If I could give this box 4.5 stars that's where I would land. I decided to use 4 stars vs 5 because it's not perfect and there are two issues I would like to see improved on in future versions of this box. We put this box on top of aftermarket cross bars above our 2016 4Runner. I mention the vehicle and aftermarket bars because we have a GPS antenna in the rear. Even know the box has a notch for your antenna, it's dead in the middle. I wanted to set the box closer to the passenger side of the vehicle and if the box was sitting an inch lower this may not have been possible.Otherwise, I'll mention the two cons which are similar to what others have noted. When filling this box to it's max capacity,it may be hard to close. The closing mechanism (LockKnob System) is plastic and does not feel sturdy. If the lock wasn't integrated, I would have trust issues with the security of the lid. In an effort to not break something, I was constantly re-positioning items to try getting the lid to close with no effort.My second issue is the PowerClick Quick-Mount System and the way it attaches to the box. This isn't a major issue because the mount basically sandwiches between the box and cross bars. However, it uses these little cheap looking plastic clips to snap to the box. Hard to explain but a couple of my clips would not click into place all the way. Once I tightened the PowerClick wheel one of the clips went into place more. Again, not a deal breaker but for the price I paid, I thought this would be better.Overall, we love the additional storage we gained from this box. We went with the XL size and were able to fit lots of stuff in there. The box feels sturdy but not solid. However, when it's closed the unit as a whole feels solid and I trust it going down the highway at 75 mph. Obviously gas mileage is worse with a huge box on the roof but this is to be expected. I believe our numbers were only 3-4 mpg worse than usual when doing the speed limit.

I had one of these a few years back. Since I live in an apartment building I needed extra storage for basketballs, Soccer balls, lawn chairs, tents, tennis rackets extra jackets and other things. My husband drove into the wrong parking garage and that was the end of that.This time around I decided to get something longer with a shorter height. It took my brother and nephew about 15 minutes total to put this up. Since it was cold outside they read the directions inside, they made sure all the parts were there, in less than five minutes they were taking into the elevator then to the parking garage. One, two and three, their done. We drove it around the parking lot to make sure nothing would hit the roof.My van is a 2005 Toyota Sienna LE,the parking garage clears 7’8”I have a tiny tiny bit of wiggle room maybe 6 or 7 inches when driving in the garage. We haven’t put anything into it yet. It looks and feels good. This opened up in the parking garage in my spot with no problems. This weekend will be going on the parkway, on the way back home it will be filled... so I’ll have a better idea of how it feels on top.I will update status once this happens...good luck to you.Update: I went into a parking garage that said 7 feet and I could fit. Tomorrow I will head on a parkway, then I’ll update.

Hopefully this will help answer the questions I had when I was looking to buy.Fit on 2019 Pilot- Easy, no issues. Plenty of room to still open the trunk and sunroof and with Brightlines crossbars. I tried to slide mine back so that the roof line matched the front of the box to keep aerodynamics (no idea if that worked or not)Install- I did everything myself and it took 5-10 minutes. From opening the box to starting to load it. The latches couldn't be easier. Also don't have running boards yet which would have made it even easier.Space- This would be personal, but I had more room than I needed.Waterproof- Can't say as it didn't rainDrive- Couldn't tell it was there. 4 hour trip each way up to 80mph.I got around 22-23 MPGI actually ordered a Yakima also but I got the 12 which was longer and thinner. The shape didn't work for what I would use so I returned it. That's no knock on the quality though as it seemed fantastic too. I'd say that the roof attachment may have been a little more complicated (still seemed pretty easy) but the lock actually seemed better on Yakima. Both seemed very durable so between the Yakima 16 and the Thule 16 I would say go for price as they both seem to be excellent quality. Note i did get the Amazon Used like new and it was in perfect condition and saved $100.

I bought the XL and it fits the Honda Pilot 2018 perfectly with good rear and forward clearance. I used BRIGHTLINES Crossbars Roof Racks (a generic brand of crossbars that does not require side rails)Pros: Easy to attach to roof, key stays in lock when opened, the clips to attach to the roof crossbars are adjustable, front and back clearance is great, the box is not too high, the box color is a very sleek look. I bought from Amazon because it’s cheaper than etrailer.com and Amazon includes free and faster shipping options. Crossbar spread, rear hatch clearance and the clamp fit for my 3 & 1/4” generic aero bars on my Honda Pilot 2018 was perfect!See picture for dimensions.Negatives: the shipping box was damaged on delivery but product looked fine so I did nothing about it. Do not open both sides because it is a pain to close the cargo top after both sides have been opened.

Prior to our month long trip to the mountains, we researched al of our options for storage. We finally decided on this Thule and we were not disappointed. (We could not get the rack for our jeep from Amazon so we had to go directly to Thule. That was a disaster but we finally got them, just before it was time to leave.) Our experience through Amazon was, as expected, fantastic. This Thule had all the space we needed for two sets of skis, boots, poles, extra coats and two duffle bags. It freed up space in the jeep for our two dogs. We did not notice any road noise, any "pull" or really any difference in gas milage. We love our Thule and know we will get a lot of use out of it in the future!

This is a great rooftop cargo box for road trips. We got the Force XT XL for Nissan Murano. I was worried that it would be too long. But it is perfect. The rear end does not touch the antenna and does not affect the rear door opening. The front end is right at the start of the windscreen. The openings on both side make it very easy to install/load/tie-down/unload. Installing it is very easy. It has a lot of space. We were able to load it up with stuff and leave room inside the car for the kids' toys. There was slight wind noise at 75mph. Not very noticeable. We saw ~5 mpg drop in fuel efficiency on the highway. It looks very cool.

Lots of space, though the shape makes it difficult to carry some of the square containers I need to carry. The “floor” of the unit also makes it kind of tough to get hard cases to sit properly. They must fit in between the area where the “claws” grab onto the crossbar. The unit is sturdy and I have not noticed much difference in gas mileage. There is definitely wind noise, but I expected that. The only complaint I have is the locking mechanism. I think other reviewers have mentioned this too. It is cumbersome and often difficult to lock and unlock. Overall, I would recommend this carrier. Just be prepared for a headache or two.

We recently got this for our trip to TN. As our kids have grown, the inside of our SUV (Infiniti QX80) has not. We needed some additional space, this worked great. Very easy to install. The wife helped push this up and I did the rest. Easy to line up and screw tight. On our trip we opened up the sunroof to see how it was going. Anytime I got close to 90 mph it seemed like it would vibrate a little more, the directions say to stay around 80 mph. We did and everything seemed find. I would imagine if you added a little more weight and balance it would be fine maybe up to sustained 90 mph. We think its great and great purchase.

First use was a 1300 mi road trip (camping) with the Force XT XL on a '15 Forester and it worked really well. Super easy to install, no noticeable wind noise, and only a 3-4 mpg hit on the gas mileage. Kept our gear dry in the rain and being able to access for either side of the car is great. My only complaint is that you can't easily force the lid shut if you slightly over fill it and try to force the lid down (like with sleeping bags and mats, stuff that can compress). The box wont latch easily if you try to do that. Following the instructions and lashing things down with the provided straps also helps with this issue.

Awesome product. I had difficulty installing it on my car, but it literally took my brother five minutes to install; I think the reason why I struggled to install it was because of my stature, I’m 5’1 and this cargo box is literally my height standing up and it felt like a Boulder when I tried to pick it up and install it on my jeep. It looks good on the car, and I love how much extra storage I am now afforded because of the cargo box. Very content with purchase and service provided by Amazon and CEVA shipping. I also like how the product comes with two keys and how it stays in place when you make sharp turns.

We bought this as a means to create more room in our 2018 Ford Escape for our dogs. We travel out of state to visit family at least once a year (camping, weddings etc) and this was well worth the purchase.Side note: This is ONLY the hard cargo box, we purchased separate cargoLoc brand bars to go across the top (on Amazon) and they work perfectly.This is easy to remove, easy to use, fantastic for travel. No issues & we highly recommend.We were able to fit so much more on top than expected. An XL dog crate, 4 bags, coats & jackets with some extra room to spare (my husband is a master packer!).

Works as advertised. Aerodynamics/gas mileage better than expected. Locks, hinges, torquing crossbar clamps, straps all worked well. No problems with rear hatch clearance. Follow instructions and have 2 people lift it to roof of car and, use step stool and open car doors for proper proximity to tighten clamps and strap down load. (I am only 5’5”) Very little noise at highway speed. My vehicle is 2018 Nissan Murano with Nissan factory installed crossbars, carrier is the large size. A bit bulky to store .. went on sale with a 20% price drop one week after purchase (August 24th).

This rooftop carrier is easy to attach to the roof rails and easy to remove. The lock mechanism is finicky as other have noted and does feel a bit flimsy. Glad it opens on both sides in case one key were to break in the lock. It did not create noise on our very long cross-country trip, and it expanded our storage quite a lot.I was sad that the rough exterior doesn't work well for stickers, though. We bought a few stickers at national parks, and one was lost completely while several others peeled back the same day and we removed them. We'll have to try another adhesive.

This rooftop cargo box is sturdily built and gave tons of room for storage (though it isn't super tall, so check the dimensions to make sure what you want to get in there will fit). Also be sure to double check the size to the compatible car types, we got an XL that turned out to be a bit too big for our Mazda CX5, though we're about to switch cars and it will work for our new one. The unit was really well packed and arrived in great condition and has held up well to a good amount of use & abuse. These definitely aren't cheap, but well made and get the job done!

Very competitive price for this top quality oversized roof box with the expensive Aeroskin finish. Looks great.Free delivery and arrived promptly in two days in perfect condition. Fitting to roof bars couldn’t be simpler and foolproof. Made of thick tough material. Thule quality and design is exceptional and really pleasing that this box is made in the UK so it’s carbon footprint for delivery is kept as small as possible. There’s an awful lot of space in this box and thus international transport would be very uneconomical.
