I bought the ATR as soon as it became availiable for Flight Simulator X back in '07. Back then my computer was too weak to run it well so for a while it stayed in the 'hangar' or so to speak until my system got uprgraded, then it ran like a dream. So the message here is to get a decent system to run this on. My guidance would be if your system can run the default airliners at 25-30 fps, then it should run the ATR at about 15-25 fps.The plane is incredibly detailed, nearly every switch/button works and the virutal cockpit is incredibly easy to fly from. Flight dynamics are superb and as for the systems modelling, well shall we say the manual WILL be your best friend, it is that well done. The only hitch is the FMC (Flight Management Computer) which is a must learn if you want to get full enjoyment out of the aircraft, and it is compicated for learners. Fortunately the manual has an extensive tutorial and there are also many on Youtube. Tt comes with a configuration manager (for fuel and passengers) as well which is a nice addition. And for added clarity the install is very easy, simply double click the installer and away you go.Now the issues (and sadly there are some). The plane is now definitely begining to show its age, alongside more modern addons such as the Wilco Publishng ERJ 145 or the PMDG J4100 it looks old. Some of the textures are bland but you will have to look hard to find them, which is a good thing. All in all,

If you, like me, have been missing the ATR in FS then this is for you. For the experienced Armchair Pilot there is the option to start the aircraft yourself like you would in real life, or for the more novice user, you have a number of presets, such as ready for boarding (No engines started) and ready for take-off (Everything ready) so you can just get up and go! The lighting on the overhead panel in the VC is amazing, and you even have a choice of the older brown cockpit colour or the newer blue. With the package I got you have a choice of 3 liveries with an option to go online and download some more.Totally Recommend to anyone, especially those fond of commercial props.

If you're someone looking for a quick flight - sightseeing or whatever - in FSX/FS2004, then this may not be the add-on airplane for you.If you have an old system that struggles to perform adequately with standard scenery etc, then the complexity of this plane may push it too far. However, if you've the time and inclination to read a 480 page manual of detailed operating instructions and marvel in the extent to which Flight1 have modelled this aircraft on the real ATR 72-500; if you want to understand what it's really like to fly a small commercial airliner, then this is an extraordinarily good addition to your flight sim setup.

If you want to 'kick the tyres and light the fires', then this probably isn't for you. However, if you enjoy the in-depth involvement of aircraft system operation, this is about as real as it gets. Developed in conjunction with the manufacturers, almost every system works as per real life. Not too frame-rate hungry as some but the virtual cockpit benefits from a reasonably fast graphics card.Full FMC(flight management computer)etc etc etcJust add FS2 Crew to achieve a level of realism that will get you as close to an ATR flightdeck as is possible...that is, unless you already fly one in real life!!!

I purchased this product in April 2009 because I wanted a regional airliner for FSX. This add on is exacly what I wanted. At the time I was moving on from simple 'kick the tyers and light the fires' add ons to more conplex ones and this was perfect. With various conplexity levels you are not jumping in at the deep end. The reason I can't give this add on five stars is because there are only 3 liveries included in the package although there are lots to download on Avsim etc. I love the detail of the 2d cockpit, Virtual cockpit and cabin. It has my full recomendation.

Absolutely first rate and a bargain at this price. Totally different level to the 'stock models' that ship with FS9/FSX - different class. Be prepared to hit a steep learning curve and do plenty of research/forum hunting. Slowly you'll piece it all together and it'll be very rewarding. The model itself is terrific and really a joy to fly. It will hit the FPS hard so those with rigs struggling should maybe think twice (and get it and leave it in the hanger).Great buy can't recommend it enough.XP, FS9

perfect for doing little island hops. i have fsx and this works perfectly eventually just like anything you get bored of it though. i have done may flights with this aircraft and extra liveries available from the flight one website make things more interesting. problems have occured though like my cabin never appears when on the view, you can see throught the walls of the cabin and there is no furniture. apart from this the atr 72 500 flight one addon for fsx 2004 is very goood

Amazing add-on! Lots of fun and great to fly! Really nice VC and exterior in high quality textures. Its a great plane to fly but is very complex. And hard to learn and to get going.Takes time to read the 481 paged manual.Overall I recommend it very much and for anyone who thinks of buying it,Get it!
