two.

We recently got this for our trip to TN. As our kids have grown, the inside of our SUV (Infiniti QX80) has not. We needed some additional space, this worked great. Very easy to install. The wife helped push this up and I did the rest. Easy to line up and screw tight. On our trip we opened up the sunroof to see how it was going. Anytime I got close to 90 mph it seemed like it would vibrate a little more, the directions say to stay around 80 mph. We did and everything seemed find. I would imagine if you added a little more weight and balance it would be fine maybe up to sustained 90 mph. We think its great and great purchase.

We bought this as a means to create more room in our 2018 Ford Escape for our dogs. We travel out of state to visit family at least once a year (camping, weddings etc) and this was well worth the purchase.Side note: This is ONLY the hard cargo box, we purchased separate cargoLoc brand bars to go across the top (on Amazon) and they work perfectly.This is easy to remove, easy to use, fantastic for travel. No issues & we highly recommend.We were able to fit so much more on top than expected. An XL dog crate, 4 bags, coats & jackets with some extra room to spare (my husband is a master packer!).

I spent a long time trying to get this combo to work and it simply does not. The power sunroof glass will not clear the anchor clamps of the carrier unless you push the crossbars back to the point that the rear door impacts the carrier on opening. Both issues are a deal breaker. There is a limited amount of adjustment that the carrier allows between the bars. I have the raised rails and did not want to purchase the crossbars meant for flush rails due to the added height but that is the only config that will allow the sunroof to operate without impact and potential damage if accidentally opened.

This rooftop carrier is easy to attach to the roof rails and easy to remove. The lock mechanism is finicky as other have noted and does feel a bit flimsy. Glad it opens on both sides in case one key were to break in the lock. It did not create noise on our very long cross-country trip, and it expanded our storage quite a lot.I was sad that the rough exterior doesn't work well for stickers, though. We bought a few stickers at national parks, and one was lost completely while several others peeled back the same day and we removed them. We'll have to try another adhesive.

This rooftop cargo box is sturdily built and gave tons of room for storage (though it isn't super tall, so check the dimensions to make sure what you want to get in there will fit). Also be sure to double check the size to the compatible car types, we got an XL that turned out to be a bit too big for our Mazda CX5, though we're about to switch cars and it will work for our new one. The unit was really well packed and arrived in great condition and has held up well to a good amount of use & abuse. These definitely aren't cheap, but well made and get the job done!

This carrier was pretty easy to install, thanks to the ingenious mounting gear. The unit was a bit more flimsy than I expected, but it did work well. Despite a rain storm, everything remained dry. It was surprisingly spacious, and access is very easy, especially since it is hinged to open from either side (another GREAT feature). The locking mechanism was a little balky, but a little lubricant improved it's function. Overall, I am happy with the purchase; Thule typically builds a quality product.

Installation is pretty easy but the shell is very flimsy and if one side slips, it takes 2 people to align and get back aligned. You have to be very cautions while opening on either side because the sides are not locked in. This is nice because you are able to open from either side, but you have to be gentle and slow while opening or closing to prevent the opposite side from slipping off.Holds a lot of stuff. Thought it would be more sturdy, but I'm sure if it was it would be much heavier.

I needed to drive from Massachusetts to California with all of my personal belongings. My Honda CR-V holds a lot but I needed more so I purchased this Thule box. It worked great. I didn't need to access the contents during the trip but when I got home to CA and opened the box, everything was nice and dry - despite torrential rains in Nebraska! I was very careful using the lock/latches due to other reviewers' comments and it does seem a bit flimsy, but it worked just great.

I loved this product. When I first received it there was a litttle dent on the hard top shell as I kept pondering on wheather to return it I decided to keep it because I needed it that weekend for our trip. Boy was I glad I kept it as the top made it so easy to install and also manage to open from both sides. Space is great and the wind factor was not an issue while driving. Very little wind noise. Asthetically it looks awesome. I’m am very glad I bought this.

I know a lot of people have these and love them, but I have to admit, It was much flimsier then I expected it to be.The installation was very easy. It took less then 5 minutes to install. One person can carry it but you should have two people but it on the car unless you don’t care about scratching it.I didn’t notice any drag or extra noise driving with it installed on our Outback.You can open it from either side of the vehicle which is very convenient.

I’ve had several Thule products. All have been absolutely wonderful and this is no exception. The box is sturdy and secure. It attached easily to my roof rails and holds so much stuff.The unique hinges allow it to open from either side of the car which is a really super feature. It makes unloading the carrier incredibly simple. No more climbing on the roof to get the items in the far edge of the carrier.I highly recommend this product!!
